Michael, Handgun only for the Night match, or is it also open for rifles with a weapon light? Mark -
Now I understand why you are a Blacksmith! Lord knows you guys have to beat on some metal to keep those old Phrogs in the air.

Tncobra, I had some size issues with my patches so I just kept the VFW pin as my avatar.

My Combat Patches. Airborne! Air Assault! One of the things that I liked about the ACUs was the Velcro for the unit patches. I could change my combat patch out depending on the "audience." As a side note, I had a good friend who was a "Four-Patch All American" with combat tours with the 82ABN in Grenada, Panama, Desert Storm, and the GWOT.

The new Magical James Yeager round prototype!
DMark replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Allow me to apply some judgment because I am far more contemptuous of Yeager's immediate follow-on actions (or non-actions) right after the first contact. Please see my comments below. Dolomite_supafly's remarks astutely points out why Yeager's actions are so extraordinarily distasteful to many of us. Its not about running away and jumping into the culvert . Its about staying and hiding in the culvert and doing nothing for several minutes even while others in his team are trying to maneuver under fire to support those in the lead vehicle. And perhaps worst of all - - - his postings on a couple of online forums within hours of the engagement trying to spin a story in his favor by assessing blame on the overall team and dead team members themselves. But there was a problem with that, Yeager forgot that the trail vehicle had a dash-cam. -

Well at 0:48 they did one thing right about the round's namesake......., "For High Risk Civilian Contractors who like to Fold Under Pressure......" -
What make of 1911 were you running?

Well it was a Very Nice wedding. AND to keep this post firearms related in regard to future competitive shooting......, the groomsmen presented my cousin with a SIG 1911 TACOPS as a wedding gift! :woohoo: (BIG Thanks to 173rdABN for finding the SIG)

This is going to sound harsh.... This is because it needs to be harsh...... This was not an accident..... This was negligence on both of you. There is a reason that professionals and trained individuals will always Unload and Show Clear to demonstrate the safety of any firearm that they hand to someone else. The person accepting the firearm must also verify the unloaded and cleared state of the firearm. Rule # 1. All Guns Are Always Loaded - - - AND you must ALWAYS account that others WILL NOT understand that.

Looks like its going to be a Great Match. Hate that I will have to miss it this year. Cousin getting married this Saturday. If I was to go he'll be P**SED off that I got to shoot the match and he didn't. Besides, I also don't want to be "De-Invited" from the family Thanksgiving & Christmas......, for decades to come! :ugh: Be Safe, Good Shooting!

Where are the American made C&R eligible guns?
DMark replied to a topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
How about a $625 Garand from the CMP? RM1SAS M1 Garand, SA (Springfield) Service Grade $625 S&H $24.95 per rifle http://www.odcmp.com/Sales/m1garand.htm And they are in stock. -
Good Match! The stages would have been challenging even for a day match. I think several folks learned that the old cliché of "Use Enough Gun" also could be rephrased into "Have Enough Lumens." One thing that I found interesting was the high hit ratio for the long 25 yard shots. This was especially impressive for those shooters using handheld lights since they were in affect engaging strong hand only.

That is correct. From the CMP link I provided above...... Marksmanship or other Firearms Related Activity: You must provide proof of participation in a marksmanship related activity or otherwise show familiarity with the safe handling of firearms and range procedures. Your marksmanship related activity does not have to be with highpower rifles; it can be with smallbore rifles, pistols, air guns or shotguns. Proof of marksmanship participation can be provided by documenting any of the following: Current or past military service. Current or past law enforcement service Participation in a rifle, pistol, air gun or shotgun competition (provide copy of results bulletin). Completion of a marksmanship clinic that included live fire training (provide a copy of the certificate of completion or a statement from the instructor). Distinguished, Instructor, or Coach status. - Concealed Carry License. Firearms Owner Identification Cards that included live fire training. - FFL or C&R license. Completion of a Hunter Safety Course that included live fire training. Certification from range or club official or law enforcement officer witnessing shooting activity. A form for use in completing and certifying your range firing can be downloaded from the CMP web site at http://www.odcmp.com/competitions/forms/marksmanship.pdf If the first seven examples of activity doesn't apply to you, I can sign the certification form that affirms firearm activity. Any of you who have shot IDPA, 3Gun, Service Rifle, or F Class matches with me can print out the form for my signature. I also sign this same form for anybody who I have ever provided firearm instruction.

A club that has a CMP affiliation is often seen as a roadblock to many, but it can be as easy as joining the Garand Collectors Association which is a CMP club. http://www.thegca.org/ Here is the direct link that tells you what is needed to order from the CMP. http://www.odcmp.com...eligibility.htm It might seem like a complex way to get a rifle, but heck its a M1 Garand FEDEX direct to you. PM me if you need any help in getting your M1. Mark

Well...... :waiting: I reckon starting a thread on the Current and Factual status of Garands within the CMP from one of its Master Instructors who recently had a visit to its Anniston warehouse and talked directly with its officials is not good enough to dispel those who would rather offer their own self-predictions, false information, and develop rumors. I tried.
