Seersucker for summer weight match wear only. Rattlesnake belts always count for cool points!
-
I think that anybody who plans on playing around with ARs should just go ahead and buy a couple of these "OH-SH*T" spare part packets. I keep one in my vehicle and another one feeds into my bench stock. I guarantee that if you don't have these spares, you'll be posting on this forum late at night asking if anybody has extras! :ugh:

I would have gotten at least two re-shoots at Manchester this past Sunday if mental mistakes allowable!

Agree! In the beginning of IDPA the focus was strong local clubs and their matches. It was an environment to practice your conceal carry skills. Today I feel its now driven by outside money looking to sponsor larger events in order to have an advertisement venue for their products. This is the reason I no longer will SO a sanctioned match. Somebody trying to get a match-bump to Sharpshooter, bitching you out over a cover call that you made (which the 75 - 100+ other shooters didn't have a problem with) is not my idea of good sportsmanship. Yes. For the Pro Shooters. Once IDPA allowed sponsored shooters in its matches with their colorful NASCAR Shirts (It was once forbidden in IDPA to even wear a T-Shirt with a firearm industry logo) the focus shifted to these folks - - - just look at the IDPA website. These Pros make money (cash bonus) from their sponsorships when they win or place in a sanctioned match. The higher Tier the match is, the bigger the payout.

Use a 1/4" clevis pin for the pivot. Here is good DIY on how to use it. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_4/362116_How_to_install_the_front_Pivot_Pin_using_a__1_clevis_pin___56K_death.html

Wonder why IDPA sent out the email with so little detail. I for one would like to know the background on the re-shoot problem. So what happened?

NSZ85 on ARFCOM & YouTube https://youtu.be/e1omm6jY7Gg Good lighting and camera work. He also does an excellent job explaining what he is about to do and how he is going to do it.

The SL is always tight. Its almost like trying to push a MIL-SPEC stock onto a commercial tube. With the SL there is no additional "thing" to work to make it tighten up. The CTR requires that you lock the stock in tight once you have selected the position. I will admit that the release levers on the side are taking some time for me to get use to. I think its the result of many decades of muscle memory pulling up on the single lever found on CAR/M4/everybody else's collapsible stock.

Article: "Evaluating the Left's Madness on Gun Control"
DMark replied to Randall53's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Liberals Today Are not real Liberals. The Classical Liberalism view is a political idea of liberty and equality that supports the unalienable rights of the Individual to chose. Today's Liberals are really Progressives, advocating their view as Social Justice. In many ways these Progressives are really followers of Statism - the belief that the state should control economic and/or social policy to some degree. To what degree is based on what they agree with and not what you might agree with. They demand that the state will select the choice for you...., by force if need be. They are hypocrites to call themselves Liberals. -
I just mounted one. ITS TIGHT! ZERO WOBBLE! :woohoo: In fact almost too tight if you are one of those types who is always making adjustments. There are two flat springs on the inside of the stock that presses against both sides of the receiver extension. Therefore the pressure is constant and does not depend on the lockup of the latch to tighten up the stock. I like it.

Rise in guns turning fights deadly in Clarksville
DMark replied to FortKnox's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The problem in Clarksville is the Gangsters Disciples. The next problem is the Democrat Mayor who won't allow the CPD to discuss that there are Gangster Disciples in Clarksville. There is an internal war going on among the Clarksville membership. Some of the old-school OGs (Original Gangster) have returned from their time in prison from back in the 90s. These hardcores are "reestablishing" their status as the leaders within GD. Needless to say some of the younger gangsters initially objected to letting go of their control to these older guys. The OGs didn't allow this "dis-respect" and the first example of their displeasure with the youth was found dead behind the Waffle House off exit 11 about a year and a half ago. There have been several other shooting since then - - - long before lawful carry of a firearm in your vehicle law went into affect - - - Shocking isn't it! The Chicago GD leadership has sent emissaries to Clarksville in an attempt for a diplomatic solution, but that seems to have worked as well as Hillary's time as SecState. Meanwhile...., the Outlaw MC continues to draw in members from the soldiers being "downsized" out of Campbell. Across the state line in KY, the Hells Angels have purchased a farm, surely to cultivate corn and fresh flowers for the "local grown only" farmer's market in Nashville. AND, the Democrat Mayor has ordered that all of the evil riot equipment that CPD had be returned to the Feds. Its looking to be a Hot & Wild summer for the Queen City of the Cumberland River. -

And of course my two favorite Cult Cartridges - - - .38 Super & 10mm! :tough: Robert, What time Friday are you going to be at GGC to start the set up? -
It matters. The F marked FSB is for carbine length sight radius. Both the M16A2 (fixed) and M16A4 (detachable carry handle) have the same rear sight height. The only difference is the Army decided to go with the average sight plane distance for both the 20" barrel (A2 & A4) and the 14.5" barrel (M4) so they could use the same detachable handle on both the rifle and the carbine, so that rear sight is really not calibrated for either. Thus you still need the F marked FSB for a carbine in order to get the correct height of the shelf for the front sight post even with an A2 receiver. It gives you about 20 more clicks up (POI down) before the FSP base is exposed.

luke9511, That upper has a carbine length gas system. Make sure that the FSB is "F" marked or you might have some issues with elevation adjustments. If it isn't F marked, you can install an .040" taller front sight post and that will allow complete elevation sight in adjustments for the A2 rear sight. Also, that is an A2 rear stock which will be 5/8" longer than the A1 stock. Some folks like the addition LOP...., others don't. Question - - - I see a charging handle. Does that upper also have a Bolt Carrier Group coming with it? Mark

If you are wanting a real M16A1 receiver, here is one on ARFCOM. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_7_159/1442133_RETRO_M16A1_COLT_Upper_Receiver____FOR_SALE__.html

If you are going full-on Retro, best to search the ARFCOM Equipment Exchange "AR15 Parts - Used - Upper Receiver." http://www.ar15.com/forums/f_7/159_AR15_Parts___Used___Upper_Receiver.html A few years back real M16A1 uppers where easy to find - - - now much harder to locate and a lot more $$$$$$. But I have to ask..... When you say, ".... have the carry handle that looks close to the A1..." Are you looking for a upper receiver only with A1 sights or will an A2 receiver be OK. Or, are you looking for a complete upper with barrel installed? Also, must the upper be a fixed carry handle or can it be a flat-top with a detachable carry handle (M16A4)? Here are a couple of examples. A2 upper complete. http://www.del-ton.com/AR_15_Barrel_Assembly_p/dt1012.htm Flat-top upper complete. http://www.jsesurplus.com/JSE20LW1x9Molywithsighttowercomplete.aspx A lot variables out there that could be the answer to your build. Finding what fills your needs (desire) is part of the fun! Good Luck!
