I have to say my Brazo. It might be sentimental reasons, or it might be the sub 2lb trigger, but man... I'm going to shoot it right now. I'll be back. Mac -

Sounds good to me, now that you mention it. Let's call it... Separate but equal. Instead of Don't Ask, Don't Tell, we'll call it You Better Tell Because the Rednecks Don't Want to get Wet Near You, and all the gays and lesbians will be forced to wear upside down rainbow tags. They will be scheduled to shower individually, which in the situation with most bases, at 6 minutes each, should take just over 3 days to cycle through. But we won't have to worry about...Or you could man up and take your damn shower. Men and women are different. Men and men are not. If you can't deal with it, don't sign up. If you can do the job you're assigned, do it. I commend you. You have kept to your guns about the shower thing after being told repeatedly by current and former members of the military service that it is a nonissue, but you beat the dead horse like no one has answered the question. I guess I'll admit defeat in hopes you'll let it go. I'm certain you'll never admit that you hold an indefensible stance because every arguement you have made thus far has long since been defeated. For proof, replace the word gay with black, japanese, woman, etc. It's bigotry and a double standard. I'm just tired of this. -

Nope, they let me get hitched without a second thought. But, they were all laughing as I left the office, never knew why. Mac -

Who cares where it ends? Doesn't bother or even effect me in any way shape or form. My neighbor wants to marry his dog, OK by me, just keep that bitch quiet at 3AM. Awesome, I got a swear word in there by using the actual meaning of the term!!!Mac -

You keep asking the same silly question about why men and women shouldn't shower together? How many answers do you want? This issue has nothing to do with inter-gender cohabitation. You do realize that men and women are totally different members of the same specie, correct?Mac -

Don't know the law on it, but the only issue I see is the scientific proof that when close blood relatives procreate, there is a high chance of... issues with the child. "But What About the Children?!?" I don't have an issue with polygamy, some dude wants to deal with more than one wife, best of luck to him, and let him know Zoloft comes in Economy size buckets. Just tell them you're gonna use them as spare fuses in your truck. Mac

Or, maybe it will butch them up a little, and cure their gayness! Then we all win!Sorry, that was uncalled for, but this seems to be dragging on and is becoming tiresome. -

Ever flaunt your heterosexuality? Whistle at an attractive person, check out a hot pic, nudge your buddy when someone walks by? How would you like to be summarily dismissed for it and have your career destroyed? Also, the constitution does give the right to be openly homosexual. Just like it gives you the right to be who you are, what you are, like who you like, say what you say. Gay or straight, citizens of the US are allowed to "openly" act however they choose as long as it is within the constraits of the law. I'm a bald-fat guy who openly acts like a 14 year old retard most of the time, and I'm damn proud that I'm fully protected by the Constitution, because it's fun as hell. Mac -

Fans of DADT, a scenario: Soldier A is sitting with his buddies telling a story about "hooking up" with someone while on leave. Everyone laughs and pokes fun at each other. Good time had by all. This happens, correct? No one causes an issue, higher ranking officials are not called in, and no one loses their job, right? Soldier B is sitting with his buddies telling a story about "hooking up" with a dude. One guy freaks out and tells a senior officer that Soldier B is gay. Soldier B is rousted, probably beaten up or somehow otherwise molested, then sent packing. I assume this is how it has gone in the past. Regardless of your comfort level with the acts of either soldier, how is this equal treatment in the eyes of the law, not to mention military law? -

Not having served, I cannot say for sure, but to the best of my knowledge the military is not run as a democracy. Soldiers do what they are told, not asked if they think it's a good idea.Mac -

From reading the actual article, it seems more geared toward and has examples of people who have served successful military careers, being "found out" and having their careers cut short for no other reason than someone asked or someone told. I see no mention of anyone wanting to wear dresses or sing Gloria Gaynor songs at PT. Openly gay to me means not having to hide, not prancing around like a fairy. -

This is a very good topic. Glad I've been a part of it. Gotta log now. I'll check it out tomorrow and see what's come up. My point throughout this has been, ANYONE with the will, heart, and head to serve the country should be allowed. Anyone who is worried that they are gonna get felt up or hit on is the one with the problem, not the homosexuals. Do your job and come home safe. Mac -

The greater point is why are you uncomfortable? Take your shower. Move on. No one is there to molest you, regardless whether or not you think you're about to be gang raped. If your ordered to shower, get wet, get clean, and get back to work. It's an irrational fear. You're in the military putting your life on the line against tyranny, and you're afraid Bruce is gonna check out your junk?Again, the "you's" above are rhetorical. Mac -

McAllyn replied to Chucktshoes's topic in General Chat
Pretty over-simplified, and I would not say tricked, but I will say that in many "lesser civilized" areas of the world, men and women bathe together. In many areas throughout the world, men, women, and children don't even use bathrooms. If they have to go, they drop trow, and do their thing. No one bats an eye. Actually, humans are the only animals that experience shame for essential bodily functions that everyone participates in. However, this has nothing to do with the topic of homosexuals not having to hide their orientation? Mac -
