For IDPA, go to GoodWill and buy a cheap suit jacket for $5.00. Agree with jackdm3's comment about concealment vests. The "tac-cool" look is also the "shoot-me-first" look.

We do a 50 shot 200 yard Military/Service Rifle Match every third Sat at the Gallatin Gun Club using NRA High Power rules. We have folks shooting from pre-teens to those of us who are a bit more - - - "seasoned." Today among the ARs we had M1s, K31s and I shot one of my M1917s for this match. So us "CMP" types fit right in. We're doing a marksmanship clinic next month on 16 Oct, come on out and shoot with us. PM me if you'd like more info.

Even sillier is that you can replace the follower or floorplate of the mag with US parts...., or use a complete US made mag for three parts. The BATF doesn't consider the firearm "assembled" until the mag is installed. And even more silliness - - - there is NO requirement that the replaced parts be marked as "US" or any other ID! And if you really want to start a flame-war..., log onto any of the AK Forums and start a 922r discussion with the question, "Has any private individual ever been charged with a 922r violation?"

Mike, Everybody can shoot. Don't have to be a member of the GGC. Match setup begins by 8:00 am, Registration will be from 8:00 am until 9:15 am. A mandatory shooter's meeting is held at 9:15. Matches begin at 9:30 and we move between stages by squads. I don't recall the fee for non GGC members. If you come, just wait at the gate and a GGC member will drive up and will let you in. Don't forget to bring a good holster, belt and at least 3 mags. Other info can be found here...... Gallatin Gun Club Web Site Its really a good group to shoot with, real helpful with anybody shooting with us for the first time regardless of their skill level. I'll admit to being about the only anal one in the bunch as I spout-off about rules, equipment, tactics and the folks who don't help to paste targets between shooters. Come On Out!

Or you can Really Man Up and shoot some Soviet D heavy ball (182 grains) out of a M44!

Follow this link and click on the BattleRifles section. Militaryfirearm - Powered by vBulletin Most of the former members of CETME.com (now closed) are there. The "stickies" hold a vast knowledge of how to checkout and run that weapon. Enjoy!

Those Cheap G3 Mags are right here! MAG-304 - Mag H&K .308 G3 Aluminum 20 Rounds Made in Germany Used Good Cond Agree with oldsmobile98 that there are some good G3 builders & parts suppliers out there right now. Heck, they can even take a Century Arms CETME and make it run.

Well DANG! I had so hoped that those Smiths were pinned & recessed Model 65-1s with a 3 inch barrel. I was planning on making a low-ball offer that would still have doubled RB's money. Nothing worth following in this thread now....., time to un-subscribe. Later,

My DSA built FAL is accurate..., as accurate as any battle rifle needs to be. It fulfills Jeff Cooper's demand that a rifle, "be capable of striking a single decisive blow, on a live target of up to 200 kilos in weight, at any distance at which the operator can shoot with the precision necessary to place a shot in a vital area of the target." I used it as my 3-Gun rifle for a couple of years just to be different and because I didn't want to shoot my "work-gun" (the M4). The FAL is my SHTF weapon. Now that its clear that you are looking to take long range shots with an auto loader in 7.62, I would recommend the Knight's Armament SR-25. Knight's Armament Company

No Question - - - FAL. What we should have selected over the M14 back in the 50s. If we had, prehaps the M16 would have never happened and our troops in the fight right now would be shooting a round that really matters. JMHO.
-
And let me guess, the trade-ins were both round butt, P&R, with a 3 inch barrel. Think I'll go by RB today and asked if they have any $80 S&W Model 65s for sale.......

Folks, No Loaded Firearms in the case of a Gun Store is more of a safety issue than a political one. You would be surprised how often somebody brings in a firearm to sale AND ITS LOADED. The sign is an attempt to get some folks to engage their brains. And it applies to all. I once saw an on duty LEO bring his department issued shotgun into a local store for the gunsmith to look over. The first thing the 'smith did was clear the weapon and he found it to be loaded. The LEO got an earfull about the correct way to hand somebody a firearm. And guess what - - - In the military we don't allow loaded weapons anywhere near an arms room. In fact, most have these signs saying "NO LOADED WEAPONS." Now if only a Gun Store would place a bullet trap barrel outside its door so that I could clear before I entry...., That place would get massive cool points from me!

Yea, its sort of hard to talk movies while doing push-ups for the Drill. Some trivial for ya. The man who commanded the "Little Birds" in Operation Gothic Serpent just retired this year as a full colonel and now lives in Murfreesboro.

A great movie that does justice to those in the fight. But, its a bit too personal for me..., I've only been able to watch it once.

HELP - Need Glock Rear Sight Install

HELP! I'm looking for where I can get a set of Trijicon Night Sights install on a G19 - - - Right Now in the Nashville area! Son is heading to a LEO course where he needs night sights and we are running out of time. I looked at just doing the drift in method with a punch and hammer..., but these night sights could use a press tool better. If anybody can help, just post to this thread. Thanks,

Well..., looks like all of that promised "Dwell Time" between deployments hasn't increased any since I retired. Good Luck & Good Hunting!

Alumni of Cleveland State Law Enforcement Training Academy
DMark replied to DMark's topic in General Chat
Yup..., I told my son that he needed to get out of the gym and start beating some pavement. This came as sort of a nice surprise. He applied last year, but being a college student he was the lowest priority. For the last two classes, departments have loaded up the Academy with recent hires and all of the college types have been knocked off the list. Now we're jumping thru hoops to get him ready since this will be on his (Dad's) dime. Uniforms, duty rigs, etc., etc. Anybody have a spare stock Glock 17...., He has buttload of mags, but I think my son's G34 that is thicked out for IDPA might not fly with the range officers.
