  1. CZCustom sells LPA TPUs that are drop in on the 75 slides, item 30042. They also have Bo-Mar style LPAs for the Tactical Sport. I'm not a huge fan of adjustable sites for my comp guns simply because they can take some abuse, and its not easy to rezero in the middle of a match. If I notice my POA has changed, I know there's a problem. I'll look for the problem, before I click to adjust. Mac
  2. FWIW, I have a SDB, RL550B, and CH Single Stage. Yes, the SDB is full progressive, so I throw most of my bulk 9MM through there. I do 38SuperComp, 38TJ, 40, and 45 on the 550, and use the CH single as a random decapping station and Redding GRx 40 station. As far as speed difference, the SDB and 550 tend to even out. The SDB is a little small, so it can jitter a bit and shake powder. The 550 is bigger and smoother, so manual index is very quick. The CH... well, it's single stage. No such thing as fast single stage, and there should not be either. Not what it's for. Learn on a single. You'll see, feel, and know every aspect of what you're doing. Once you get it all down, then consider moving up to turrets, semi-progressive, or full progressive if you feel you just want to go faster. But start on a single. Mac
  3. Yeah, basically, grab the hammer with all your strength and control, pull trigger and lower it down. I went with the Tactical because I prefer the decocker (I can be clumsy even when trying VERY hard not to be) According to CZ Custom (Angus or Matt) the trigger in the Tactical can be made almost identical to the Shadow, but not exactly. I completely agree in leaving in the FPB. Actually, if you're ever going to compete USPSA Production (maybe IDPA also, don't know their rules) you'll need the FPB to be in there anyway. If it wasn't there, you don't need to add it, but if it was in there, you can't remove it. I started with 92's, still have them, still love them, but my CZ is no comparison. With all the forward weight of the full length dust cover, the super low bore axis, and the grip shape, that gun is just too awesome. I load 132pf 125gn JHP's, and the gun does not move. At all.
  4. CZ SP01, preferably Shadow, unless you need a decocker. Trigger job and tricked out by Angus Hobdel if you want to rule the world. EAA Witnesses are trying to recover from some bad importation decisions right now. Has to do with small caliber magazines in large frame guns. They have applied a fix, but its still fresh. STIs rock. Trojan or Spartan will get you in under 1k.
  5. You won't have any problems loading and reloading your 40's with the factory configured Glock. The only thing I've ever run into would be some belling at the bottom of the case that a resizing die can't get to. This only happens when I put "Glocked" brass in my Brazo that has a super tight chamber. Redding makes a die called the GRx push through resizing die to correct this issue. (Midway carries it.) You'll never notice this phenomenon shooting reloads from your Glock, and I very much doubt you'll ever see it effect your M&P either. It's typically seen as an issue on custom built chambers that are built to such close tolerances that anything less than perfect is unacceptable. Mac EDIT: Low end or high end shouldn't matter. KB's are typically only common from high-end+++ loads that usually exceed SAAMI spec. Use jacketed bullets, load up according to a manual, and shoot till the barrel wears out. Get a new barrel. Repeat.

    Phoenix Arms HP22A?

If I did, my wife would kill me... literally. She likes to go over them and pick which one she wants to take to the range. Of course, it's usually 2 or more, which means I get to take the rubber mallet to a couple of them when it's time to clean them. Mac
  7. I have 3, one in each of my range bags, and one in the wife's range bag. Make sure you use the lanyard attachment though, because these great little inventions seem to "wander-off" at the range. Mac

    XD40 or XD9?

I have about (7) 9mm pistols, one of them being an XD9 Tactical. Nothing at all wrong with having multiples in the same calibre. Makes it a lot easier to stock up. However, I do have a couple of .40's as well. It's a different round, I don't think it's better or worse, just different. I don't think the average person would spend the money on a gun just to see what the different ammo feels like. I said average, none of us really qualify under that term. Mac

    Phoenix Arms HP22A?

