  1. I was there. Had just left Green Ramp after checking to make sure we had everything ready for the jump. I saw the fireball and the aircraft falling toward the pre-jump area. We lost several good Airborne Troopers that day.
  2. MEMO FOR JOE. Reference: Posting on TGO. Subject: Feeding Problem. 1. Will Magpul fix issue. 2. No. For the Commander. D. MARK COL USA BTW....., Good to See you SF guys are still Smart A**es!
  3. GK389xx? That "G" doesn't seem right. Did you get the SN off the butt of the grip or inside the yoke? A K serial prefix in the 389xx range would make it a pre-model 15 made in 1948 and is referred to as the "K-38 Combat Masterpiece." But that would mean that this S&W should also be a "five-screw" model and in your picture I can't see if there is the fifth screw holding in the top of the sideplate. Model 15-3s were made from 1967 to 1976 and would have a SN in the K715997 to 9K99999 range. My bet is your SN is really 9K398xx and that would place it with a 1975 production. BTW - S&W changed to a floating firing pin in 1997 for the Model 15-8. Enjoy your S&W! Get some nice factory wood target stocks for display and keep the Uncle Mike's rubber grips to shoot the fool out of it!
  4. And we lost some of our Freedom! Having to send my kids to a govt run course to teach them something I had already done just P--SED me off! How strange it was when my "Service Rifle Jr Expect/IDPA Marksman/Camp Perry Medal Winner" 15 year old son had to keep reminding the state govt instructor to keep his finger off the trigger while holding a weapon. BACK On TOPIC...... I shoot the VC (Varmint Cong) Coyotes here in the Middle Tennessee area with an 24" Bull Barrel AR using Black Hills 223 Remington 60g Hornady V-Max.
  5. Also checkout..... http://www.m4carbine.net Alot of good info there. However be aware that there are KoolAid drinkers on that site who only think that Colt, LMT, Sabre or Noveske can make a good AR.
  6. We're seeing more ACOGs being issued but I still prefer EOTEC for myself. Since I train mostly to shoot CQB with both eyes open the EOTEC works best for me. I also like the cleaner field of view while using NVGs. However I do think that the ACOG is the better longer range optic. For Me - - - Anything beyond 200m and I'm hidding or trusting my wingman to place 30mm down so I can make a break to the CSAR bird!
  7. I'll be there Saturday along with my son.
  8. Tungsten, Those are great "follow throughs" that we all should be thinking about in case we ever have to exercise our right to self defense.

    Gun show

My guess is the big RK Gun Show at Smyrna 25-27 Apr was the main killer of the 3-4 May Goodman show.
  10. Does make you wonder when you do recall that oil coming from Dead Dinos is just a theory. Also...... I just Love it when we're told that most of our oil is coming from Canada. Guess which oil field they are pumping it out of - - - Yup Anwar on their side.
  11. But wait - There's More..... Fossil fuel is just a "theory." What if oil comes from something else......, Hmmmmmm. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=38645
  12. Joe, I would have gone with 7.62mm - - - But then again I'm Old School.
  13. Still not getting email notices.
  14. Good point John and I agree with your comments. I think the best advice ever is to carry the firearm that you can hit with the best - - - quickly! Another point to make is the round count. I'm often asked why I still carry "only" a 9mm. For one thing its still my "work caliber" and another is the total rounds (stored kills) that I can carry. Would eight .45 ACP rounds be better than sixteen 9mm? Hard to say, but the worst thing that can happen in a gunfight is to run out of ammo. In a real fight most folks tend to shoot until the threat is gone. We see that in LEO shootings and have always known that in the military (but we're just now training that way). And finally I have to admit that my selection of more bullets over bigger bullets is indeed driven by my past experience...... The best REAL combat handgun shooter that I ever knew was killed in the middle of a fight with his right hand still holding his slide-locked 1911 and the other with a fresh mag ready to reload. It was clear from the bodies around him that so long as his weapon was running he was winning. I have often wondered if he'd be alive today for the want of a few more bullets over bigger bullets.........
  15. Location - Location - Location! Its sort of one of those "can't get there from here" deals. You can see GMtn but trying to figure out the roads to reach it can be confusing.
  16. Yup - Post some pictures. One of us should be able to figure it out.
  17. Your friend's 1917 is an N Frame S&W. The factory no longer works on older S&Ws but the good news is that most "pre-MIM" N Frame parts will work. The "thumbpiece" you are looking for is the same one found on Model 20, 21, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, etc., etc. (well you get the idea). Brownells, Midway & Numrich carry the part as does the factory. "N29" in the picture below is the part you are looking for along with the "nut" N30. Tell your friend that the "Blue Steel & Wood" folks hang out at the S&W Forum. Alot of knowledge there - - - I get educated all of the time on that site! http://smith-wessonforum.com
  18. I'm also not getting the notices for subscribed threads or private messages.
  19. Has a Gun Show returned to the Tennessee Expo Center in Smyrna? I've seen some signs showing the dates as 25-27 April. Comments?
  20. I agree. 5.11 is "Shoot Me First" fashion wear.
  21. FTF Private sell - No paper needed just as God intended and as stated in the Bill of Rights. All I ask for is a verbal that the seller/buyer is a Tennessean.
