  1. Moved to Saturday starting this April.....
  2. I have not seen or heard anything that states there Won't be an IDPA match this Saturday. Here is the message from MTSC that I got last week about the schedule...... 1st Sunday is 3 gun. 2nd Sunday is steel challenge. 3rd Sunday is fun match. 4th Saturday is IDPA. Saturday match starts at 10:30 Sunday matches start at 12:30
  3. And the big Numrich (Gun Parts Corporation) catalog for its firearm schematics.
  4. Is there anybody in Tennessee that does front strap machine checkering on 1911s? I use to send my work to either the Colt or Springfield Armory custom shops, but both are backlogged and/or no longer taking new work. I want to check in state before adding the cost of over night shipping to somewhere out of state. Thanks, Mark
  5. Well...., Reckon this coaster from a year ago (now on my work bench) is a collector's item since there will never be a Steam Plant Shootout III.
  6. This Sunday is the birthday of the Delightful and Wonderful Mrs. Kari (She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed), U.S. Army Wife (Retired). Its the only day of the year that I have something better to do than go shooting. Christmas, Thanksgiving, 4th July...., I'm happy to be out there somewhere busting caps. July 2nd - - - I'm staying with the one who has always been there for me. Have a great match, see ya'll in August.
  7. Korengal is now on Netflix. Watch Restrepo first, its the same platoon but more of a documentary of how the war was being fought. Korengal is very different, it has a focus on the personal experience of war. 173rdABN was a 19 year old Paratrooper humping a M249 up and down those mountains in the Korengal Valley. That might help you understand the name of his business..., DTV Tactical. DTV - - - DAMN THE VALLEY
  8. Well I manage to do something yesterday that I have never done before...... TWO malfunctions while shooting an AK! I've had ammo failures before "click-bad primer" run the bolt and go back to bang...., which was one of the failures I had during the match. However the failure to extract with a double feed on stage 5 was a new experience for me while running an Автомат Калашникова. I think some firearms know when there is a timer counting up the seconds on them!

I was sitting next to the incoming commander of the 75th Ranger Regiment who was next to the Deputy JSOC Commanding General. We where at a secure location to be inbriefed on current and future JSOC operations. The future part of the briefing was halted since it no longer related to anything.
  10. And to help save the wear and tear on GRGC's new AR500 steel plates please allow me to provide a color guide..... AP = Armor Piercing = BLACK Tip ammo. LAP = Light Armor Piercing (actually Steel Penetrator Tip) = GREEN Tip ammo.
  11. Dave is one of those rare instructors who can teach to the student on the level that they need. From beginner to combat veteran with real world gunfights, I have seen Dave explain a technique (using different words and actions) to either of these type of shooters and achieve the same teaching objective for both. As an example, Dave's efficient method of instruction for the draw is the definition of clear, simple and understandable. Its makes all other methods taught by different instructors seem convulsive and jerky.
  12. Its an older AR that I put together the morning after the Clinton AWB sunset in 2004. Its been a test bed of sorts ever since, can't begin to list all of the changes and re-mods it has had over the years. Does need a new trigger....., 13 years ago we hadn't begun to struggle with how to pronounce Bill Geissele's last name!
  13. Do ya'll think that Matt will notice that I'm not shooting Heavy Metal this Sunday?
  14. That was a fun match! It might not had been intended, but the "dancing steel" plates in the wood line of bay 5 while looking into the sun was AWESOME! One of the hardest things to do in a fight is to acquire your target. People can be getting shot at from a general direction and won't return fire because they can't see a clear target. We become conditioned to look for that bullseye or cardboard cut out and our brain under stress just won't allow us to focus on something that is different from what we wish to see. We all wanted to see nice round white painted steel plates with a dark green background. Its not what we all got..., we got that "different" that under stress (a timer in this case) caused all of us to work harder than we wanted. Outstanding!
  15. Dan, I'll bring some extra flags. Here is a link where you can order them direct from the CMP. https://estore.thecmp.org/Catalog/Item/244 Of course the shipping will cost more than the cost of the flags!
  16. Not a problem. I get bags of Open Bolt Indicators from the CMP.
  17. I'm going to shoot something that is very short and very retro-black-rifle this Saturday!
  18. Which was perfect for me since I'm sort of halfway between both. Saturday I could shoot bad at GRGC...., then travel to Manchester on Sunday and do even worst shooting with the MTSC folks!
  19. Yea, when the new 2017 rulebook came out even the S&W Shield didn't fit the BUG box. Then....... Version 2.0 was quickly released and the BUG box height grew 1/8 inch...., and just like that the Shield would slip right in. Hmmmm, follow the money maybe? Heck, I'm still pissed that the 1911 Commander won't fit the CCP box. First the barrel was too long at 4.25. Then the new rule box stated that 4.25 was OK, but the height shrunk to an 1911 officer frame size. What is Joyce Wilson thinking, that a bankrupted Colt is going to buy more advertising from IDPA? Stuff like this has me thinking about going back to shooting USPSA after a 20 year hiatus from that sport!
  20. Set up for Bay 3 would have been a real challenge..., I mean no painting fault lines this time. Also having to wear fishing waders would have slowed down the fast guys! I was about to depart when Jcoop posted that the match was canceled. I figured that since I was already loaded up I might as well head to the range anyway. Wouldn't you know it..., the rain stopped and the sun popped out.
  21. Thanks JCoop! I was 10 minutes from going wheels-up and enroute.
  22. Well..., I do carry all of this wet-weather gear in my Jeep for a reason. If the Stones River stays in its banks, I'll try to make it.
  23. Hey JCoop. Is MTSC shooting IDPA tomorrow (22 April)?
  24. Rachael Price of Lake Street Dive.
