  1. If the 10 round mag is U.S. made that would be 3 of the U.S. required parts. If you put a Commie mag in it, now you would have 3 additional foreign parts. Number of rounds in the mag does not matter to 922r, only where it is made. Yea, I know...., sort of dumb.
  2. Hi-Cap really has nothing to do with 922r. Its where the mag is made. For 922r a mag counts as 3 parts, follower, floorplate, body. You can use a U.S. made mag and get 3 parts for 922r, or replace the follower and floorplate on foreign mags and get 2.
  3. That is a completely different case of BATFE abuse, but it didn't involve 922r.
  4. Not that I have ever heard and it would have been all over the internet if it had ever happened. I would think that once BATF got around to the 922r stuff it already would have some Big & Bad charges against an individual. The 922r would be just piling on for a press release about illegal weapons. BUT, JUST FOR FUN - - - head over to any of the AK forums and say you don't worry about 922r.
  5. Tell that to Tennessee Guns. My understanding that it was 922r issues that forced TGI out of the AK business after the ATF paid them a visit last year.
  6. Here is a good link for 922r Gunwiki: 922® Worksheet for AK-47 Builds Key is that the weapon can have NO MORE than 10 imported parts. Therefore, depending on the AK model sometimes you only need 5 U.S. made parts. As far as the FCG goes, if Century Arms was the importer - - -they "might" have marked their parts with a small "c." Check the gas piston also, it could be marked with "c" if its a CAI gun.
  7. Yea, me too! But I don't think they could ever bring back something like the Python without it costing thousands of dollars. It would have to be a highend custom gun that would be of limited production to a small market of hardcore Colt collectors. The master gunsmiths who put those old classic wheelguns together are long lost to Colt. You can't get that type of skill & knowledge back overnight. If you ever take the sideplate off of a Colt you'll understand why. Its like a watch. Screw up something on a S&W and you replace that one part - - - Screw up a Colt and its start all over again matching & fitting each and every part to each other.
  8. I agree - - - Those old turn-ins work for me! Model 19-3. Bill Jordon would approve!
  9. Yea I was waiting on somebody to post that it was a Bad, Bad, Deal....., and then ask for the name of the gun store.
  10. If its $299.95 "Out-The-Door" I say its a good deal.
  11. Well, "today" I think my best-looking gun is my Colt MK IV, Series 70, Gold Cup National Match. Its both a Camp Perry and "Three Conflict" Vet. I like to claim that it may be the last know Gold Cup carried in combat..., this was before the Army got all uptight about personal weapons while deployed. And Yup, that some honest holster wear on it!
  12. My Vote for the Best Food Review of all time! Well Done...., And I Agree 100%!
  13. In regard to HBO's "The Pacific" and "Band of Brothers." JMHO, but I feel that my Marine friends are getting less than they deserve with "Pacific" when compared with what we Paratroopers got with "BoB." In fact, I get the feeling that HBO is going out of its way to show the Corps in a less than magnificent light. In a couple of scenes Marines are shown committing war crimes (killing wounded, pulling gold teeth from the dead, etc., etc.). Also, Basilone's actions on the night that earned him the MOH are given short shift, its almost as if firing a watercool Browning without his glove and burning his arm while doing so was the major reason for the award. And....., How can HBO not explain to the viewers who Chesty Puller is and why he IS the Heart & Soul of the Corps! Comments?
  14. You're Welcome. Mailed the IRS a 4 figure check on 1 April (Yup Fool's Day) and it was cashed on 6 April.
  15. Agree with Todd. AK-74s are the current Best-Bang for the buck. Centerfire Systems is selling them for $369.99 - DELIVERED! Centerfire Systems, Inc. - Your Home For Ammo, Firearms, Magazines, and Gun Accessories Just make sure to clean them quick, most 5.45 ammo is corrosive.
  16. If I had to pick my best looking hangun, right now I would say...... Smith & Wesson Model 27-2 with 3.5 inch barrel.
  17. I had a HP in .40 for a little while. Turns out that I'm a wimp and didn't like the feel of the weapon because of the recoil from the pressure of the .40 that resulted in high slide velocity. I know that Browning gave the .40 HP with a much heavier slide, but to me that screwed up the balance of the weapon. Sort of like dropping a bigger engine in a car, you have more power but you also added weight. Nothing against the .40 round itself. I find the Glock 22 to be the perfect duty sidearm (so long as you train not to shoot yourself in the leg with one). You can find Speigel grips here..... Lightning Arms Sports Now if ya will excuse me..., its time to for me and the HP to head to Easter services. Later,
  18. Your desire for a Browning Hi=Power is most worthwhile pursuit. I prefer it in 9mm as I feel one in .40 S&W upsets the balance that was JMB's masterpiece. A BHP was..., and now once again my primary Daily Carry along with a S&W MDL 37 as my backup. Custom Browning Hi-Power. Novak FBI package. Grips by Craig Spegel.
  19. I think Joe is right. The SAPI plates would be Black and look something like these.
  20. Based on the date, sounds like they could be Interceptor SAPI plates that were carried in the OTV "Outer Tactical Vest." They are Level IV and should stop assault rifle type rounds (i.e. 7.62x39mm) at 0 meters, to include armor piercing AK rounds, 5.56mm SS109, etc. SOCOM units were wearing it back in the 90s. No longer current issue. During that time the Ranger REGT also fielded Ranger Body Armor (well illustrated in the film Black Hawk Down), with performance generally similar to Interceptor but heavier. I'm not sure on the exact chain of ownership (because I didn't ask ), but I know some non-Ranger units in XVIII Airborne Corps also used RBA before getting Interceptor. I'm sure Joe at Hero-Gear has humped around in both.
  21. OK..., If ever a thread required the following - - - This is that thread! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
  22. Ohhhhh...., There was some "ACTION." Love those Aussie Gals.
  23. It was back at this weekend's show. Seller said that since it was Sunday, he would let me have for...... $800.00 It Did Not come home with me.
