Problem with safety / trigger on m1903
DMark replied to Wingshooter's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Batman, I think you are correct about getting a new firing pin. You can see the wear on the firing pin notch where the safety engages. Looks like the old safety wasn't fitted too well. When you get the new firing pin in, check the width of the safety lug and make sure that it isn't too wide for the notch. BTW - - - We'll need pictures of the Rock Island...., it the rule! -
"..... It requires ammunition buyers who are not licensed dealers to present photo identification at the time of purchase, effectively banning the online or mail order purchase of ammo by regular civilians....." ID for ammo....., but DEMs are against ID for voting?
-
I've been telling everybody around me for the past year to Buy Ammo. Don't be surprised if the ATF cancels the import of any ammo. That will the first step and will give Barry Hussein the cover to issue executive orders to limit the shipping of US produced ammo via UPS/FEDEX. He will claim he must act because Congress won't! The "Shot Heard Around The World" was first fired at Lexington because the British were coming for the militia's gunpowder and shot at Concord. The King of England wanted to dis-arm his "subjects." History repeating itself?

TMF 18B, I'm sure you are correct. Interesting, was it a local purchased or via the Class V system? Here is the issued stuff. Headstamp will be FC for Federal or WCC for Winchester along with the NATO "circle +" stamp. Getting back on topic...... The USMC will be using ammunition nomenclature Cartridge, Caliber .45, Ball, M1911 NSN 1305-00-555-7077. It is packaged 50 rounds per carton, 20 cartons per M2A1 ammo can.

Army issue is actually 124 grain M882 9mm NATO which is pressured at 36,500 PSI. When compared to most standard 115 grain, 34,083 PSI 9mm ammo as found at Walmart, the 9mm NATO ammo is running a higher pressure, analogous to a 9mm +P load. The requirement for this higher pressure round can be traced back to the need for it to run in subguns. You'll find that an issued M9 will often short stroke when using the lower pressure "Walmart" ammo. The spring setup is for the higher pressure 9mm NATO. Academy Sports often stocks the M882 and I have seen it pop up at Walmart ever so often. And yes Winchester does load it.

I think the OP's comment was about how a business "hid" their sign. There is a concern among many of us that a business will go out of its way to make the sign as hard to see as possible. The state congress needs to fix this by correcting the current law with a clear understanding of the type & location of the sign (as the old law did). wd-40 - - - This was never about you. So as an attempt to bring this discussion back on topic before it goes beyond outrageous..., I think its time to bring out the "Big Toe" himself...., SFC Hulka! Dave, this is for you!

I much as I love the 1911. It would not be my first choice as an issued weapon today. Back in 2002-2003 I took part in the Joint Combat Pistol Program (JCP). The handgun that really impressed me was the FNX-45 Tactical. 15+1 rounds of 45 ACP is a very good thing. http://www.fnhusa.com/le/products/fi...fid=FNF062&gid However, I am not saying that the USMC made a bad choice. For the unique mission and the trained end users of this Colt, it is fine weapon.

OK, how about this one! I think this sign would clearly express the wish of the business owner - - - AND the possible results.
-
BINGO! We have a Winner. Could not agree with you more.
-
Sniper23, Haven't been to Kings in a while. Might have to check them out. Thanks,
-
Isn't it sort of odd that the action of a business can result in a misdemeanor charge for what is otherwise a legal action (HCP)? Wouldn't it be interesting if there was a law that stated that the business would be charged with a misdemeanor if their gunbuster sign wasn't in clear view. There is such a law - - - for the health inspection score.
-
Colts? COLTS? Did you mention - - - COLTS!!!!!!!! Where are these Colts that you speak of? Were any in .38 Super?
-
A SIG!!!!!!!!! Well DONE Sniper23! OK, this will shock some folks on the forum being that I'm sort of know as a Old School Colt guy. But JMHO...., The current Sig is the best value for the money 1911 out there right now. Yes I have one (TACOPS), and Yes they are very accurate!
-
Tim, I heard there was something different about the R1s. What did Remington do? Thanks,
-
The owner Dennis is a good guy. Ben, the Gunsmith @ Lebanon Gun Shop, has been several jobs for me without any issues.
-
Will..., That is even better. Here is a good place to visit for interesting 10mm reload discussions. http://www.ar15armory.com/forums/Home-Brew-forum-Reloadi-f253.html

Will, This link will help you fix that lack of shooting it problem. http://georgia-arms.com/10mm-1.aspx
-
Sure. No reason not to use them when shooting a 10mm.

Colt Delta Elite = 10mm The factory setup is a dual recoil spring rated at 23 pounds. With the EGW flat base firing pin stop and the guide rod you can get down to a 20 pounds on the recoil spring when shooting "FBI Lite" range loads. 22 pounds seems to be the happy spot for this DE running hotter loads. I'm also running a 20 pound mainspring.

The ejection port was lowered enough to true up the lines, with live round ejection clearance and a flare. Yup, those are brass marks on the top of the slide - - - Ya didn't think I wouldn't shoot it. From the Build Sheet - - - Reliability package Clark two piece guide rod with 22 lb spring Trijicon HD night sights. C&S Wide Thumb Safety S&A Grip Safety with bump Colt Steel Mainspring Housing Harrison Design Short trigger Action job, trigger at 3.5lbs Wilson Combat Tactical Mag Release EGW Flat Base Firing Pin Stop Slight beveled mag well Mild dehorn of the slide What really surprised me was the quick turn around from Colt, ten weeks. I was first told 4 to 6 months. I've fired about 300 rounds so far with it using GA Arms range loads along with Hornady & Buffalo Bore carry loads. Happy to report, No Issues!
