  1. Well so much for me shooting my everyday carry in CCP.....    - Colt 1911 LT WT Commander with 4.25 barrel.   - S&W Model 37 Airweight with 5 rounds.   Reckon I could go Rule 8.2.7. Not For Competition - - - That is if the MD allows such.
  2.   My post was sarcasm...........     Its been known for some time that he was a lying SOB about the CH-47 story.  The BDE CDR of the 159th AVN BDE at the time was a friend of mine and he has confirmed that no Chinooks from the 101st took any RPG hits during the push North.    With that said, while I won't be able to attend the match on the 28th, Kudos to MCTS for their support of Veterans!  :usa:
  3. Here is our Tab Wearing, Multi Combat tour Veteran of the 75th Ranger Regiment.  :tough:   http://youtu.be/FLP8lLxEu8Y   The SO kept yelling "Cover" and can only reckon that Blaise figured that just meant that the SAW gunner was about to open up!
  4.   If our retired ID won't do, maybe that picture of us with Brian Williams standing next to the CH-47 that we were shot down in will work.      Speaking of that, I wonder if Brian Williams gets a military discount at Lowe's.   AND Getting Back On Topic - - - -   The Polish Plate should be unpinned for anybody shooting a HK product!   :stir:
  5.   Not Good.   Somebody is training them up.
  6.   Keep an eye out for this PSA Dissy upper.  Out of stock right now, but with PSA you never know when they will pop up AND on sale!   http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/barreled-upper-assemblies/psa-16-mid-length-dissipator-without-bcg-or-charging-handle.html   1-7 twist with mid-gas and its around $299.  I've been running one for about a year and its one of my favorites.
  7.   Is the front sight staked in (GI) or dovetailed?   If its dovetailed the options for different front sights are just about endless.  If its GI you'll need a staking tool to change it out (or a good gunsmith).   Also, a wider notch in the rear sight will help you pickup the front sight faster.
  8. Hard beat this weekend's PSA deal.   Complete stainless 1-7 barrel, mid-length gas, carbine.  $549.99   http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/psa-16-stainless-mid-length-1-7-freedom-carbine.html?utm_source=Don%27t+Miss+Out+on+this+Weekend%27s+DEALs%21&utm_campaign=Constant+Contact&utm_medium=email
  9. Trust me...., those Marksmen (and women) are out there. During mid-range 600 yard matches, I've seen a lot for Master and High Master level High Power shooters who will have tighter groups while shooting alongside FClass scoped and bipod shooters. It will humble you.
  10. Agree with Garufa, its a real treasure.   Easy to see by the SN that this is a 1898 Carbine that went through some updates with the 1899 stock and the later 1901 rear sight.  Whether this was done at the unit level or back at one of the arsenals would take a real expert's hands on examination...., and even then another expert would argue about the first expert's conclusions.  However, if the stock has a cartouche on the left side with a date that would point it being a refurbishment and not a field replacement.   What is important is this....   You have a Real Deal U.S. Krag Carbine.    Its one of the Holy Grails of U.S. Martial Arms collecting!   Please Do Not over clean it.  Light oil on the metal and maybe a slight wipe of mineral oil on the stock   Congratulations!  :woohoo:
  11. HOLY SH*T!!!!!!!!  :stunned:   That looks like a Krag Carbine Model of 1899.  It appears to have all of the correct Carbine features - - - no swivels, retro-fitted with M1901C sights (common), carbine handguard, etc., etc.......   There were 36,051 model 1899 carbines manufactured from 1898 to 1902.  Odd, but no Model 1899 carbines were made in 1899.   Model 1899 Carbines serial number range: 226,127-228055 250,450-252,965 268,055 279,888-287,650 308,901-309,075 344,014-357,494 420,710-420,810   Keep in mind large numbers of the 1896 and 1898 carbines were updated to 99 specifications, so it could be a model 1899 with an earlier SN.   1896 Carbines-Very early ones marked 1895 on receiver: 25,135-37,582 67,010-79,499 1898 Carbines: 123,161-130,965   Something to check.  Barrel muzzle diameters are different on rifles and carbines.  A cut rifle barrel with the original sight reinstalled will generally be of the wrong dimensions.  Rifle barrels at the muzzle will measure very close to .62, a Carbine will be .65.   Regardless of how all of the numbers work out, its a sweet looking Krag!
  12. Yes, some of us use Iron sights in service rifle to 600 yards. The Palma Rifle shooters take it all the way out to 1000 yards. Every now and then I'll get a wild hair and shoot a TAC Rifle/Carbine/3Gun match with Irons. This Dissipator with a LMT rear sight is my current favorite for doing that. Its NOT as fast as running with a Red-Dot. You can look at the results of just about any match and the TAC/TAC Optics folks will have much faster times than the Iron Sight shooters. Where Irons can sometimes be better - - - IMHO - - - are with longer shots were a Red Dot MOA size might not be the best for accurate shooting. However, the folks running 1x4 or 1x6 optics will still be beating the Iron Sights for the most part. That all being said, my "Social ARs" all run Aimpoints with lower 1/3 cowitness BUISs.
  13.   Thank you.  I would like to claim full credit, but the SIG had a very large part to play in that target.  The best part is that somebody was a witness.      AND that somebody was so impressed (with the SIG - - - Not Me) that he went out and got a SIG 1911.   Again.........., $789.99!!!!!!!!!   At that price I'm temped to go back and buy the Extreme myself just to claim I need a spare for my TACOPS.
  14. Let me give you a little motivation. This is from the first time at the range with my SIG 1911 TACOPS. Ammo used was Walmart Federal 230 ball. The accuracy of these SIGs will rival most anything in the 1911 world.
  15. David,   John let me handle this SIG.  The slide to frame fit is outstanding and the trigger breaks clean after a little take-up which can be adjusted out.   I'm amazed that this 1911 was still in the case at the price that John is letting it go to TGO members.
  16. Folks, Heads Up! I was at Guns N More in Smyrna today doing a transfer of some AR lowers. Some of you may recall how big a fan-boy I have become of SIG 1911s. IMHO they are the best production 1911s being made today. In the case at Guns N More is a SIG 1911 Extreme that John will sell to TGO members for...... $789.99. It has night sights and G10 panels! Somebody from this forum is going to get one Heck of a Great Deal on one Heck of a Great 1911.
  17.   Heck for that kind of money...., BHO had better be the golf caddy for Google!
  18.   That is the Google total bundle together as an entire organization.    It takes CEO personal "gift" money in the $500k range to get a golf date with Barry Hussein.  :puke:
  19. The Comcast CEO is already working on that..... Comcast CEO Brian Roberts is an Obama golfing buddy whose political giving is 90+% Democratic. Comcast Executive Vice President David Cohen has given upwards of $500K to Obama while raising another $2.2 million. Comcast CEO Brian Roberts, left, and World Bank President Jim Kim, right. August 2014
  20. 8mm Kurz is loaded by Prvi.   http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=AP8KFMJ&name=Prvi+8mm+Kurz+124grn+20rd+Box&groupid=44   But I agree with you and Dolomite - - - 7.62x39mm would be a lot more useful.

    Good Ol Jane!

For the younger members of TGO, here is why we will never forgive the traitor. 1972 - Giving Aid & Comfort to the Enemy during a tour of North Vietnam where she denounced America as she posed for pictures sitting on a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun.
  22. SGAmmo.com out of Stillwater, OK.   http://www.sgammo.com/catalog/pistol-ammunition/357-magnum   Great Prices, Super Fast ship times and they always show real time inventory.
