I'm Shocked I tell you..., SHOCKED! A Robert Standley 3-Gun match with NO Slugs or Buckshot.
-
Undershirts! David, I can see where having these Warthogs on a firearm being carried IWB would be a problem. This old fully loaded has been my IDPA & 3Gun-Heavy Metal sidearm for near 10 years. Now that cooler weather is coming, I wanted something that I could grip well while wearing gloves. One of these days I'm going to send this 1911 back to the SA custom shop for a bit of refreshing...., maybe some front strap checkering. But for now it'll run just fine the way it is. BTW - - - For those who have never seen holster wear on a stainless firearm, here is what it looks like.
-
I think all of Larry's grips are G10. Very happy with the way that these grips match up with the S&A magwell. Also, never had a left grip panel with the mag release thumb cutout. Reckon I'm sort of stepping out of my traditional, old-school thinking that 1911s should only have cocobolo, rosewood, or walnut grips with full or double diamond checkering.

That sudden release of seismic wave energy in the earth's crust that some of you might have just felt was my fault. I finally install something other than wood grips on a 1911. Larry Davidson's Warthogs in Black & Gray. Installed on my worn-in, but never worn-out SA fully loaded. They are 'grippy!"

Zombie Match - Music City Tactical Shooters
DMark replied to HOGNUT's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
WELL DANG! I have to attend something on the 20th that I can't get out of...... And I had stockpiled all of this Zombie Killing 10mm. -
Here it is with all of the stock hardware. Note the red arrow pointed to the edge on the grip safety that was giving me problems. Now with the Kimber Grip Safety. Even the blend into the tang of the frame is better. Also shown is the Novak wide-notch rear sight and the C&S thumb safety.

For a while I realized that I needed (wanted) a railed 1911 to instruct with. I've had several folks shooting railed 1911s during low-light training and I like to be shooting the same type weapon as everybody taking the instruction. I've never really like the "looks" of a railed 1911, but the SIG just seem right to me - - - maybe its the slide profile. Thanks to forum member "jcoosi" who listed this TACOPS in the for sale section, I now can say that my need (want) has been satisfied. I'm impressed with this SIG TACOPS...., this coming from an old-school Colt guy. They are IMHO the most undervalued 1911 on the market right now. The only dislike I had was the grip safety. The shape of the OEM grip safety's upper tang has an edge that cuts into my thumb using a high hold. After a run of training I'd have a blister on the inside of my thumb joint. One day while doing a detail cleaning I was looking at the SIG's tang and it sure did seem to have the same cut and shape as a Kimber. So....., I had a spare Kimber grip safety in my parts box and figured, while not give it a try. It was a Drop-In! A little bit of fitting, a safety function test, and after a few hundred rounds - - - No More Bite from my SIG! Some of you might think of this as blasphemy, putting a Kimber part on a SIG, but Dang - - - Even the Finish Matched! These are the other mods that I have done to this TACOPS. - Novak rear sight with "Super Wide" .170 notch. - Harrison Design Extreme Service Trigger, Medium. - Cylinder & Slide High Grip Wide Extended Thumb Safety. - Ed Brown Double Diamond Checkered Cocobolo Grips. These parts are found on most of my other 1911s. I'm not a big fan of having an ambi-safety on the 1911, yet I found the stubbie one on the SIG to be worth trying. After running the gun for a while, I found engaging it with gloves on to be an issue for me, thus back to my normal C&S safety. I have John Harrison's trigger on all of my 1911, most being the short one. With the TACOPS I'm trying the medium trigger since I found the OEM supplied ERGO grigs to be thin. Even after installing the trigger the ERGO's thickest just didn't feel right, so I installed a set of the Ed Brown grips. The "Super Wide" Novak rear takes into account my "seasoned & experienced" eyesight.

Not this first time that Rick Uselton has filed and left others holding an empty bag.

I first saw a Haka performed by an New Zealand Parachute Battalion visiting Bragg when I was a young Paratrooper. At the time I found it to be an interesting war chat for a military unit...., now I understand it to be a true insight into the Maori warrior. Since many members of the New Zealand Defense Force are Maori, their traditions are part of their military culture. The Haka is a traditional war dance normally performed in advance of a battle to challenge and intimidate the enemy. A Haka performed at a funeral is use to challenge the deceased to pass into the underworld, and to herald their coming to Tumatauenga, the Maori God of War. From what I have learned, one of the fallen was a sniper, thus the escort in the gillie suit. The escorts in white gloves are also all badged snipers. The officer kneeling by the hearse is LT COL Steph Michie, Commanding Officer, 2nd/1st Infantry. The Haka is 2/1st's own. I wish I knew the exact translation, but a friend tells me that it talks about being forged in the fires of hell and destroying the enemy. Aggression, Anger and Pride all rolled up into one. Well Done!

Hmmmmmm..... 82 rounds of birdshot. Could be a good tune up for Dove Season Opening Day on 1 Sep. -
StPatrick, Excellent Analysis!

And the liberal media that will worship at the feet of Barry Hussein and then oversamples Dems in their polls by 9-11%.
-
I really, Really, REALLY Like Paul Ryan. I'm sure when the Dems see these pictures they will claim that he pushed a old, blind, minority female with a spanish name, in a wheelchair off a cliff while taking her EBT card and free cellphone away from her as he was shooting these poor animals with an evil full auto AK-47. AND...., He drove a huge SUV with ethanol free gas in the tank on the way to do it.

Too many years on Jump Status. They are both "weak" now! But what the Heck...., I'll see ya Saturday!
-
Hmmmmm....., Reverse Strong Hand - - - Its been a while, but now you've got me thinking.......
-
After two months with my left hand in a soft cast, I might have to forgo all of those weak hand strings. Doc said it will be several weeks before my strenght is back to where it was before messing up my thumb. Just go ahead and mark those strings as "Ten Down with a Failure to Neutralized" on my scorecard.

Sort of hard to miss.......

Thanks for the reply Tim. BTW...., Nice Work!
-
Tim, With the slide cuts that you made, was there any change in the recoil spring setup? Thanks,
-
That is still far better than what most voters in the 57th District would say about the incumbent that Lynn defeated, "Linda Elam - - - Who is She?"
