  1. I'm in. I was already a tub o' lard, then quit smoking 4 months ago. Now I'm just ridiculously swolled-up. Mac Official weigh-in this morning: 251. Should be 175. This is gonna be fun..... ugh.
  2. 5 positions would be a 650 Differences in COAL can actually be a couple of things. The rotating plate could have the old style bearing wheel, which according to some has caused some issues. A moderate smooth lever pull is very important. From all the way up to all the way down and back up should be the same smooth motion. The auto priming system on the 550, 650, and SDB is known to be troublesome from time to time. First thing to check would be the nipple inside the priming system the drops the primer onto the priming cup. These are small plastic pieces that get mangled pretty easily. Replace as often as needed or desired. Next, replace that spring with an original as soon as possible. Make sure a primer has not fallen off the primer cup into the system and could be hanging up the movement of the priming arm. Make sure you're using the correct "sticks" (or primer tubes) for their respective primer sizes. You'll be using the small tubes for .223 with small rifle primers. These should be blue on the end with the pin and yellow on the pickup end. If you're using the green end, you've got the large tube, and the primers can get jammed in there pretty easily. Sounds like the powder dropper might be too low. When adjusting it's height, you want to make sure that the arm with the small plastic square is moved all the way to the right at the very bottom of the lever stroke. If it gets there too early, then you've got the powder measure too low, and can potentially damage it by forcing the arm too far and breaking the screw in the bell housing (please don't ask me how I know this). The rust issue can be a big deal. This is a fairly precision machine made with quite a bit of steel. The problem is that the machine was not designed to be oiled or lubed. They use delrin and nylon in a lot of places to make sure that there isn't an issue with contamination with lubricants. When all else fails, call Dillon. They will answer ANY question except load recipes, and they won't quit till you have your machine up and running and pumping out rounds like mad. Mac
  3. No. Why would someone owning a gun make me think they are good people? Absolutely not. I'm going to keep an eye on anyone with a gun on their hip. I have no idea whether or not they have a permit. Do you need a background check to purchase a firearm regardless of HCP status? Yes, if from a dealer. Also, as a business owner, his primary concern is not whether or not you can legally tuck a gun in your pants, it's whether or not you'll tuck HIS gun in your pants. Gun Owner =/= good potential honest employee. Could be a multitude of reasons: it's their property, and they want to hunt on it themselves, potential liability of having someone hurt on while on your property, potential danger of having someone damage your property whether accidentally or intentially Can't speak to this since I've never seen it happen. I'm sure it has, just not in my experience. Sounds like it would be more of an issue of prejudice than Gun Owner trust issue? Again, haven't seen this is person, but personally, just because someone owns a gun doesn't necessarily make them good people. Not a LEO, so can't comment other than to say LEO predominantly deal with untrustworthy individuals, which would tend to understandably lower their internal trust mechanisms. Personally, I'd love to be able to trust everyone. I generally like people. However, I've been bit for it in the past and will get bit by it again in the future. I'm trying to teach myself that trust (and respect) are earned. There is no certificate, permit, oath, or profession that instantly deserves trust because unfortunately, people can be bad. Mac
  4. You really need a kinetic bullet puller. We all make mistakes, and 3 whacks on your bench will get all of your components back to start over. I'd also recommend the Lee Auto Prime hand primer. After depriming and resizing, it's a whole lot faster to prime a bunch at once. You can actually print your own load manuals from most of the powder manufacturers websites. I use a Lyman manual and Lee manual, but I also check VV's load data, since that's the only powder I use. Mac
  5. Appreciate the info, CK. I've been reading up on them from benos and Henning. Wife saw a Gold Team Open, and I was hoping to check out the mid-level guns before spending the big money. Mac
  6. I don't own one, but it's the new form of the Pager Pal. I saw a guy with the Pager Pal deep conceal a full size HK USP and sit comfortably. There was a guy at the Murfreesboro show selling and demo'ing the new one. Looked pretty interesting. Mac
  7. Thanks for the info guys. I have a CZ, so I guess I know what the EAA is like. I'll just keep my eyes open at the shows and shops for a used one. Mac
  8. Anyone know of a shop around MidTenn that carries the Witness or Tanfoglio? I'm specifically looking for either the Elite Match or the Limited. Keep hearing nice things about these weapons, but can't ever find one to put my hands on. Thanks, Mac
  9. And Robbie Leatham might prove his point correct. Using guys of that calibre to equate to anything we mere mortals can achieve is a bit of a stretch, don't you think?
  10. I started shooting USPSA in Dickson just over a year ago. I'm fat, slow, inflexible, almost blind, and borderline retarded when it comes to short term memory. But I have a blast. The people, the shooting, the whole experience is great. Personally, I now have an issue with being completely bored shooting at an indoor target range. I want to draw and ninja roll from lane to lane, and put 2 in each person's target. The order of things: Be safe, then be accurate, then be fast. Mac
  11. It is a CMMG kit. Came with one 26rd mag, and I bought another for $15 more.It was the vendor with all of the AR uppers on the vertical display rack. He had several of the kits and what looked to be a case of the magazines. Mac
  12. Just got back. Not too bad, usual suspects of belts, wallets, and junk, but not too bad. I did grab an AR 22 conversion for 125, so I was happy with that. Mac
  13. Got my 4yr old nephew the Red Ryder for Christmas, and we had "the talk." Now, if it would ever climb above 30deg we'd go out and shoot. Mac
  14. MMMM, firing a round you KNOW is out of battery... nice. Bad press for gun owners because of idiot death in 3... 2... 1... Mac
  15. I'm a huge S_I fan... actually, I'm just huge...
  16. My question would be how do I get my hands on the H&K G3's they are replacing? Mac
  17. While you're at Reloader's Bench, pick up some Zero 9MM 115 (I use 124's). Great plated bullet, and no shipping charges. Mac
  18. At G&L today I checked out the KelTec PF9. Talk about dropping something in your pocket and going. Nice little piece. Mac
  19. Got a couple of those things rolling around the house somewhere. In the early 90's my entire family (other than me) worked at Worth in Tullahoma, and they snatched up a couple. From what I remember, they were a very limited run. Then again, I also got a couple cases of Billy Beer laying around, too. Seems that the Mac family collects all kinds of worthless junk. Mac
  20. It is my understanding that they are a supplier to local shops, and they are trying not to compete with local businesses. This is second or third hand information, so take it for what it's worth. Mac
  21. I generally order bulk from Powder Valley, and I can now get the bullets and powder that I use, but primers are still somewhat touch and go. When you find them, they are quite a bit pricier than they were last year. We're getting there, but we may still be a few months out. Mac
  22. SDB can't do necked cases. If you want to do .357 Sig, you'll need a 550 or 650. Only real difference in the two is 550 is manual index and the 650 is auto index. The 650 also has a fifth hole in the toolhead for an extra stage if you want it. There are casefeeders available for both.
  23. FWIW, I would recommend buying a new one from Brianenos.com. You'll not pay shipping, you'll get to choose what caliber conversion it comes with, and it will be brand new. Unless you totally luck out, the ones on eBay go almost for the price of new, and you pay shipping on most of them. The reason for this is the warranty. Everyone knows that even if you buy one that ragged out, broken, rusted, and junk, Dillon will repair and replace everything with no questions asked.
  24. Ghost Holster for my Brazo. Wife thinks that even though I'm slow and inaccurate, I should look good.
  25. Hey, Brian, Welcome. I'd have to agree with the 10/22 opinions above. I love the couple I have, but I need to ask what this "cleaning" thing is you speak of? I'm not familiar with that term in conjunction with a 10/22? Mac
