  1. :stir: All you need to know about Yeager...... Reckon he was running away from the contact to make another youtube video about how bad-ass awesome he his. :puke:
  2. Correct. We sure don't need any NDs with injuries by new owners of AR type rifles. That would give a thrill going up the leg of the "Never Let A Good Crisis Go To Waste" political thugs and their propaganda media machine. I would recommend that every gun store offer free instruction (and I mean Certified INSTRUCTION) with every sale. Otherwise we'll see more of this..... At least his finger is off of the trigger.
  3. Folks,   With all of the new gun owners out there, it might be a good time to think about Safety.   When you take that new-gun-owner-first-time-ever-shooting-any-firearm-buddy of your's to the range, Please keep a close eye on them.    They don't know what they don't know - - - sweeping others with their muzzle, finger on the trigger, etc., etc......, I even saw one walk out in the impact area while the range was hot.   In each case their "experienced" gun owner friend was doing their own thing and not taking the time to teach, mentor, and observe what the new shooter was doing.   Stay Aware and Be Careful Out There.   Mark NRA Instructor & Coach CMP Master Instructor
  4. Interesting.  Now I understand your comment about possible recoil.
  5. 18" Barrel?   From the pics I would have guessed 20-22" for the lenght.   BTW - - - Does the scope have crosshairs or a post?
  6.   We Pump Shotgun Guys THANK YOU!  :woohoo:
  7. They have noticed and here they are spending it all......
  8.   Unlike the retired history professor, William X. Andrews, who as the quest opinion writer on page 5A called anyone who feared stronger gun control laws....,   "...... militiaman plotting to overthrow the government, a neo-Confederate embracing secession, a neo-Nazi awaiting a race war, a xenophobe frightened by people with accents, an antisocial paranoid off his medication, or a survivalist anticipating some apocalyptic convulsion......"    :squint:
  9. Brian,   Well written story on the object that the killer used.   When will the Tennessean publish a story on the psychiatric medications that he was taking?
  10.   That would be Ben Schade.  Good man!    He has done several jobs for me.  A real-deal metal cutting and wood checkering gunsmith (not just some parts remove & replace type).     He is also a well known trap shooter in the local area, so he knows shotguns.  Ben has the tooling and the knowledge/skill to do the chokes and just as important will tell you if it can't be done.   bennie@lebanongunshop.com
  11.   Which Section and Above or Below the Fold?
  12. My mistake. Figured we were trying to fix a problem, not just looking to print a news story. Never Mind.......
  13. Brain, Your focus on an object might make for some interesting photos. However, your focus should be on the problem - - - Mentally Deranged Evil People who use an object to kill. An Example...... MADD went after the problem (drunk driving), not the object (vehicles). They changed how we look at "having a few" and then getting behind the wheel. They are not called MAIV (Mother's Against Illegal Vehicles) for a reason - - - vehicles didn't cause the problem, it was the action of drunks that needed a solution. I would suggest that finding a solution to Mentally Deranged Evil People walking freely among us would be a better focus of your work.
  14. But is Nashville Armory an IDPA club?
  15. So...... Is this indoor match going to happen?
  16.   Its a nice, well done sporterized 1903A3.  Could be either a Remington or Smith Corona.   Clean It, Lube It, and Enjoy Shooting It!
  17. They are Good-To-Go.    From the Brownells' website;   ".....mil-spec stainless steel spring or our new, high lubricity, dry-lube-coated chrome silicon spring that’s corrosion-resistant certified to 500 hour salt spray standards, and less prone to spring set.......”   I have the mags with either the SS or CS springs and can't tell any difference in function.   Run them in all of my ARs to include the ones I use in 3Gun matches.  I do replace the follower (green or tan) with the MAGPUL follower.   In thousands upon thousands of rounds - - - Never, Ever a jam or misfeed.   I trust them enough to give them to my police officer son for his patrol rifle.
  18. Yup, its a 1903A3 that has been sporterized.  The firing pin rod, bolt sleeve, bolt (mod for scope) and extractor are all military.  I would have to see the barrel out of the stock to tell if its the military barrel that has been sporterized.   Appears that the scope would be an El Paso, TX made Weaver K2.5 or K3.0.  The mount and rings look to be Redfield.   If you can read Remington and the serial numbers with the scope base mounted - - - then you could, might have a 1903A4.  :stunned:   Mark CMP Master Instructor
  19.   Well Joe it does appear that we have "visited" some of the same Third World Sh*t Holes.  :dirty:   However, right now I'm rather take my chances will Miss Kim, or one of those Donkey Show gals than attend a gun show along with all of the great unwashed (and unprepared).   But..., if you happen to come across any old 1903 Springfield parts......., well......, ugh....., get the seller's cell number for me.  :x:      Later,   Mark
  20.   Some folks are taking these .308 Garands and making them into what is called "Unlimited M1 Garand Rifles" for CMP matches.    These .308 (I'd rather call them 7.62) Garands can be build up with National Match modifications that would otherwise make them illegal in a CMP Garand match.  Common NM accurizing mods include glass bedding, match sights, modified upper hand guards, etc., etc.  These M1s only shoot in their Unlimited category and not against the as-issued Garands.  Even without any NM mods these .308 Garands would still be an unlimited rifle when shooting in a CMP match since the as-issued Garand requires a 30.06 cartridge.   If you don't plan to shoot CMP matches, the advantage would be that it would share the same round as a FAL, M14, G3, M240, etc., etc.   Mark CMP Master Instructor
  21. My recommendation is Comp-Tac.   But...., if you like your Blackhawk Serpa their Sportster Standard CQC Concealment Holster might work for you.   http://www.blackhawk.com/product/Sportster-Standard-CQC-Concealment-Holster,1805,32.htm   AND - - - Don't forget a good belt!
  22. JMHO......,   You already have a Garand so getting either a FAL or M1A opens up new and different firearm experiences for your sons.  You may find in the future that one son takes to the Garand while the other does better with the FAL or M1A.   The M1A is easier to scope if that is what you wish to do.   The FAL is the better Battle Rifle (again JMHO).   Mark CMP Master Instructor
  23. I have attended several use of force and self defense law lectures and seminars over the years (OK - - - Decades) both in the profession of arms and as a private instructor.   This one was different.   This was real-deal, insider baseball sort of stuff.    Chip framed the issues and then painted the picture of what really happens in regard to how the legal process deals with a self defense shooting and the ramifications of that system (both good & bad).   Outstanding seminar.   I now carry Chip's card in my billfold.
  24. Dudes...., They have a Patch....., They Are REAL!!!!!! And that looks like a Scuba Ninja Tab on his left shoulder. :tough:
