Had an M&P Pro 9MM and really liked it. Left it for the ex-wife and went to a Glock 34, but wouldn't hesitate to buy another. Now, is it worth the extra cost over a 9L that you could tweak yourself? That's totally up to you. Mac

Duh, because eventually, you'll set it down and never find it again.Mac

After I sincerely say that I am truly sorry she had to pay for another person's idiocy, I'd like to add at least it was only a 9MM. If had been a .45, everyone in the store would have died. Mac

Should this conflict ever arise what would you do?

I've said it before, and I stand by it: My cover garment is not a cape. If I can get my family (hypothetical, since I don't have one) out of harm's way and call the cops, that's exactly what I'll do. The way the scenario you describe plays out in my mind, anyone who will pull a weapon in a crowded retail store is in a bad way, and that situation is going to get a ton worse. I'm not going to escalate it or even be involved in it, if possible. Mac -
I have a PT92, and it's been flawless for several years. It's not as well finished inside or outside from its Beretta cousin (which I also have,) but that's why it costs half as much. Have no fear, it's a great weapon, and he should be very happy with it. Mac

YOU CAN STOP SHOOTING ME NOW! Ok, seriously. Enough with the bullets.

News report would have been something like "Two men involved in altercation outside an Applebee's. Both showed powder burns on their clothes, and several empty bullet cases were found on the scene."Mac -

It says the weapon the would-be robber had was a .25. Doesn't say anything about what the would-be victim used to defend himself. Not in the writeup, anyway. I'd love to find out it was a .45. Mac -
Everyone knows Glocks shoot you in the butt, not the truck door pocket. Maybe that will be the M&P's stigma now, since it's happened to someone you know's brother-in-law's cousin's former employee's girlfriend's coworker.Mac

Is the vehicle used by an intoxicated driver that runs over and kills an innocent bystander destroyed? How does this differ? Why would a firearm be considered "morally soiled" or "possessed by demon spirits" and that vehicle would not? There are many ways this could be done intelligently in which the departments would benefit greatly. I understand that it's easier to sell them in bulk to a dealer, but I guarantee it would be more lucrative to sell to the public. Mac

A 2011 could get you 20+1 in .40, 2lb reliable trigger, weight somewhat comparable to your XD/Glock, and far more accuracy than you could ever use. I think the 2011 in 9mm is closer to 23+1, but not sure. But I answered no, I wouldn't trade my Glocks for a NH or Wilson. NH and Wilson are great weapons, don't get me wrong, but there are a few other custom 1911 builders out there that can and would do what they do for less. My Glocks and 1911/2011's are all custom though, so it's pretty irrelevant to me. I don't trade guns. Mac EDIT: and as far as malfs, the only malfs I've had out of any of my weapons has been due to poor reloads which didn't work in my 1911, 2011, or my Glock. Tried the same ammo in all 3.

A whole lot of variables there. If you think you might have a flinch, double plug next time you go shoot, even if you're shooting outside. With greatly reduced sound, you may find that you can concentrate better on sight control. If you think that your trigger finger is changing your point of aim just before firing and you don't want to invest in a laser, when dry firing, balance a dime on the top of the slide just behind the front site. Unless you have a flat topped slide, it will be tricky keeping it balanced there when depressing the trigger. There is a diagnostic target available for download on the web that will give you general ideas of things to look at. Basically, you aim at the center, and whereever your shots are going will tell you the "general" cause. Mac

Great, thanks. I'm going to give this a try. Mac

I've been using a vibratory for several years, and tried the Hornady Sonic. Can't stand the mess of the vibratory, and the hassle of the sonic is ridiculous. Thinking about trying this SS tumbling. What about the noise factor? Would you say this is a loud and annoying as the vibratory cleaners? Mac

Serpa, Holster of Death, Strikes Again
McAllyn replied to Oh Shoot's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Well, we've had some discussions already about Ole Tex, and I still don't care for the guy, but I will give him some respect in that he definitely took reponsibility for the incident. He called it "negligent" not "accidental" which means, as he admits, it was his fault and not that of his gear, etc. The only thing that I can comment on is, if you're going to train like this, make sure you know what gear you're using, and I don't suggest ever training with conflicting pieces of equipment during the same training period. All that being said, I wonder what kind of ass-whuppin he got for taking his step-dad Craig's Kimber out of the safe again. Mac -

Good, now he won't be able to be an a-hole and hurt someone else. Mac -
I've bought from just about everyone in the area from Hero Gear and Hoselton's to Guns and Leather and Reloader's Bench. My preferences are Guns and Leather in Greenbriar and Specialty Arms in LaVergne. I tend to not be real chatty as a customer, since I typically research what I'm looking for ahead of time, but in those two places the people I've dealt with were just very easy to talk to. I haven't checked out D&T yet, but it sounds like I have a trip coming up. Mac

Either that girl is nowhere NEAR 16 years old or she has had the roughest 16 years of any woman on the planet. As far as the marriage, meh, best of luck to them. BTW, I have the under on divorced at 19, and the over on dead by overdose at 18. Figure, one way or the other, I'm gonna get paid. Mac

Dunno, but Mythbusters detonated several 22 rounds from the battery in a pickup truck, so I'd be inclined to think a lightning strike might provide just a little more of a jumpstart. Easy solution is get your a55 out of the lightning storm, and let someone else test the theory. Mac

I thought the Black Pansys broke up in the late 70's after the police raids and bad press? Oh, and I'm not sure how much alcohol Letereat! had, but Charlie Sheen drank enough to kill 2 and a Half men. (It took 20 pages, but finally a Charlie Sheen reference, #winning!!!) Mac

Since I have a clay thrower, I always have some pigeons around. I just made a target stand with a line of screws in a board. I hang the pigeons on the screws and go to town with 22s. Works pretty well with a 9 or 40 also, but the board won't last very long shooting centerfire. The zero cleanup part is the greatest thing. Mac

I have Peltor Tac 6's and just picked up a set of Redhead (Bass Pro's rebranded Radians). The Tac 6's have been junk since I got them, and wouldn't recommend them to anyone. The Redheads are a lot better, but SUPER tight to begin with. I had to leave them on a coffee can for about a week to get the headband to loosen up enough to be comfortable. If I'd quit buying other junk, I'd drop the money into a pair of MSA Sordin Supremes or Pro Ears Gold. In that order. Another option that I'm looking into is the EARinc Inst-molds with the baffle inserts, but I haven't taken the time to find an audiologist to get the molds done. Mac
