  1. Congrats!   But you know what......   ...... that video is Sort-Of, Kind-Of Creepy.  :stunned:   Like there is a "Ghost In The Machine!"
  2.   Agree, well designed stages.   And...., Nothing at all wrong with goofy props.    However, when three out of five stages have them, its a formula for an ineffective match.  Throw in the fact that it was a night match and everything slows down.    This match took over four + hours for five stages.   A good rule of thumb with match design is that when the shooter must "stage" themselves in a prop at the start position (bed, boat, car, etc., etc.), 2-3 added minutes per shooter will be the affect on the time required to run that stage.  So, if you have 10 shooters in the squad 20-30 minutes over and above the actual conduct of firing the stage with be the result.  Now do that for three out of five stages and the match will run longer than it needs to and squads will be stacking up on top of each other.   And to be honest..., I would have much rather shot each stage with my carry and HD gear over the goofy flood light and lantern props provided for a couple of the stages.  For many folks, this match is the only time they get to shoot in darkness.  We missed an opportunity for them to run their equipment.
  3. I actually got to hold 173rdABN's M249 today!
  4. John, I think that would be a good idea....., especially for stage 4. But you should give 173rdABN bonus points if he does "SAW" off any of the Zombie heads!
  5. Kris, that thing is Sweet!    We need to find some old junkyard cars to light-up!
  6. My Dear Coop,   Get a couple of shots of whiskey in me and the stories will really get to flowing!  :blah:   Getting Back on Topic - - - -   I think this rule just might level the playing field between the Young & Fast vs the Senior & Experienced shooters.   Then again....., I fear slowing you down a little will only make you more accurate!
  7.   Agree.   On both of those long throw Browns' TDs, the strong safety bit on Johnny Football running around and left the CB alone with a WR and no top cover.
  8.   Good!     That was the original intent of the majority of the IDPA founders.  Its why the targets have a 1996 copyright on them with -1, -3, .   OK - - - I now get to tell my one and only No SH*T There I Was with Larry Vickers story.   LAV had retired and was working for H&K.  I was at a range event where H&K was trying to sell the Army on one of its new weapons.  I ran a stage with the weapon and remarked that I was happy being only 1 down for a .5 second added if we where shooting it like an IDPA match.  I made the off-handed comment, "I always wondered why the targets have -1 and -3, yet its half-second added for each point down?"     The H&K guy (with Larry on his nametag) who had demo the weapon and was running us said, "Well we wanted a full second, in fact the targets had already been copyrighted, and then Bill changed his mind and since he was the one writing the checks it became a half second in the rulebook...."   And I replied, "Then you must be talking about Bill Wilson and you must be the Larry that has his last name on these targets aren't you?"    And he said, "Yep."   And that is my No SH*T There I Was with Larry Vickers story.
  9. OK ABN...., I'll send payment using Friends & Family. Let me know when you are finish with the coating. I can pick it up when I come over for the lowers we talked about. Thanks, D. Mark
  10. Not only do they hate firearms...... ....., they also must hate football (NFL starts this Sunday)!
  11. Monkeybat,   Agree with Joe.  The TAP folks run a great indoor match that is very new shooter friendly   But if you just can't wait, here is another good place to start at the Gallatin Gun Club.   http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/89655-intro-to-idpa-shooting-class/   Contact Robert Standley if you are interested.   Your XD is already perfect for the Concealed Carry Pistol division in IDPA.  All you really need is a Good Holster, Good Belt, and at least 3 mags.   Oh Yea - - - And Ammo!
  12. Knew that the 3Gun had been cancelled.    I'm referring to the email that Bill D. sent to all of us yesterday afternoon that the 6 Sep Fun Match had also been canned.    Thus my baffled, confused and mystified state of mind.......
  13. OK..., So is the match back on?   Last night many of us who shoot at Manchester got an email that stated "Match has been canceled."    I'm baffled, confused and mystified.  :panic:
  14. I really like the way you can see what goes on during a function check.    Its something that you try to explain to folks...., but your video shows what the check is doing.   Well Done!
  15. Looks like it took place at Nightmare Range - - - I know it well.
  16.   A very, very rare bloodline.  I have heard about the Alapaha Blues, but never knew of anybody who had one.   I'm told that they are closer to what the original Bulldogs used by the English for bull-baiting were before they started breeding out the aggressive characteristics needed to engage bulls.
  17.   Is Sam going to be there?   I want to talk to him about doing an old-school, retro custom on one of my Colt's in .38 Super.
  18.   So getting a PE on this stage will really show who sucks!  :ugh:
  19.   That is the plan.   Still wanting to know the round count for Stage #3.
  20.   So does that mean that Stage #3 requires 3 Mags for a total of 27 rounds for the stage?   - One 9 rounder to start + two mags loaded to 9 rounds each for the two reloads?   - Or is it 9 total rounds for the stage with three mags with 3 rounds each?   Man this math stuff hurts my Liberal Arts Degree head!
  21. So Joe.........,   Just how many of my pistol caliber carbine 32 round Colt mags should I load up?   Dang things are a thumb killer to load!
  22. John,   Are ya'll still planning on the Carbine 2Gun this Saturday (29 August)?   Mark
  23.   Over a Year later and I am now convinced more than ever that this zombie thread is the Revenge of TankerHC!   And for those newer members to TGO..., TankerHC was a flaming A-Hole who just didn't know when to back away from the keyboard.  The SOB would private message you and attack your thread comments.   Then came "The Rapture" where TGO David banished TankerHC to pre-tribulation where he now experiences hardships, disasters, famine, war, pain, and suffering.   And forthwith Peace came upon TGO.    And civil discussions on firearms and the topics of the day resumed......    ...... which gets me back on topic.   I'm not a big fan of cheap 1911s.
  24.   WooHoo!  I was the High BUG Revolver shooter!  :woohoo:   Ughhhhhhh....., hold on there - - - I was the only BUG Revolver shooter.  :ugh:
