One ? about a HCP requirement caveat
DMark replied to fizik's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Sorry to Hijack...., but we use the term "Former Army Ranger." This keeps down the confusion among the Spec Ops types who have to deal with an "EX" or two after several deployments. -
Well Done!

The link to the S&W Forum is what I did and it made a world of difference. After 500+ rounds = No Problems!

In the many moves I have made in the service to country...., one of the first things I do (after getting the cable up for the kids) is to find a transfer FFL. My norm is too walk in and ask, "Hey, will you do a free transfer for me if I buy $xxx.xx amount of ammo from you?" I have found that the shops that agree to that deal become good to do business with on more than just a transfer.

The so called exporting of Democracy
DMark replied to wjh2657's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Well having been one of those who took part in the run-up for OIF I had an interesting view of many decisions made by our country's most senior leaders. Alot can be said about the why of going into Iraq. I'll save those WMD insights for a "tell-all" book I should write someday. BUT - - - This I can say. We had NO IDEA how broken a country Iraq was. The citizens only went about their daily lifes out of fear that Saddam or one of his evil sons would kill them if they didn't go to work. When we removed the Husseins....., there were no John Adams, Alexander Hamilton, Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson or George Washington among them. They had left or been killed. The "Iraqi Exiles" we hung our hats on to lead turned out to be fakes. But hey, this war stuff is hard. -
Yup, Son and I will be in the Dove field this afternoon. Expect with the heat that the birds won't be flying until late.

And there is now less supply to fall back on because there isn't anymore "tank farms." Years ago every major city had the storage to hold 100s of thousands of gallons of gas. The Nashville tank farm was off Hwy 70 (Lebanon Road) just as you neared downtown. Those went away because the piplines would be able to deliver "just in time supply" of fuel so you wouldn't need to store so much. Now when there is any hicup in the supply there isn't anything in storage to hold you over until the supply side catches up. The tree huggers also wanted the tank farms gone because they worry about fumes and such stuff. Also, gas station now have much smaller underground tanks. Some of you might recall the EPA ruling and all of the old stations having to dig up their big tanks - - - all that worry about leaks into the ground water. So - - - Another fine example of second & third order affects of good ideas!

Modifying Heavy Trigger Pull on S&W 9VE Allied Forces
DMark replied to a topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I agree. I had too many FTFs with the Wolff spring. In fact I think that Wolff even warns that FTFs can happen with the reduced power. I took the Wolff spring out and used this DIY on the S&W Forum and it worked well for me. With this mod the Sigma's trigger feels more like a double action only revolver. http://smith-wessonforum.com/eve/forums?s=884106832&a=tpc&m=1031000282&f=580103904 Its a shame that the stock Sigma has such a heavy trigger because I find that the firearm itself handles so much better than a Glock. -
City Cafe just off the square on East Main in Murfreesboro.

Check the mag lips that hold the rounds in. Sounds like they may have "opened up" too much allowing all of the rounds to pop up as the top round is pushed forward.
-
The location is the reason I quit going. The lighting is so poor in that facility that you need a flashlight to view anything!

Not at the time and not the same unit. Later we may or may not had been in some of the same JTFs based on the named operations. Other than his work on my Gold Cup years earlier, I only knew Larry directly after he retired and was working for H&K and the Army was looking at the MP8. In fact I had forgotten that he was the "1911 guy" who had fixed my Colt. I didn't put that together until a day at the range and we got to discussing IDPA stuff & 1911s. I tried to hide my surprise when I realized he was the "Vickers" of the "Vickers Count."
-
Yup! Larry was the 1911 man around Bragg back when he was smithing. He did an action job on my Gold Cup long before any of us were famous. Back then he was just Larry who fixed 1911 problems.
-
I reckon that is only fair since the Ruger LCP is just a rip off of the Kel-Tec P-3AT.

That is the best comment I have heard in regard to Obama.
-
Well Dang - - - Those software writers have made my comment OBE!

So my statement that HCP status is not "automatically" provided & the LEO must "request" (or be given) makes my statements correct. I have LEOs in the family at the local/state/federal level from rookie patrol officer to SES-2 and they tell be that HCP status is not something given to them when the DL is run - - - not that the Federal LEO would ever ask. In fact it brings out all sort of "probable cause" issues to even request the information during a normal traffic stop....., which the lawyers in my family like to point out. BUT - - - When the officer asks you to step out of the car it becomes a whole new ballgame. At that point they like you to have both hands on the steering wheel and slowly say, "Officer, I have a Carry Permit......, I am currently carrying......, how do you wish for me to proceed?" Whatever you do don't use the word "handgun/gun/firearm/pistol/hogleg, etc., etc. since that might be the only thing the officer hears just as he draws his weapon on you.
-
There is no requirement to hand the LEO your HCP unless they ask for it. The LEO will not be automatically alerted that you have a HCP when they run your DL. In order to find out if you have a HCP during the DL run the LEO must request that information.

And that is a BAD Thing??????
-
I have gone to my last NASCAR race. The last one I went to, they were all racing IROC spec cars (COT). The Man in the Black #3 would never allow this.......
-
What - Dang - Did I miss another one of Joe's deals!!!!!!!

Good piece of work. One of these days I have got to get back to shooting some HP. Just too many IDPA & 3-Gun deals nearer to me.

Parabellum is the owner of the S&W Forum. The Fugates didn't spam the forum - - - They hacked the forum and stole all of the members' email addresses from Parabellum. Then they spamed all of us with emails. When asked to stop they sent several members emails full of hate and cussing. They didn't stop until contacted by an agency that took their thief of the emails as a serious crime. The Fugates also are being watched by GunBroker & Auction Arms for using several fake names to run up their auctions. Check for any listing by "fugotti" or "lastbidder" and you will notice the same names will jump in on an auction and run the price up and then quit bidding. Also be aware of "cmannie" who is one of the Fugates' bidders. The Sig Forum has also ban them and the Colt Forum has a moderator who tracks them anytime their IP address signs on. I'm not against a business making money, but John & Matt Fugate are A-Holes!
