  1. I just got home, and will be going back shortly. If you got some money, they got some toys to play with. Oh, and Barrett has plenty of plinkers to look at. Worth the money, great vendors and manufacturers to talk to, and JHatmaker at the TGO Smoking Lounge. What more could you ask for? Mac
  2. I know you haven't mentioned them, but there are some Beretta's that fit your requirements. A 92 Compact 9MM, Cheetah 84 .380, or even the Stoeger Mini Cougar in 9MM or .40S&W. All of them will have slide mounted safeties, bigger grips to help with your large hands, and decent magazine capacity. Mac
  3. I'll be there. Told my wife it was time to spend a weekend with her parents in Estill. Haven't told her yet that I'll be gone all day Saturday. Mac

    STI Range Master

I don't have the Range Master, but all the other STI's I've had and have fired have been phenomenal. Mac
  5. Almost all STI single stacks are available in both 9MM and 45.
  6. 2 things Home-made camo wife-beaters make me nervous. "my friends already out there in law-enforcement, as I hope to be..." is the scariest thing I've heard in years. Mac
  7. FWIW, the Peltors Tac 6's are great, and I love mine... BUT they will burn through a set of batteries with the quickness, and changing batteries is a bigger pain then stripping a Ruger MKII. Mac
  8. Sheesh, I thought it would be a lot to ask to upgrade my SDB to a 550B. LOL Mac
  9. I have an M&P Pro 9 that is an awesome gun. The small backstrap gets SMALL, even for my "little girl" hands. You'd be amazed at how small even the medium backstrap is. I shoot this gun as well as my XD 9 Tac, which is pretty good considering I have over 5000 rounds through my XD and only about 400 through the M&P. If mags weren't so expensive, I'd compete with my M&P instead of the XD. I can't compare it to the 2022, because I've never shot one, but the M&P is far more accurate than I am, VERY reliable, and extremely comfortable to shoot. Mac
  10. Wasn't there a manufacturer in Franklin a couple years ago? They may have gone under, I'm not sure, but I remember seeing something like that at a gun show. Mac
  11. +1 on not buying from Cabelas. I love them, but not for reloading components. The rounds you'd be building with the components you list would be far higher in quality than Blazer, so you're not really comparing like animals. If you must buy on-line, go to Wideners, Montana Gold, or Powder Valley. Buy local if you can. Buy in bulk. Pick up brass at the range every chance you get, and buy once-fired brass. I use Zero Bullets, CCI primers, and VihtaVourhi powder, all very good products, and I reload 9mm for .05-.06 per round less than Blazer or WWB. Any other caliber will give you even better returns. Ruger Mark 3

I have two MkII's and a 22/45. Never thought I'd need a rubber mallet to clean my guns. Thing is, with these things, you really never have to clean them unless you REALLY want to. A Q-tip dipped in Hoppes on the feed ramp and around the chamber, a quick boresnake or bore brush, and you're done. Mine will eat (and have eaten thousands) Federal bulk packs, but they hate Remmy Goldens or Thunderbolts. And do yourself a favor and don't get any non-plated bullets near them. Mac
  13. I have both in their respective 9mm 5" versions. In fit, form, and function, they are virtually identical. However, there are a few minute differences: 1. While the XD is lighter by about 1.5 ounces, it seems a bit more top heavy. 2. The grips on the XD are flatter on the sides, making them slightly more "block-ish" feeling. 3. The changeable backstrap on the M&P is a nice feature, but for the average person, the medium will fit well, and you'll never change it. 4. Magazines for the XD are cheaper and easier to get. Once SW catches up with production on their mags, this will probably become a non-issue. 5. Personally, I find the serrations on the M&P far easier to grip for a very quick slingshot. I have heard other people say they hate the M&P serrations. This are all very little things that truly have no bearing on one being better than the other. I currently shoot my XD in competition, and I have roughly 6-7000 rounds through it since November. The only time I've had any failures with it has been when it's not been cleaned or lubed after multiple long (500+ round) practice sessions. (Oh, and when the aftermarket front site fell off after being poorly installed by a friend). I only have about 1500 rounds through my M&P since Christmas, and it's never failed. Mac
  14. Any idea how many children I can get for a SW 686+? Mac
  15. Hello, all. Just found this site yesterday, and have enjoyed all the info thus far. My name is Bill, I'm a member of North Tennessee Practical Shooters and a member of On Target indoor range in Murfreesboro. I also shoot on private land in Franklin County and Moore County. Been shooting consistantly for about 15 years, only been competing USPSA since November. I currently shoot Production with a pretty well stock XD9, but will be moving up to Limited this fall with a Brazos Pro SC .40. My wife shoots an M&P 9 Pro, and I hope to have her competing by this fall. Anyway, nice to meet you all, and look forward to some good conversations. Mac
