Imprinting at the Liquor store

I know, but currently every bank around here is posted that way. Seems like those signs all went up over night. -
Imprinting at the Liquor store
tntnixon replied to tntnixon's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Rivergate Liquors -
So I was at the liquor store yesterday to pick up som Flying Dog Raging Bitch beer for the Fourth an I had to bend down to the floor to get it ( guess my G27 imprinted bending down so low). As I arose standing beside me was a vision in all things 511 and full body armor. This "gentleman" asked me what police department I belonged to. I stated that I belonged to none. He then said I was breaking the law by carrying in a liquor store. I said that I did not believe that to be the case but if he was a security guard acting on hehalf of the owner, he could ask me to leave. He stated that would not be necessary but I needed to "know the law about carrying in a liquor store or a bank". I told him it was also legal to carry in a bank, but hats and sunglasses are no-no's. He then told me that he was a "state police officer working security on the side and I know the law". At that quote, I was kind enough to ask him "What department do you belong to? My wife has some pretty good friends at TBI that I'd like to have commend you on your knowledge of the law". This guy then states the damnest thing I've ever heard "My deparment is so secret and high up that I'm not at liberty to discuss it." His blacked teeth suggested otherwise. I told him I appreciated his educating me and that I would go ahead and leave and would never return to his store again. Anybody know about this "State Secret Police"?

NRA follow up email regarding Reid Endorsement
tntnixon replied to JG55's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I understand this sentement, however this is easily fixed by "scoring" their leadership votes the same as legislation votes. You'd probably see a completely different leadership makeup in the Democratic party. -
NRA follow up email regarding Reid Endorsement
tntnixon replied to JG55's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Here's the problem that the NRA doesn't fully realize, each candidate belongs to a party. At the beginning of each Congress, leaders are chosen from the party from which that person belongs. Those leaders ultimately set the legislative course. All those "A+" democrats voted for Pelosi as Speaker of the House. Harry Reid appointed Chuck Schumer and Dianne Feinstein to their leadership posts. The party does matter, unfortunately. But in spite of the leadership issues, Reid has a horrible overall voting record for guns rights. Of course, the NRA doesn't have the best guns rights track record either. Most laws restricting our rights have been written by the NRA. -
That was the "Big Green Machine" aka Big wheel on steroids. I loved mine!!!!!

The NFA and "standing before the court"
tntnixon replied to tntnixon's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I don't see that happening, at least from the court. Heller did not abandon Miller. Heller merely expanded on Miller and limited the interpretation of it (Miller was being used to allow any and all firearms laws to go unchecked by the courts). -

Why do you say that? McDonald just re-affirmed Heller and applied it to states and cities. The NFA is a federal law. -
The NFA and "standing before the court"
tntnixon replied to tntnixon's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I just read the ruling on this case. The one problem is that it is pre-Heller. Heller has since become the controlling authority and any laws must be examined through it which makes all firearms laws more suspect. -
The NFA and "standing before the court"
tntnixon replied to tntnixon's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
You can't really get money for this type of suit, only "relief". Also, there have been many cases where merely "being denied" didn't get you standing before the court until you actually did the thing and were punished for it. -
The NFA and "standing before the court"

I can't find a case while doing a cursory search. Maybe someone else can find one, who has better resources. If, as McDonald and Heller have suggested, the right to keep and bear arms, is indeed an indivdual civil right. Then these fees and taxes are no different than the old "poll tax" under Jim Crow. Harper v. Virginia Board of Elections would be the controlling case for that type of situation. -
So the ACLU warns against travel to AZ, but not to Mexico or other dangerous places around the world or in the US. Go figure.

Now I'm starting to feel old. I don't even know who any of these groups are.

What I find interesting is the lack of dissent among the Chicago Aldermen. They seem to be unanimous in their insanity, which is a very dangerous prospect, indeed. I've got an idea for a new law. The writer of this article can only write once and they just blew their opportunity on this POS.

As many of you know, you can't just file a law suit over a law that you don't like. You must be an "injured party" in order to have "standing before the court". With the NFA, I have seen many scenarios spoken of to gain "injured party" status, but they all involved having to go to "club fed" until the court challenge played itself out. However, there is one other way to become an injured party, financial injury. You could actually sue over that little tax stamp on an NFA regulated weapon. Unfortunately, conservatives have never fully utilized the court system the way liberals do even though we generally have far more financial resources.

The Who Mozart Johnny Cash Metallica Willie Waylon AC/DC Larry Gatlin John Conlee Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (Will the Circle Be Unbroken should be in every record collection) I listen to too many different genres and many artists to pick just one. Hell, I have about 40Gb on my Ipod, currently.

McDonald v. Chicago SCOTUS Opinion
tntnixon replied to eapking's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Well, if the 2nd Amendment is incorporated, it would null and and void the "to prevent crime" clause, since the US Constitution has no such provision. Incorporation doesn't allow the state to be more stringent than what would be allowed under the US Constitution. -
There is one big problem with permitless carry. Some states will pull out of our reciprocity agreements, limiting our movement.

If you bankrupt the company by beating them up too bad, there will be nobody left to pay but the taxpayers. Somehow, our "leaders" don't understand this concept.

Just bout a CZ Sp-01 Phantom yesterday. Any ideas on good belt holsters. Will probably get a Supertuck for summer, but I like a nice leather holster for wearing under my sport coat during the winter. 2 rules, must be black and must have a good shiny finish, but not patent.

Problems with those that carry in a restaurant?
tntnixon replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume, that since CK was a restaurant/bar owner, he served people more than 2 drinks in an hour (our liver conjugates one drink an hour and 2 drinks will almost certainly put you over the 0.08 threshold) and sent them on there merry way to get behind a wheel without even thinking about it. That is far more dangerous than having a HCP holder, who is not drinking, be in his establishment and is actually illegal (yes, a restaurant or bar can be held liable for over serving). But hey, you made more money in the long run, right? And for all the people who say that a big man can drink more than a little woman without being considered drunk, you're wrong. The percentage of alcohol in the bloodstream has nothing to do with your size or your perception of a buzz. It's purely the uptake of the alcohol. -
For almost 200 years of the American Experiment, people who think like me have been "mainstream" and America prospered. Now, for the last 40 years, people who think like me are gradually being considered a fringe right wing and America is getting closer to collapse. I have a theory that there is a direct correlation.

Chicago: Criminals aren't only ones ignoring city handgun ban
tntnixon replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Actually, the Chicago handgun ban is a city ordinance and is only punishable by a $500.00 fine. -
If you think the Leinad is a good weapon, you probably are also in the market for a Bryco/Jennings. They have about the same quality control.