No problem. If you're looking for a range gun to help her get comfortable, then I'd save up for the Ruger. Actually, look around and find an old Mark I, Mark II, or 22/45. The Rugers will last forever, parts are available from nearly EVERY vendor, and when you're ready to move up, you'll get back almost the exact amount of money you bought it for. FWIW, I have 4 Mark II's and one 22/45. They are a blast, and you can do about anything you want with them. Mac
  10. a pair of Rottweilers. That is all. Mac

    Phoenix Arms HP22A?

Not sure if you've considered it, but a conversion for your Glock would not cost that much more, and you'd be shooting the same platform and trigger at 1/10000000th the price. Mac

    Glock getting sold?

I'm just not sure how this would work out. Yes, at the right price everything is for sale, but I'm not aware of any financial issues Glock is having, therefore they would be priced at a staggering premium. In order for Freedom to make any money, they'd have to figure out a way to make Glocks cheaper or sell them at higher prices. Either way, the Glock brand name would take a serious hit. However, if Glock and DPMS are put under the same umbrella, it could give us the GL-15 that so many people are dreaming of. Don't care either way, really, unless the 17 I'm looking at goes up to $750. Mac

    New Gun, Or Not?

For a 1911 in 9MM, I'd say the Trojan. Don't personally know anyone who's had the Springer 9. Nothing wrong with beating the heck out of your Glock either. Apparently, Henning has been testing the new Witness large frame magazines and had some great results. We'll see on that one. I have a Hi-Power, and it's nice enough, but not the end-all be-all that some people want it to be. And I remember someone writing (maybe in Front Site?) that there was a reason no one shoots the Hi-Power in competition, but one reason in USPSA would be you're stuck shooting minor unless you want to put a comp and scope on it and shoot Open with some super SAAMI-testing ammo. Remington 1911 R1

It's already been released, they called it the Springfield Loaded. Mac
  15. Agree, for a minute, I thought it was the Chiappa. Mac
  16. Found the answer, she was talking about the one she goes to in Birmingham. Maybe Alabama has different rules. Mac
  17. Huh, wife is in there all the time, and she's the one who told me this. I assume I misunderstood what she was talking about. Mac
  18. I'm pretty sure we all know the saying about stereotypes... Mac
  19. I did have a hand in skewing the handgun/rifle ratio, but I didn't own a centerfire rifle until last year. I do, and did, have a couple 10/22's, but no centerfire. Now, I rarely get my rifle out because the only range I spend any quality time at is only 25yds indoors, and that's just not a lot of fun. However, you could probably put me down for around 50rds per month centerfire rifle though. Mac
  20. My brother-in-law's family has some land just across the line in Moore county, and the coyotes are screaming every night out there. I'll check with him tonight to see if there is any public land out that way. Mac
  21. QFT I've seen people freak out when I've pulled 500 rounds out of my range bag. I just laugh and say, "I won't even pull the cover off my reloader unless I'm ready to do 1000+" I am a firm believer that any trigger time is good trigger time, so I cut the people at the range some slack as long as they are safe. But when the guy (or girl) gets in the lane and unloads a mag in 2 seconds to impress their friends, it's time for me to pack up and go home.
  22. I thought there was no tax on used personal property? Anything that is not a home or car/boat/motocycle. Like having a garage sale or buying stuff at Goodwill. Mac Of course, thinking that might be way I always have to pay taxes and never get any back
  23. Before the drought, I was up to 1600rds 9MM and 300-400rds .40 per month plus the ~roughly 200 each for matches when I could make it. Since the drought, those numbers have dwindled and been replaced with .22 and 20g since I've taken up plinking and skeet. Mac
  24. Me, too, but I've already eaten all the chips. Mac
  25. I'm all for an ass-whipping when needed, but I prefer it administered "in house." The thing that kept me from acting up when I was a kid was the threat that my father (RIP) would find out. At school, in church, at someone else's house, it didn't matter. If I messed up, they told my dad, and "he handled his business." He taught me far more than any coach, vice-principal, teacher, etc. ever could. Mac
