We also moved the walls around in the Shoot House (Stage 4) so there should be a reduced possibility of a 180 rule infraction.

Interesting that the OOKLA Speedtest used a NC server for my Middle Tennessee location.

Actually thinking...., can a man have TOO many 1903s? :-\ The real problem was the seller's asking price was for a correct rifle. It had the wrong stock, base & rings and some gosh-awful big-ass scope. I was only interested in the receiver, barrel, and bolt. The bolt had also been given a shiny blue job. My guess is that it had been a hunting rifle at one time and somebody threw it into an old USGI replacement stock to sell. So my offer was figuring in the cost of the correct parts and re-finishing in order to make the rifle right.

At one of the tables there was a real 1903A4 Sniper for sale. Did my best to buy it. The seller and I started at over a thousand + dollars apart from each other, but worked it down to a few hundred dollars difference between us. We just couldn't close the deal. It was still there when I left this afternoon. He has my card...... :x:

Yup. My order was Delivered today. No idea if I made the cut for this first release of if I will be placed on the backorder list. In the meantime, a lot of folks over on the CMP forum who waited until today to send in their paperwork are already filling this out.

RICKEYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!! :panic: DA*N You!!!!!!!!!!! Another shooting sport that I am now going to have to get into. :woohoo: Will the match info be up on the MTSC website?

I was also a bit surprised at the $1k. They are about $100+ more than what many of us had speculated. I figured they would be more in inline with what the Winchesters last sold for. I sent my order in for one with the original LMR barrels (LMR=Line Material, Rifle). IHC did not make the barrels for their M1s, Line Material Corporation in the Birmingham, AL produced them for IHC. Trusting I'll be lucky and get one of the 383 being released for mail order on Monday. :x: I WOULD NOT want to be anywhere near the North and South CMP Stores on 5 June when they place those 64 IHCs in the racks for sale. :slapfight:

Follow the link I provided in the first post. It should tell you everything you need to know to order a rifle from the CMP. And Ditto on Hershmeister's provided link.

FINALLY - - - I've been waiting almost two years for these to be released. :hyper: From the CMP email...... INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CORPORATION M1 GARANDS. CMP currently has 511 Service Grade IHC M1 Garand rifles (with LMR barrels) available for purchase. The CMP North and CMP South stores will be allocated 64 of these rifles each. The balance of 383 rifles will be reserved for mail order purchase. Price of these rifles, CMP item number RM1IHCSLMR, is $975 plus $29.95 S&H. CMP also has 384 Service grade IHC M1 Garand rifles that do not have LMR barrels. Price of these rifles, CMP item number RM1IHCS, is $925 plus $29.95 S&H. Please note that the only part on either of these two item numbers guaranteed to be the IHC is the receiver. Purchasers are limited to only one IHC M1 Garand per customer. Mail orders will be accepted immediately until enough orders are received to allocate the current inventory. Rifles will be available at the stores on 5 June, 2014. We do still have approximately 2,000 IHC rifles to inspect and repair and make ready for sale. We expect the next partial IHC release to be in November, 2014, but it may be sooner. Sent my order in by Priority Mail today! :x: Here is a link to the CMP ordering information. http://www.odcmp.com/Sales/orderinginfo.htm

My GAU-5 "Son Tay Raider" Clone. 6lbs, 2oz. This was a custom build that used all Colt parts back when you could get M16A1 part kits. The custom made XM177 moderator is welded and pinned to the cut down USGI rifle barrel making it 16.1 inch. The carbine stock is one of the early aluminium ones. With the Normark Single Point Reflex Sight removed this AR is under 6 pounds. My "Light" 3Gun. 6lbs, 13oz. The 3Gun has a 16 inch lightweight, mid-length gas barrel. Magpul fixed carbine stock. No BUIS. No Sling points. No forward grip. I might have gotten it under the 6 pounds mark had I not used the 15 inch VTAC Alpha Rail, but I wanted that length for hand placement.

wileecoyote, Agree with all your points. I'm just thankful that a grateful nation spent the time and money to provide me such a weapon and most of all...., the training to use it.

nsz85 puts out some of the better YouTube videos. Very clear and easy to understand, his lower build video is one of the best. On the subject of Over or Under gassed, you can also check the ejection pattern. I have used a version of this chart for several years.
