Let me make this simple for you: Hellth Kare Beal is badd foor Kuntrie!!!! Yoo kant chainj owr laws to maik uss moor lyk Yoorope.

OK, Borat, I see your numbers. What I don't see is your reasoning that if one group of people has something that another group does not, then that group should use the power of the government to take away from the one and give to the other. I see people like you as no better than looters after the hurricane. You try to take that which you did not earn. Merely using the government to do it does not justify the actions. Our Constitution was enacted by a group of men who absolutely despised government. They believed in individual rights and responsibilties, not government sposored tyranny. They actually forbade this type of action, in thr future, by enacting the 10th Amendment. Unfortunately, many people, like youself, have decided what they want the Constution to say rather than follow the original meaning. They have chosen to petition the courts for rulings that ignore the words' meanings rather than to attempt to go through the arduous task of amending the document.

If you are willing to give up the rest of the Constitution, just to save one amendment, then God bless you. I, however, am not. I guess I'm greedy enough to want the whole enchilada not to merely have crumbs thrown at me in order to gain my support. Compromise has gotten us nothing. It has shown weakness and has invited the liberals back to the table over and over to eat away at more of our freedoms. I'll invite you to read Saul Alinski's book, Rules for Radicals (I hated buying it because it gives money to the family of a noted communist organizer). It is a key step in understanding the enemy. That is the book that each and every one of these bastards uses to grab at our freedoms piece by piece. I hate to say it, but the guy was a genius. I wish he had been working for us!!

Military Husband Probed for Allegedly Posting Threats on Radical Web Site

So will the phrase "Molon Labe" be banned forever? I really don't see the difference between what was posted and Chuck Heston's "from my cold dead fingers". -
Reminds me of Richard Belzer in The Groove Tube "I'm in the driver's seat because I'm the f***ing president". How life immitates art.

Since armed revolt seems to be off the table for now, one of the most effective to fight a totalitarian government (I believe we are on the verge of having one) has been a General Strike. These bastards expect the most productive members of our society to pay for all their backroom deals. So what happens when those productive members all of a sudden cease to be productive? All of my life, I have been a happy and proud American. I have gone to work, voted, paid my taxes and tried to lend a hand to those who were less fortunate than myself. Now, I'm MAD AS HELL. Everything I have always believed in has been spit on, pissed on and dragged through the mud. My rights to self determination are being threatened by, as Ayn Rand would say, a "looter mentality". It's time that the Sleeping Giant awakens. The alarm is sounding, yet we seem to be pressing the snooze button. We are being overrun by radicals, yet we have not found the radical within ourselves. These people are counting on our lack of resolve. They count on us not using their tactics. They count on us not stooping to their levels or lower. That's why they feel comfortable in dictating our lives. I say lets get down on their level. Let's show our resolve. If we think they have stooped too low, grab a pick and a shovel and stoop lower. If we are unwilling to drop the gloves, we are a lost cause.

They didn't seem to mind it in 1938.

There is a reason the R's did nothing, because there was nothing that should have been done. Our Federal Government should have absolutely no role in our health system as specified by the 10th Amendment. The problem is that so many people, like you perhaps, think that every problem should have a governmental solution. Health care was actually pretty cheap until the government got involved. FDR put a national freeze on salaries, which caused companies to offer health insurance as the only way they could reward their employees for good work. LBJ created Medicare and Medicaid sending an even larger pool of money into health care. Before these two developments, health care was consumer driven and the costs were what the market would bear. Now, with such a large pool of money available, costs have skyrocketed. In countries that don't have insurance or goverment driven prices (e.g. India) modern health care is still relatively inexpensive. You can have a coronary artery bypass done in India for about the cost of a good used car ($10,000), expensive but not insane (yes, it's done in very modern hospitals with good equipment and competent personel). The other problem we have is what we expect from "health insurance". We don't expect our home owners insurance to pay for our stopped up commode, our cracked kitchen tile or our leaky faucet. We don't expect our auto insurance to replace our tires or get our oil changed. However, we expect our health insurance to pay for normal day to day problems. Insurance, in general, was designed to take the catastrophic risks away from people, not to pay for normal problems.

Hope you never do any of these things Stupid Laws - Tennessee

Actually, your views are very close to mine. One problem we now have is the fact that we have made so many crimes that would have historically been misdemeanors, into "felonies". I personally would like the term felony only applied to violent acts and guaranteed a true life sentence and/or execution. I also would not limit misdemeanor sentences to 11 months 29 days. The truth is our entire criminal code needs to be re-vamped. It does not reflect our society, our belief system or our Constitution as it was originally intended. It has evolved to a point where it no longer makes any sense. If someone is safe enough to be roaming the same streets as I am, they should not be denied any of the same rights and priviledges that I enjoy. However, all too often our legal system sees fit to put way too many un-safe people back on the streets to commit the very same crimes they were originally convicted of and/or worse.

What I find interesting about this discussion is the fact that so many "gun people" are arguing against the "fundamental right" to keep and bear arms by a entire class of people. Last time I checked it is protected by the 2nd Amendment. Would these same people argue that convicted felons should not have the right to speak, pray, publish a newspaper, have warrantless searches of their property or be forced to harbor military personel in their dwelling? Probably not. Until we recognize the 2nd Ammendment for what it truely is (Heller ruled that it is a fundamental right or God-given right that no government can take away), how can we expect non-gun folks to do the same?

