In Tennessee? Should would like to know what city you are talking about with a 90% retirement so that I can tell my LEO son where to go. Also, many teachers in this state work second jobs in the summer because of their low pay.

Holder just doesn't understand the facts - - - hard thing for a Lib to do anyway. TM didn't employ Stand Your Ground since its sort of hard to retreat when you are on your back and the attacker is beating on you mixed martial arts style.

TDS has just run fiber into out area. I have Comcast High Speed & all of the HD upgrades...., the cost of which is now at the level of a nice used car payment. TDS is almost $100 less so I'm interested in switching. Anybody out there using the TDS fiber after having Comcast?

IDPA Classifier at Gallatin Gun Club
DMark replied to rstandley's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
I had to see it to believe it. A classifier at GGC with Robert Standley as the MD that didn't include....... Ice Snow High Winds Rain More Rain Thunder and Lightning Fog Temps in the teens Temps in the 100s Good Lord - - - Could today be proof of Climate Change! :panic: -
I pickup one of the Cold Steel Mini Recon 1 with the three inch tanto blade the other day..., mostly because I have never had any Cold Steel knifes. Seems to be a tough little knife - - - I have this almost overwhelming urge to low crawl into the woods looking for commo wire to cut!

Agree. However - - - I still enjoy Burning the Enemy's Crops! :dirty:

Hoyo De Monterrey, SULTAN in Maduro, 7.25X54 https://www.jrcigars.com/jr/index.cfm/hurl/evt=itemDetail/itemcode=HMSU3/HOYO-DE-MONTERREY-SULTAN.html I have had an account with JR since my first tour at Bragg over 30 years ago. Visiting one of their stores in NC was like walking into Cigar Valhalla.

Had a nice conversation with hickok45 of You Tube fame. He is a lot taller than I realized. Not a bad show. Some vendor's are staring to realize that the great panic is ebbing. Others - - - Well not so much. Did get to see some of the most recent production Colt 1911s with the new rollmark on the right side that replaces the "naked" slide. Once I find one in .38 Super, its going to become the base for a vintage custom build idea that I have.

Nice Friend, he was careful with your brass.

The face paint was from a week long training event against Soviet defensive positions. We had just finished a night live-fire (note the 0900 on the watch) trench clearing exercise. I still have that flashlight! The watch however disappeared off my wrist during a night jump at Bragg. It was a Swiss Elgin...., I trust a fellow paratrooper found it later and is still wearing it today. Wish the picture had shown my entire LBE setup. Three M16 mag pouches, 1911 mag pouch, M8A1 bayonet, two canteens, buttpack with dry socks, and a 1911 carried in a Model 1916 holster. My Dad was a Korean war vet and his comment "Have More Ammo than You Really Want to Carry" always seem to be good advice to me. Agree, I have no resemblance to Robert Duvall at all. However, there were comments over the years that I did act like Kilgore while assigned to CAV units. Maybe it was the Stetson. Picture taken at my Farewell party as the Operations Officer of D/4-7 CAV. There is a lot of Non-PC activities happening in that picture. I'm sure there were several violations of the UCMJ going on. Therefore I cropped to picture just enough to hide the faces of those taking part in the festivities. BTW - - - In that picture are a couple of folks who would later receive awards for valor at different places and during different times.

To celebrate my 1000th post I figured it was a good time to final show a picture of me. 2LT DMark, Ft. Benning, GA, Late 1970s. Yea…., I was a Happy Troop!

The Remington 03A3s had an olive-grey parkerized color to begin with. When Remington first made the M1903 rifles early in the war, the finish was the standard pre-war manganese parkerizing that had a black dye added to it. By 1942 Remington had introduced a number of changes resulting in the 1903 Modified which included an untinted grey zinc parkerizing which was used throughout the rest of production to include the 1903A3. Although the barrel and action were parked, Remington most frequently blued many of the other components, bolt, trigger guard, buttplate, and barrel bands and springs and the rear sight right up to the end of production in 1944. These parts are now often found parked as a result of later rebuilding at one of the arsenals post-war. The reason for the green hue is due to yellow chromate that Remington added to the curing oil. Parkerizing by its nature allows some light rust under the coating and this allows the yellow and grey to become the green that is seen in these rifles. Smith Corona 1903A3s tend to have a darker grey parkerizing as they continued to add some dark dye to the zinc phosphate coating. Even so, they also have a green hue, only darker than the Remington 03A3s.

You can join the Garand Collectors Association, its an affiliated organization to the CMP. http://www.thegca.org/ Your HCP covers the participation in a marksmanship related activity requirement.

Here they are....... http://www.odcmp.com/Sales/m1garand.htm The Service Grade criteria M1s are a great buy at $625. Don't let the "SOLD OUT NOT ACCEPTING ORDERS" discourage you. That only means that the CMP has a 60-90 day back-order on that category and grade of Garand and is not accepting new orders until they catch up.

OK...., just a couple of quick notes. The stock is a "scant" replacement. Those are the ones that have the semi-pistol grips that were made from left over Rock Island blanks. Stock hardware looks to be the correct mix of blue and park finishes. Bolt appears to be the correct blued part. I would have to see the stampings to tell if its of the correct time period for the SN. The sling is one of the Greek leather ones. Muzzle wear looks very good. Could be in the 1.0 range which should mean it will be a shooter. Solid rifle.

Dang, had to look that one up. Michael Faraday was an English scientist who contributed to the fields of electromagnetism and electrochemistry. His main discoveries include those of electromagnetic induction, diamagnetism and electrolysis. Faraday - 1861

Ramjo, Sounds like it could be one of those 03A3s that were never issued toward the end of the war. A lot of those late Remingtons went directly into storage. there should be some stock cartouches that would tell us that. Unless it was later sent to the Greeks or some other country, this could be a real prize of a 03A3. If you would like, post or PM the GB link and I'm sure we'll be able to provide even more information. Mark

70+ pounds of Bulldog coming down the stairs behind you is a force of nature that can't be stopped. Saturday morning my right ankle was black & blue and too swollen for any running and gunning. But Still - - - He is this Man's Best Friend. My son and cousin did make it to the match and had a great time!

Tim, My recommendation was to provide a little incentive to those folks who like to claim to be competitive shooters - - - but do nothing to support the governing body and the membership that has developed and maintained the sport. I'm in no way suggesting not allowing folks to show up and shoot matches for the fun of it and their own pleasure. Again Happy to Have them at the Match. Once More - - - Just My Two Cents Worth and to get back on topic, this "out-of-competition" suggestion didn't make it into the new Rule Book. But Dang! Now that I think about it..... None of my suggestions made it into the new Rule Book. :panic:

If you are shooting in an IDPA match and you are not an IDPA member, why should you be allowed the same recognition as dues paying IDPA members? If somebody just wants to shoot the matches for the pleasure of it, fine. But if that person wants to get all competitive about it and see where their scores rank them - - - Join Up and become a member of IDPA. Just My Two Cents & Your Mileage Will Vary........
-
One of the ideas that I submitted early on during this rewrite was to place anyone not a member of IDPA (even at local matches) into an "out-of-competition" category. When scores were then posted after a match, only members with an IDPA number would be listed. If an non-IDPA shooter wanted to see how they finished among those shooting the match...., they would need to join IDPA. Otherwise they could come and enjoy shooting the matches, we would be happy to see them at the range - - - but they would not be part of the competition.
