  1. The 300 yard range was a boilerplate overlay that was being used as we prepared to go forward with the all of the county planning meeting. With the vertical relief we had to the east, I was sure that 400 was doable with a possible 500 yard for some of the firing positions. But kept running into why things weren't fitting toward the south. Started to wonder if I had defaulted to meters instead of yards since I was having to convert the small arms surface danger zones (SDZ) figures from meters into yards ..., but that wouldn't have added up with the plot problems. 30 less acres will sort of mess with your templates!
  2. The seller listed the property as 135 acres and the survey came back at 105 acres. That sort of explains why we were having trouble fitting everything into the footprint of the plot boundaries. Seller was also making noise that they wouldn't back off their asking price - - - the old "I have another buyer interested" deal. Had we paid, it would have made those 105 acres just about the most expensive land in Trousdale county!
  3. Dang Walt, please tell me you weren't also wearing your pajamas.
  4. Epic......, this thread is just Epic! Goodnight TankerHC wherever you are.........
  5. Enjoyed it Jcoop! Good stages with some exceptional tight cover shots.
  6. I planned on coming, but this morning I woke up to a plumbing problem in the house........
  7. "...... There is not many problems that a Man cannot fix, with $500 or a 30.06......"
  8. Well not all of us use a goofy vest...... Also don't recall ever having to move around back when I shot Bullseye. However that was a long, long time ago and my Master qualification card is no longer current so things might be different now.
  9. My Colt will fit with the OEM flat welded based mag, won't fit with my CMC or WC mags. I can see where having a taller rear sight and/or an different grip safety with a longer extended beavertail would be a problem. Of course a few minutes with a Dremel can take care of all of those issues!
  10. 7 3/4 x 5 3/8 x 1 3/8. Yup...., but just barely. Might have to go with a Wilson Combat Concealment Grip Safety just to make sure. Hmmmmm...., funny how a WC part would make that work.
  11. Damn It - - - Its LtCol Jeff Cooper...., NOT Colonel Jeff Cooper! (page 3). - Well it looks like the gamers are finally going to get their "fault lines" for cover (Visible Cover Reference Lines) with Rule 3.5.4. Trust this will let us SOs focus on muzzle and trigger fingers more. - I've come to the realization after nearly 20 years for SOing IDPA that Air Gunning should be allowed for safety reasons. Watching new shooters "point" in the wrong direction (as in breaking the 180 rule) has educated me that air gunning is a good thing. Besides, experienced shooters are already getting sight pictures with their eyes as they do their walk through, you can watch their heads move as they plan their shot placements. Rule 3.3.2 should be removed. - Yipeeeeeee, with new Rule 4 the scores will align with the numbers on the target (1 down = 1 second added, etc., etc). This was the original intent when Larry Vickers designed the targets...., but Bill Wilson changed the scoring after the targets were copyrighted and since Bill was the founder putting up the money he was first among equals. Also this will help us liberal arts majors since that old .5 second deal was hard to count up using our fingers and toes. - Good News - - - The Colt Commander (the original compact carry) is now legal in CCP. Rule 8.2.4.1.3 has changed the barrel length to 4.375 inch or less. - Good News/Bad News - - - Rule 8.2.7 Pistol Caliber Carbine - GOOD! Rule 8.2.7.1.4 PCC Minimum barrel length of 10 inches - BAD! Where did 10 inches come from? Did anybody at IDPA HQ take the trouble to see what PCC barrels lengths are out there? A call to PSA would have informed them that 8 inch and under are some of their best sellers. What about the MP5 worshippers (like 173rdABN)? The longest barrel HK makes for a MP5 is 8.9 inches. OK , those are just some of my comments after a quick review, and yes I will forward these to the rulebook review.
  12. Robert, Is this going to be the "Last Real" IDPA match and the others will be Outlaw?
  13. Should have gone to Manchester........... ......... Wasted a beauty of a day watching the Titans!
  14. I remember. Later that night 33 years ago the Division Ready Brigade of the 82nd Airborne at Ft. Bragg was alerted. I was part of it. We knew it had to be the real deal because the arms room was issuing out bayonets - - - something that the Division wouldn't dare authorize unless it was for combat....., or the annual All American Week Division Review parade. Everybody was running around wondering what it was going to be like to make a combat jump into Beirut, Lebanon. It was still some time before it became known that another operation was already underway and we would be heading south to the island of Grenada.
  15. That was Fun! Shooting a RETRO Black Rifle ready makes me appreciate the advancements we've made in sighting systems. And what a perfect day to be outside. To think that elsewhere there were folks running around hitting a little white ball on land that would otherwise be a fine rifle range. Thanks to all of my GRGC friends to putting on these matches.
  16. WINNER! David, you can close this thread now.
  17. I was on I-40 West when I got CatsEye's post above at 4:25 PM that it was pistol caliber only for carbines. Turned around and went back home since I was going to shoot one of my AK based SBRs. Too Bad - - - The Fireball coming out of that short AK barrel and SLR single port muzzle brake would have been Epic.........
  18. Does that mean that Carbine HAS to be pistol caliber?????
  19. So I'm loading up my Mags and getting my Gear ready for tonight and it occurred to me that I have no idea what "Defensive Carbine & Action Pistol" actually means. Can anybody tell me what the rules are? Do we download the mags or can we load to design capacity? Can we run our 3Gun gear or are we limited to a "concealment" belt and holster? Or....., can we just shoot Not For Competition with whatever we bring?
  20. Belarusian Optical and Mechanical Association (BelOMO) PK-01 VS Red Dot Scope. Along with another case of WOLF 5.45x39
  21. Well since its a Halloween match you can........
  22. = Woo-Hoo! interjection \ˈwü-ˈhü, ˌwü-\ Used to express exuberant delight or approval. In other words, this is my favorite MCTS match and this year I'll be able to attend.
