  1. Nice Work! Post the contact info for Eric Kovachic at EWK Arms.
  2. Mike Chase, owner of Calhouns Restaurants in Knoxville, Gatlinburg and Nashville.
  3. TMF 18B, I'm sure you are correct. Interesting, was it a local purchased or via the Class V system? Here is the issued stuff. Headstamp will be FC for Federal or WCC for Winchester along with the NATO "circle +" stamp. Getting back on topic...... The USMC will be using ammunition nomenclature Cartridge, Caliber .45, Ball, M1911 NSN 1305-00-555-7077. It is packaged 50 rounds per carton, 20 cartons per M2A1 ammo can.
  4. Army issue is actually 124 grain M882 9mm NATO which is pressured at 36,500 PSI. When compared to most standard 115 grain, 34,083 PSI 9mm ammo as found at Walmart, the 9mm NATO ammo is running a higher pressure, analogous to a 9mm +P load. The requirement for this higher pressure round can be traced back to the need for it to run in subguns. You'll find that an issued M9 will often short stroke when using the lower pressure "Walmart" ammo. The spring setup is for the higher pressure 9mm NATO. Academy Sports often stocks the M882 and I have seen it pop up at Walmart ever so often. And yes Winchester does load it.
  5. I think the OP's comment was about how a business "hid" their sign. There is a concern among many of us that a business will go out of its way to make the sign as hard to see as possible. The state congress needs to fix this by correcting the current law with a clear understanding of the type & location of the sign (as the old law did). wd-40 - - - This was never about you. So as an attempt to bring this discussion back on topic before it goes beyond outrageous..., I think its time to bring out the "Big Toe" himself...., SFC Hulka! Dave, this is for you!
  6. I much as I love the 1911. It would not be my first choice as an issued weapon today. Back in 2002-2003 I took part in the Joint Combat Pistol Program (JCP). The handgun that really impressed me was the FNX-45 Tactical. 15+1 rounds of 45 ACP is a very good thing. http://www.fnhusa.com/le/products/fi...fid=FNF062&gid However, I am not saying that the USMC made a bad choice. For the unique mission and the trained end users of this Colt, it is fine weapon.

  9. OK, how about this one! I think this sign would clearly express the wish of the business owner - - - AND the possible results.
  10. BINGO! We have a Winner. Could not agree with you more.
  11. Sniper23, Haven't been to Kings in a while. Might have to check them out. Thanks,
  12. Isn't it sort of odd that the action of a business can result in a misdemeanor charge for what is otherwise a legal action (HCP)? Wouldn't it be interesting if there was a law that stated that the business would be charged with a misdemeanor if their gunbuster sign wasn't in clear view. There is such a law - - - for the health inspection score.
  13. Colts? COLTS? Did you mention - - - COLTS!!!!!!!! Where are these Colts that you speak of? Were any in .38 Super?
  14. A SIG!!!!!!!!! Well DONE Sniper23! OK, this will shock some folks on the forum being that I'm sort of know as a Old School Colt guy. But JMHO...., The current Sig is the best value for the money 1911 out there right now. Yes I have one (TACOPS), and Yes they are very accurate!
  15. Tim, I heard there was something different about the R1s. What did Remington do? Thanks,
  16. The owner Dennis is a good guy. Ben, the Gunsmith @ Lebanon Gun Shop, has been several jobs for me without any issues.
  17. Will..., That is even better. Here is a good place to visit for interesting 10mm reload discussions. http://www.ar15armory.com/forums/Home-Brew-forum-Reloadi-f253.html
  18. Will, This link will help you fix that lack of shooting it problem. http://georgia-arms.com/10mm-1.aspx
  19. Sure. No reason not to use them when shooting a 10mm.
  20. Colt Delta Elite = 10mm The factory setup is a dual recoil spring rated at 23 pounds. With the EGW flat base firing pin stop and the guide rod you can get down to a 20 pounds on the recoil spring when shooting "FBI Lite" range loads. 22 pounds seems to be the happy spot for this DE running hotter loads. I'm also running a 20 pound mainspring.
  21. The ejection port was lowered enough to true up the lines, with live round ejection clearance and a flare. Yup, those are brass marks on the top of the slide - - - Ya didn't think I wouldn't shoot it. From the Build Sheet - - - Reliability package Clark two piece guide rod with 22 lb spring Trijicon HD night sights. C&S Wide Thumb Safety S&A Grip Safety with bump Colt Steel Mainspring Housing Harrison Design Short trigger Action job, trigger at 3.5lbs Wilson Combat Tactical Mag Release EGW Flat Base Firing Pin Stop Slight beveled mag well Mild dehorn of the slide What really surprised me was the quick turn around from Colt, ten weeks. I was first told 4 to 6 months. I've fired about 300 rounds so far with it using GA Arms range loads along with Hornady & Buffalo Bore carry loads. Happy to report, No Issues!
  22. Trust me, the sides are very, very flat. Again, just my poor photography. What appears to be waves are the reflection of tree limbs overhead. I took these pics outside trying to find better light. The polishing and the deep blue job made this one hard to capture in a picture. Depends on how we count Delta Elites. This is my third one, but its the only "current" one in my carrying rotation. And of course its in 10mm. I've come late to the cult of 38 Super. Its a great round IMHO. Why anyone would want to force a 1911 to run 9mm when the 38 Super is already there (and designed for the 1911) is a total mystery to me. The Hi-Power is the choice to make in a classic design if 9mm is to be used . Looking forward to seeing your & Magiccarpetrides' BHPs when Tim is finished with them. Among Hi-Power aficionados, your alloy is one of the holy grails !
  23. TMF 18B, Agree with all you stated. "Murkiness" of the law doesn't do anybody any good. From my undergrad education in political science, I know that this will require the council members to do something they hate to do - - - admit that they passed a poor law. The best way to fix this will be a low-key effort that lets the professional politicans off the hook by passing a correction that is hidden inside a bigger bill.
  24. Forgive me - - - By your question, I can only assume that you've never seen an 1980s production Delta Elite. Here is a before picture with most all of the finish gone on the slide. I kept this build simple. The custom shop had to replaced and recut the grip safety to fix the poor install by the other gunsmith. Adding the heavy duty Trijicon night sights along with the lowered and flared ejection port was done to give it the look of a Colt Special Combat Government as they were made back in the 1990s. Sorry for the poor after photos. My limited skills in photography were exceeded by the bright reflection coming off the deep blue finish as applied by the Colt Custom Shop. Good Day!
