Before the drought, I was up to 1600rds 9MM and 300-400rds .40 per month plus the ~roughly 200 each for matches when I could make it. Since the drought, those numbers have dwindled and been replaced with .22 and 20g since I've taken up plinking and skeet. Mac

Me, too, but I've already eaten all the chips. Mac -
I'm all for an ass-whipping when needed, but I prefer it administered "in house." The thing that kept me from acting up when I was a kid was the threat that my father (RIP) would find out. At school, in church, at someone else's house, it didn't matter. If I messed up, they told my dad, and "he handled his business." He taught me far more than any coach, vice-principal, teacher, etc. ever could. Mac

If controlability is not an issue, then I'd lean towards .40. The main equalizer in other situations is higher capacity in 9, but since you're looking at mouse guns, you're going to be in the 7+1 range anyway. Accuracy is going to be a dead heat as well since you're dealing with a 2" barrel, although going back to the controlability, the nod goes to the 9. My practice loads in 40 are 180g Zero JHP over 5g of VV N320 (thats also my competition load) My practice and comp load in 9mm are 125g Zero JHP over 4.2g of VV N320. Both of these would be far too soft for self-defense rounds. For self-defense, I stick to Hydroshoks or Gold Dots. Mac

I believe there is a range out at Hoselton Ventures on Turkey Creek Rd. I know they dug it out, but I never see anyone there, so I don't know if they are open or what. Mac

McDonald's French Fries. I pretty much live on them already, so it would be no great change. Mac

I'm pretty convinced there's things out there. Not sure why they'd visit here and not talk to anyone though. Seems like a big waste of time to fly all the way here and not grab a beer with the locals. As far as the speed of light thing... seems to me they are saying it can't be done simply because they haven't done it, yet. They said the same thing about the speed of sound. "Oh, there's gonna be hell to pay when they break the envelope! Holes opening in the ground, demons eating cats!" etc. Then the fly boys broke the sound barrier and amazingly enough, the speedo kept going. Big deal. Pretty sure when it's all said and done, the speed of light is just that... a speed. Once they pass it, the speedo will keep turning. I also have to take issue with the "that planet cannot support life." Ummm, you mean HUMAN life, right? Or maybe "carbon-based" life, right? That bugs me. Who said we have ANY idea of what kind of life is out there? You know that the ocean cannot support HUMAN life, so there must not be anything in there, right? I think these scientist types try to make things more complicated than they really are, just to keep their jobs. Guess that's why I liked Armageddon so much. It was just a bunch of beer drinking roughnecks flying around in space puking on each other until it was time to go to work. Mac

Tactical Aiming Solutions...What Say Ye?

So, basically, it's a fibre optic front site mounted at the back, with a thin notch rear site to mimic a longer site radius? I'm not really knocking them, it just seems like this has been done already, using fibre optics up front. Mac -

I'm not going to vote because I'm free every weekend, and being in Smyrna, I can get to pretty much any range without too much trouble. FWIW, I like the grill out idea at Owl Hollow. I'll bring the chips. Mac -
It's not too bad. As long as you get it mounted good, it will hold zero pretty well, and with a thumbs forward grip, activation is effortless. I'll get it in the mail to you tomorrow morning. Enjoy.

I have a CAT Laser for a Beretta 92(works best on straight dust cover.) The front is notched so that it can be used with an SGS compensator, but it still functions perfectly. I'll get pics up tonight. Mac

I was always partial to the phrase: "If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck."

I'll take it, if it's still available. Mac

There is one of those actually marketed for brass collection, but I'm pretty sure it's the exact same thing. The major issue I've seen with them is they don't work well on sand or gravel, and most areas I shoot are... sand or gravel. One day I'm going to invent a brass magnet. Mac

75 Super Beetle, two different shades of blue, missing 1/3 of the floor, and NOTHING electric worked. God, I loved that piece of junk. Mac

It's WAY off the beaten track, and I wouldn't know anything about Hoselton's except my brother-in-law lives 5 houses down from their shop. Makes it very easy to grab some extra ammo when we're shooting up on the hill. Mac

I know it's a haul, but Hoselton's in Moore County/Tullahoma has a Witness 10MM Compact and a Full Size both in the case. Can't remember the price off-hand, though. Mac

Dunno, something about them just doesn't do it for me. In their literature, I see they say something about "knowing what a 1911 is all about." Personally, I was always under the impression that a 1911 was about ultra-simple, ultra-reliable firepower. Seems like in the last decade or so 1911 manufacturers have been trying to change that to ultra-high-dollar, ultra-use-someone-elses-parts-and-make-it-pretty. I'll stick to my Springers. Mac

heh, yeah. I think Chubby in the red shirt got 2 mags loaded in the entire video.

I just picked up a CW9 Saturday nite. Of all the mini-9's out there, it felt the best in my hand, and no pinkie float. Can't wait to see what it does. Mac

I believe it's a Para 16.40. That's the TJ model. Mac EDIT: NOPE, Para Model 1911, his single stack version. Sorry, didn't watch the video at first.

Can't Democrats, Libertarians, Green Party, whatever, defend themselves? You do realize that you don't have to tow a party line and you can disagree with a particular party stance? just sayin... Mac
