  1. Making a suppressor would be illegal under the act. Therefore, there would be no court case because the maker would be guilty under Tennessee law because they didn't follow NFA rules. TFFA does not remove the federal requirements of NFA weapons because it does not legalize them. No, to challenge the law, you would have to make something in the neighborhood of a single-shot break-action 22 rifle.
  2. Until there is a gun maker who actually makes and sells a firearm under the act, the courts will not hear it because there is no injured party and the federal courts are reluctant to hear hypotheticals. Therefore, until someone has the cajones to test the law, everyone will sit and wonder if the act is valid or not. My question to any of you wouldbe firearm manufacturers is: What would Randolf Scott do?
  3. It took me a while to do some research, but here it is. There is no law against visiting the projects per se. However, Metro's finest are loosely interpreting the laws in order to arrest people for criminal trespass in the projects as a matter of policy. Secondly, I can't find the law but the US Supreme court recently upheld a law that banned guns in public housing in Richmond, VA. Also, the is a new US Senate measure to remove the gun ban from public housing. That makes me assume that one exists. I'm not super computer literate so I'm not sure how to post links. But, If you google "gun ban "public housing"" and "nashville "public housing" trespass" you'll find many articles dealing with the two issues.
  4. I can't find the lease form on that site for the projects, only for subsidized section 8 housing. I'm just going by what the news reports have said over the last few years here in Nashville. True? I don't know. Constitutional? My reading of the Constitution gets destroyed by the courts on a daily basis.
  5. I don't believe it would be a 10A issue since the 10th amendment gives the states regulatory authority only on those things that are not explicit in the constitution. The 2nd Amendment is explicit.
  6. In Nashville, you are not even allowed to enter the projects if you are a non-resident. An no, I don't have any documentation other than what I have seen in the news. However, I'm willing to accept that the news I have seen could be wrong. They've been wrong on so many other issues.
  7. I wouldn't go at all. But my money keeps going, anyway.
  8. That is exactly what I am talking about. The leases state that they may not have a gun. Also, it's illegal to be on the streets of the projects with a gun. Would you go without one, though?
  9. Banned? What "projects"? What is banned? Who banned whatever is banned? I don't think I understand your post
  10. The truth is that our nations parks are probably the second most dangerous places in America. Second only to the projects (another place where guns are banned). The problem is that the "local" media has been engaged in a propaganda war during this legislative session. I use the word "local" in quotations because most of our media is owned by out-of-state entities with a firm desire to change our way of life. These carpetbaggers, as my grandparents would have called them, are firm 2nd Amendment haters but they're smart about it. They, like most liberals, gradually peck away at our freedoms. They don't try to take it all at once. They use phrases like "I'm a firm believer in the 2nd Amendment but..." or "We can all agree that..." Unfortunately, many of our citzens are so uninformed that they buy these statements hook, line and sinker. Here's where we come in. We have to be just as smart as the liberals. We have to be articulate and not come off as angry even if we feel that way. We have to understand that our coutry has gradually drifted to left over the course of decades and need to be just as patient as the liberals by bringing it back around gradually in baby steps. If we ask for too much, too quickly, we will be rejected and none of our hopes and dreams will be realized. I agree with all the pro-gun laws that were passed this legislative session, but I'm concerned that maybe it was a little too fast and will ultimately cost me my freedoms. We are dealing with a citizenry that has become so used to being told that firearms are bad, that it sounds absurd to them that we are merely getting back the rights that were taken away by the NFA. Most of our people weren't alive when the NFA was originally passed and know no other way. I'm rambling now but my point is that we, as firearm owners and conservatives, need to beat back the liberals at there own game. You catch more flies with honey...
  11. I've never been to an IDPA match but a friend asked me about trying it. So do you just show up and see how bad you suck? Or should you get some type of training before your first match? How many rounds should you throw through a weapon before you should trust it to go to a match? It sounds like something I would enjoy.
  12. Here's the deal, Ralph, for whatever reason, has chosen to opine his liberal bent on one of the most conservative websites available. He probably goes on the NAACP website and spews racist epithets. There is a ceratin percentage of our polpulation that enjoy angering the rest of the population. That's how they gain personal fulfillment. Ralph appears to be one of them. So rather than getting on "The Daily Kos", he came here. And the membership has given him plenty of enjoyment similar to the way serial killers get enjoyment from hearing the cries of little girls. That being said, the best way to shut this crap up is to ignore it. A lot of smart and presumably busy people have wasted an inordinate amount of time on him. Furthermore I would suggest to the moderator to remove him from our roles.
  13. Each and every day, as read "the news", I notice that we are becoming a more and more repressed society. Our representatives are moving farther and farther to a government that is more like a dictatorship than a republic. It maybe that I'm a bit paranoid( I'm willing to accept that). However, being a student of history, I wonder at what point our military and or LEO's quit accepting blind obedience to there appointing authorities and side with the people they serve. We, as a society, have decided ,over time, that our police and military should have a decided advantage over the populace in the forms of power and weaponry "for the public good". However, having seen Germany under nazi control and the Soviet Union under Stalinism, I'm not so sure those were wise decisions. My gut feeling is that the "public servants" under those regimes didn't agree with their government but followed orders. Will our public servants do the same? My instinct say yes. I have never had fear of the goverment until recently. The fact is, I thought that owners of high capacity semi-autos were a bunch of over-zealous conspiracy theorists. My opinions are rapidly changing. I guess I've become and over-zealous conspiracy theorist myself.
  14. As a child, I used to go hunting with my grandfather.. However, as an adult, getting back into it has proven to be rather difficult. First of all, I can't remember how to field dress game of any type. Secondly, none of my immediate friends are currently hunters. And lastly, since my grandfathers death, I have lost the ability to go hunt a couple hundred acres on a whim. Hunting is a sport, unlike softball, you just can never restart, it seems. The worst part is I have many nice shotguns and rifles and nothing to do with them.
  15. M&P 40. I have small hands, so the small backstrap is a brilliant idea. A close second place is a 1911 of any manufacture.
  16. I like my M&P better primarily because the interchangeable backstrap and the trigger pull. Not a nickle's worth of difference in reliabilty or accuracy. It's just which one feels the best to me? One other caveate, XD's do have many more accessory choices than the M&P's right now.
  17. I'm Trever from Goodlettsville. I'm an RN. Married and believe in my right to protect myself and most importantly, my wife. I'm a casual pistol shooter and former hunter who would like to re-learn the skills (I haven't field dressed game since I was a child) I would like to thank the folks who have been posting on here. There is a lot of great info.
  18. The Tennessean is responsible for all this. They went to these restaurants and made them affraid. Hooters, for instance, doesn't post in any other states that have handgun carry allowed. Why is Tennessee different? The answer: The Tennessean.