UT bans gun ownership of all student athletes.
tntnixon replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
If these are in the Constitution then I'm being denied my rights:D. According to this article Does University of Tennessee discriminate against student-athletes? Mr. Hamilton had not cleared this policy with the legal department, yet and it will probably be tweeked. My suspicion is that Mr. Hamilton has made a knee-jerk reaction, and didn't fully understand the legal implications of it. Even the legal commentator of the television station where he unveiled this new policy had some pretty strong reservations about it's legality. The policy hasn't even been written at this point and isn't expected to go into effect until July. I bet it will read significantly different than Mike Hamilton's off-the-cuff remarks. All that being said, Mike Hamilton needed to be fired before this decision was made by him. He has only confirmed what I already thought of him. One other side note, there is a certain Governorial candidate by the name of Haslam that has a very strong enfluence on the goings on On Rocky Top. This gentleman needs our votes and I would encourage each and every one of us to contact his campaign and express our anger at this decision. -
If this is the reason you hated your 1911, your not gonna like the Sig much better. The Sig is a bitch to carry concealed and not very comfortable. Sigs are fine weapons, but not for everyone. My suspicion is that you may be one of those. I'm one, too.

Sad News From "Deadliest Catch", Captain Phil Harris dies
tntnixon replied to Motasyco's topic in General Chat
I can explain why. Because a man can tell when another man is a hell of a lot tougher than he is. These guys are the toughest SOB's I've ever seen in my life. I've seen some of these "greenhorns" who you'd think would be tough (i.e. a professional bull rider), and they can't even make it a week. Discovery brought out the new show, "Swords: Life on the Line" last year, and watching them was like watching guys on a tropical vacation compared to the DC guys. RIP Phil, you were a hell of a man. The thing I liked about Phil was he actually cared about his crew, unlike some of the other captains. -
A quote from Washington about one of his units: "They were twenty-four in number; and their united ages reached one thousand." Seriously, I encourage anyone to read David McCullough's book 1776. One of the best books any patriot could read.

Kent Williams wants to wait on our rights

Sgt. Joe, When cases are combined before the SCOTUS, it usually means the original petitioner, that has been granted cert., has ceded part of their time to another case because they feel they can add something to the arguement that helps their cause. So No and Yes to your question about whether or not they will "both" be heard. They are both being heard, but they are being combined into one arguement time, usually 30minutes of actual arguement but it's the Justice's perogative to grant more time if it so pleases them. The bad thing for the lawyers argueing before the court is they never actually get to make the presentation that they prepared. The Justices constantly interupt them with questions, so they may or may not actually get to present their case. Fortunately, the briefs generally make the actual arguements and the Justices' questions are usually to clear up any questions they have about them (the SCOTUS Justices are many times more prepared than the attorneys argueing before them). -
The same kind of folks Washington organized during the Revolutionary War.

The thing that makes this site so good, is the members. This is the smartest and responsible group of gun owners I have ever seen. I would say we, as a group, are 90th percentile and that ain't bad. very few mall ninjas, rednecks and street thugs. Mostly law abiding, professional, and educated people who just believe in the Second Amendment. You can't beat that.

Romantic, Quiet, Mid Priced Restaurant in Nashville
tntnixon replied to Luckyforward's topic in General Chat
There is an "old school" Italian restaurant in Hendersonville called Nana Rosa's. Small and quaint. Big emphasis on a traditional red sauce (the lasagna is the best I've had in years). Bring your own wine (BYOB only). -
Corporations Will Choose Leaders Now
tntnixon replied to Oh Shoot's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
When people start talking about the evil corporations and how they're not "people", it shows a lack of knowledge of what a "corporation" is. Corporations are people. They are the workers, the owners, the customers and the suppliers. There was a time and a place when Americans actually understood this. There was a time when business was respected by the people and the government and vice versa (if people want to talk about bailouts, J.P.Morgan bailed out the United States government not once but twice). Unfortunately, starting with Woodrow Wilson, there has been an almost hundred year old smear campaign against business. This campaign has been so effective, that even some relatively conservative folks start to believe the propaganda. This whole "screw business" mentality is exactly what has led us to a national income tax, inflation, and a large part of the current economic problems. Our citizens have come to the conclusion that when everything doesn't go right in their lives, it must be someone elses fault. The easiest place to point one's finger is this faceless and nameless place called "big business. They gripe when the price of gas goes up and accuse the oil companies of profiteering. These same people expect they're 401k bottom line to keep going up, but blame the businesses they own a part of for screwing them. You simply can't have it both ways. There is no secret cabal that sits around controlling our lives. We are business, even if we don't know it. We control our own lives for good or bad. We actually have a say so. The corporations that we are a part of, actually speak for us. -
Corporations Will Choose Leaders Now
tntnixon replied to Oh Shoot's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Exactly. The converse is also true. As the corporate tax rates go up, prices go up and profits plummet because people have a certain price point in mind for all non-essential goods. Take for instance the Remington/Bushmaster ACR. While the price point is not affected by the corporate tax rate, per se, the manufacturers have priced it beyond what most consumers will consider an appropriate price point and their profits will likely suffer. Corporate taxes have the exact same effect. -
I can't believe there is a gun law in Canada that is more liberal than the US. Who'da thunk?
