    Glock Issue

I usually fire federal 115 gr FMJ value packs and I cycled in a few dozen rounds of HST.   No aftermarket finish. Apparently after I cleaned it the first time I oiled it too lightly?  The gentleman at the range added some more of the copper grease and it seemed to fix the problem.  He recommended I didn't clean it for a little bit to let it break in.
  2. Maybe one of those little beeper sized panic alarms for runners (just pull the lanyard out). Check batteries but probably get about as much runtime as an airhorn at least. I often see basic hygiene stuff missing, spare glasses and meds when applicable.

    Glock Issue

Took my G26 Gen4 out to the range again.   I've fired about 250-300 rounds without issue. It was stripped and cleaned after my first range trip (after about 100 rounds) and most of the second range trip where I fired the rest of the rounds went fine, but something happened a few times that had me puzzled. After every shot I would slowly let up on the trigger until I felt the reset, then fired the next round from there. Several times however, as I was letting off the trigger slowly, I felt the slide go into battery maybe 1/4th of an inch as if it didn't go into battery properly after the last shot. I could not reproduce it on command, and it would only happen intermittently maybe in the last 100 rounds or so. Sometimes once on a magazine, sometimes 2-3 times in a row. It didn't seem specific to one magazine. I was shooting a variety of ammo, including regular FMJ, JHP, standard pressure, +P+, etc (all factory loads) and didn't seem specific to one ammo type. I thought it was weird, and twice I pulled the trigger and heard a "click". After ejecting the round, I saw that there was a light primer strike, as if it had tried to fire slightly out of battery. Thankfully the rounds didn't go off, and I tried the rounds again ensuring the slide was fully in battery and they fired fine this time.   Anyone encounter something similar?
  5. Another +1 on tru spec 24/7 pants. I have to wear khakis for work and love the pockets. Functional but doesnt scream cop like 5.11 pants
  6. I always carry IWB, so when it comes to concealing for me grip length is more of an issue than thickness, and I shoot better with double stacks. So I prefer the XD9sc, M&P9c, or G26 with the G26 hiding best. For a minimal gun the P3AT with clip and mic holster is very hard to beat concealibility wise
  7. Yep, exactly. I've been wanting something like that ever since I saw it lol. It fills a niche IMO, there's nothing else out there in that size range with 5 rounds on tap. The Chiappa, Pack Rifle, cricket are all single shots. Even the AR-7 is bulkier
  8. Dean A. Mellberg shoots and kills four people and wounds 22 at Fairchild Air Force Base hospital on June 20, 1994 with his AK type rifle.   His mass shooting was ended by Senior Airman Andrew Brown, age 25 with the 92nd Air Force Security Police Squadron.   While patrolling base housing areas on his bicycle a quarter mile away, he received the call over his radio and responded.   When he spotted the gunman some 70 yards away he ditched his bicycle and ordered Mellberg to drop his weapon.   When Mellberg turned and shot at Brown, he crouched and engaged him with his M9 Beretta.  Of four rounds fired, two missed the gunman, one hit his shoulder and a final round struck his head ending the fight.   If I recall correctly he did suffer PTSD after the incident not for ending Mellberg's life, but because he wished he was able to get there faster IOT save more lives.  I can only imagine how out of breath he was while making the shot after hauling ass on a bicycle, and 70 yards is a hell of a shot even when you're not winded.   I have a hard time getting all my rounds center mass at 25 yards while I'm not under stress in the comfort of a shooting range. I remember a story of a man who was shooting an enfield rifle from his porch at police officers.  One of them had only his sidearm to respond, and he was a competitive pistol shooter, but wasn't experienced at shooting at the long range he was faced with.  IIRC after the shootout ended they found a nice tight group of impacts that were about a foot too high because he wasn't sure what the holdover would be.   Other scenarios I can think of include shootings at theatres (if you're in the back row and they're near the front it's easily over 25 yards), across a gas station lot, some places of work, and so on. You just never know.   Obviously as a civilian it's not our responsibility to end killing sprees, despite being justified in protecting a third party.  And in some circumstances it may be better not to draw at all.  However as a community carry permit owners in general tend to be people who, by their very nature, want to help others.  To protect ourselves and our family is our first priority, but when something goes down there are a brave few who will run towards the threat rather than away if it means saving lives.   The odds of you needing a firearm in the first place are thankfully small, and the odds of you needing to be able to make a longer distance shot is even smaller still, but I can't imagine who ends up having to do so wishes they had LESS practice at longer ranges.  Even if you never need it, it's good to know yourself and know your weapon -- and more importantly know your limits.   Be an expert with your gun, know it's ins and outs, and learn what you can and can't do with it.
