Recruiters told they can accept openly gay applicants.
McAllyn replied to Chucktshoes's topic in General Chat
Oh, I have no doubt there's always been a "Rule Book" and "Real World." We all participate in that in some form or another. I'm just saying, and I wish it wasn't as naive as it is, that it would be great if we could just move on. Allow anyone with the head and heart to perform the job get it done.Mac -

Homosexuality has existed as long as man has been on this planet, so... something weird has been going on with all these gays still hanging around after roughly 250k years. It's not a passing fad.Mac -

No, never served. Not sure it's relevant, but not ashamed either. My question would be, "Why would they be weeded out?" Or, more importantly, why SHOULD they be weeded out? If they break a rule, kick them out. If they grab your ass, smash them in the face. If they do their job, shut the hell up, and handle your own business. Seems pretty simple. And the women and men thing, honestly, I think that would be pretty cool. But, same rule applies, you grab a chick's ass, you better be ready to handle things, cause she's an Army chick, and she'll pound you into pulp in front of your buds. Good luck living that one down. Just like white men in the military would not bunk with black men. Just like Christian men would not serve with Jews. Italian immigrants would not associate with Irish immigrants. My point being. it's not about "You" (rhetorically) it's about defense of the country and serving honorably. Sexual orientation is just the latest "bad" thing to deal with. Once you sign on the dotted line, your background SHOULD become irrelevant. All other labels fall away, Soldier is all that should remain. Mac Not sure what's being slapped in anyone's face? Recruits can say whether they are gay or not? Shouldn't effect anything. -

Gay, straight, black, white, man, woman, Christian, or Jew; if you love this country and wish to defend it, do so with honor. I have never been able to understand why people have issues with this? Mac -
Interestingly enough, I just got back from Scotland and had this very conversation with several people. Their comments were completely backwards. They said that they, and everyone else, are British first. Basically, they way they put it was like brothers. The brothers will squabble with each other, but an outsider better not mess with one of the brothers. Mac

So, if you can support the "Office" but not the "Man," can you support the "Flag" but not the "Song about the Flag"? Mac

I started making kydex mag holders based on a post on Brian Enos' forums. So far, I have collected patterns for Glock 9/40 mags, S&W Sigma mags, and 1911 mags. They aren't Blade-Tech, Comp-Tec, or Ready Tactical, but they aren't $30 each, either. You get enough kydex in one 12x24 sheet to make 12 mag holders, and the sheets cost about $10.00 each. Mac

I'll go ahead and stand up for my XD9 Tac. Over 15k rounds through it and the thing keeps running. I prefer the grip angle of the XD to the grip angle of the Glock, as it is more in line with all the other weapons I own. Been competing with it for over a year, when I'm not on the disabled list, and I will admit to having FTF issues at the very beginning. I bought it used and only gave it a cursory cleaning before putting it into service. After taking it completely apart and actually scrubbing out the crap the previous owner was smuggling inside, it has not failed to fire, feed or eject. Personally, I bought a Blade-Tech holster and haven't needed another one, so availability for me is a moot point. Trigger parts, replacement springs, grip tape, sights, etc. are all available from Canyon Creek or Springer Precision. Not knocking the Glock, just saying that regardless of what others say, the XD is a viable option. Mac

I'm Bill, or Mac, or Fitzy. I've been known to answer to "Fat, Bald Guy." -
I have Peltor Tac 6S's, and I've never liked them. Battery replacement is a pita, they crackle, and their NRR is pretty lame for indoor. I'm ordering 7S's as soon as I can, but if money is not object, get Pro Ears Mag Gold. At 33NRR, they are the highest rated electronics I know of, and I don't know of anyone who's had any kind of failure from them. Mac

I use the Miday, a Tac-Star Mid-Size, and a Shooter's Connection Tournament. For the money, it's the Midway all the way. However, the Shooter's Connection will last an eternity. That thing is built like a tank. Shooters Connection Tournament Series Shooting Bag Ultra- Black

Scrooged with Bill Murray. Just before he orders the antlers stapled to the mouse. Classic. -

NRA stickers/etc....t-shirts........
McAllyn replied to Parrothead's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
While I hate bumper stickers of any kind, I did put a small Hero Gear sticker in the corner of my back window. Since I live in the Nashville area, VERY few people know what that is. However, I was visiting my sister in Franklin County a few weeks ago, and got pulled over on Hwy130 for going a bit faster than was prudent. The officer saw my sticker, and the first question he asked me was if I had any weapons. Mac -
Hey, K, how'd the project turn out? Any pics yet to show us? Mac

FWIW, the Kahr CW9 is very thin and easily concealed. The Glock 26 isn't nearly as thin, but also very easily concealed with the advantage of a little more firepower. I love my CW9, and the price is really hard to beat. Mac

California Governor Signs Marijuana Decriminalization Bill
McAllyn replied to Il Duce's topic in General Chat
Just an idea, but wouldn't the "tax it" thing apply just like everything else that one can easily make or grow themselves? Basically, if you grow corn, you can eat it all you like. You can give it to your friends or throw it to the hogs. If you want to sell it, then you're a business, and you pay tax. Pretty sure thats how it works for flowers, plants, fruits, vegetables, livestock, homemade beer and wine, etc. No idea how marijuana would be treated any different once it was legalized. Mac -

While I agree, it looks crappy, in a SHTF situation, think about all the abandoned cars that will be lying around waiting to donate a supressor to you. Mac

Alex Jones... the guy from Jeopardy!? Seems like a smug know-it-all to me. Some good satires of him on SNL, though. Mac