  9. Scary thing's happened in Canada (From another forum)         In the process of banning some questionable firearms, they used it as an opportunity to ban a whole class of firearms.  Apparently in the confusion that followed, there were some clarifications, that gun owners would be granted a two or five year amnesty period (depending on which article you read) during which time they won't be criminalized.   http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/swiss-arms-rifle-owners-granted-amnesty-by-government-1.2558585   While the country in question is Canada, it's not that big a leap to think someone would pull something like this here.
  10. I'd love an NAA mini based rifle Or a Kel Tec Sub 2000 or PS90 style semi automatic shotgun that is designed around Aguila minishells
  11. Lol I didn't think I'd be a member of that club either, and was sure an M&P9c would be my carry gun to replace my XD9sc... but bought my first one (a G26) yesterday.  So far loving it
  12. I know what they are. And in theory I would agree but as surpising as it seems I have read anecdotes of m193 sailing through some ar500 target plates that stopped m855 by its sheer velocity. I will have to look into it further when I get home and see if their videos or site sheds any light or if others have done independent testing.
  13. Bingo.  We'll just have to leave it up to individual virtue though.  (Yeah, that'll go well...)
  14. Will AR500 stop XM193 as well, or just M855?
  15. I'm jealous of these Saigas!
  16. Thanks guys, I wasn't sure how it would hold up. Looks like it was flaking off too easily (I didn't prime it, lack of patience... ) but after the clearcoat and a week later it seems to be holding up much better. It will wear off eventually being a rattlecan job but I can always strip it and start over now that I know the technique. This is what inspired me to do it: http://www.xdtalk.com/forums/bolt-guns-precision-rifles/129928-let-s-see-your-mosin-nagant-rifles-4.html#post2287988 And I basically followed his directions. I initially used 3 colors of rustoleum camo paint (khaki, sand and some sort of green) but the khaki and sand looked almost the same so I ended up just using the 2 colors. After a full base coat of the lighter color, I used plastic straw from a broom fanned out for the pattern, always pointing with the wide fanned out end "up" relative to the rifle like grass. I had never done it but got the technique down pretty quick, the trick is to hold the straw basically flat against the stock and lightly dust it with the green paint, holding it further away than you normally would. Make sure once the straw gets too wet you let it dry so it doesn't leave globs of paint on it. The matte clearcoat made it shiny unfortunately
  17. Lol thanks, I need to give it a clear coat. Big question is how will it hold up to lubrication / cleaning...
  18. Picked up a bubba'd mosin for pretty cheap. It wasn't in great condition so I decided to clean it up and try my hand at a rattle can job. I've never done it before, but it came out better than I expected!

    Go Pack

Yeah the nice thing about the design is that it allows you to swing it around your front while you're wearing it so you can access all the side pockets.  Instant chest rig! :)

It's a maxped sitka clone that walmarts carry now. I like em, they're handy. I also like your contents :3
  21. Not sure if this marks a change for walmarts everywhere (or if it's old news) but the walmart in Clarksville on 41a / ft campbell blvd changed their signs saying there is a 3 box limit on .22 ammo specifically, implying the daily limit no longer applies to other types. I just bought 4 boxes each of cheapo 5.56 and 7.62 (8 total)
  22. Saw it years ago, still neat. They also have mats that can be laid and formed then just spray water to harden. Reinforce sandbag barriers, line ditches and berms, all sorts of uses. Paint over with some truck bed liner and there you have it! :)
  23. Yeah was gonna do that on my m44 but the rear sight base is on a sleeve that wraps around the entire barrel. LER pistol scope or micro red dot would be a fun toy
  24. So long as they add another amendment requiring a police officer to be on duty at every playground. If they strip law abiding citizens of the right to defend themselves and their own then it should be their responsibility. If they aren't willing to fill in the gap then they have no business creating one in the first place.
