  1. First the good news: I bought a "new" CZ-82 from CDNN for $169.00 in very good to excellent condition and it is indeed (of course it needs one hell of a cleaning to get all the oil and grease off it) and completed the transfer without a hitch with our good friends from D&T Arms (I'm trying to give them as much business as possible because they are new and fellow TGOers). They handled the transfer very well and were great to work with. Now the bad news: I had also ordered a extra mag for $30.00 and expected it to be delivered to my house but it hadn't shown up. So I called CDNN and inquired as to the whereabouts of my magazine. I was told that it was in the same box as the pistol and I should check back with D&T. After calling them, I was informed that, although it was on the invoice, the magazine was not part of the shipment. So back on the phone with CDNN I go and am told by them that "we always have two people sign off on every order" and that for me to get another magazine delivered, I have to get D&T to fill out a postal claim form and send it back to them. So here's my dilemma: I paid a fair price to D&T for a firearms transfer which they performed to my satisfaction an gave me a TGO discount to boot. I did not pay them to be dealing with postal claim forms. I do not believe that the magazine was stolen since they don't even deal in CZ-82's and would have no reason to steal it. I spent $30.00 on a magazine that I didn't receive but feel it would be unfair to ask D&T to have to fill out more paperwork, since it was not their responsibility in the first place. And CDNN says there is no way they sent 2 different packages. What to do?
  2. Berry's Pawn in Madison had a P-01 for $350.00 in unfired condition on Saturday. It was all I could do to not put my money down but I was looking for something else and somehow restrained myself. They also had a Russian Makarov for $399.00 which was a total rip off. Seems these guys have no idea about what guns should go for.
  3. I've heard people downing 135gr .40 for under-penetrating, but I call BS. Take DoubleTap ammo, for instance. It is .043" larger than .357mag and weighs 10gr heavier while traveling just as fast at 1500fps. Nobody would ever argue that 125gr .357mag JHP's under-penetrated, since it has long been considered the "gold standard" for defensive handgun loads. But for some reason, well informed gun owners and shooters will down the 135gr .40. Go figure.
  4. From my recent reading, here is the way I take it: Any discrepancy found with the Constitution and The Organic Laws will be trumped by the Constitution because it is the supreme law. Any later laws that conflict with the Organic laws will be trumped by the later passed law since the Organic laws are merely legislative acts and can be overturned by later legislative acts. This is why the Organic laws are never used to overturn a law and are rarely quoted by the SCOTUS or any other federal courts.
  5. This is one time when I'm glad I didn't post what I thought I knew, because I would have been wrong. I was certain that The Declaration of Independence was not part of the US Code, however it is. It is at the very first part under "The Organic Laws of The United States". It was passed under the first Congress and signed by the President, therefore it is law. However, because it is not part of the Constitution, any discrepancy with any later passed laws would be trumped by the most recent law.
  6. This actually may get to the floor under the more conservative legislature because the first act of the more conservative legislature was to disband all subcommittees, where most legislation dies. Many people don't realize it, but this will have the most dramatic effect on the way our legislature works since reconstruction.
  7. This is right on. People seem to confuse "rights" with privileges granted by the legislature. We have the "right" to keep the government from taking our property without due process. It is a privilege that keep non-government entities from taking our property. It is a right that LEO's can not shoot you for suspicion of committing a crime, but it is a privilege that the government prevents others from shooting you. We have the Right to keep the government from gagging us when we speak, but it is only a privilege that others may not gag us. Every perceived right from interference by others, unfortunately, is merely privilege and may be taken away at any time without any recourse. Therefore, the privilege that business owners enjoy over their parking lots may legally be taken away because it was only granted to them through a similar legislative act.
  8. Now we're making progress because you are exactly right. The Constitution is about the limitations placed on the government, not about limitations placed on individuals. Limitations placed on individuals are statutory and therefore not "rights". You can ask someone to leave your property at any time, however unless you decide to physically remove them or kill them, you have really no ability to enforce that request except by having a government entity remove them for you for having violated you percieved "property rights" violation. The "rights" you have against tresspass and the limits placed upon you to enforce it are merely the result of legislative fiat and therefore are not "rights" at all. Likewise a legislative process that gave you those "rights" and limitations may also give you more rights, take away rights, take away limitations or even impose more limitations upon you at their mere whim. Our property rights are merely protecting us from government interference, not interference from each other.
  9. And yes I have probably more knowledge of medicine than you think, my friend. And I would never downgrade nor would I understate the plight of the disabled. What I was saying is that you can't make exceptions based on your personal situation, no matter what it is. It is rather funny how we as humans try to find ways around the rules in order to satisfy our own unique lifestyle so as to feel as little pain as possible. We do it with religion, laws and even our Constitution. For over 200 years our Constitution has faced constant assault pretty much since the day after it was ratified. Instead of taking the plain meaning, we have tried to find ways around it instead of just trudging straight through it. My camparison was not between guns and disabilities, but between guns and the tools that those with disabilities use. One is Constitutionally protected and one is not. I have no Constitutional right to the medications that I take even though without them I will eventually die. Even the dialysis machine that I will end up on is not a Constitutional right. Keeping an bearing arms is, however, protected.
  10. I haven't posted in a while, but this sentence piqued my interest. For 20 million years of human existence, people with disabilities functioned without any mechanical means in going about their activities of daily living. Those mechanical means are "tools" or objects, under your own definition. You may breath in and out repetively and have your heart go pitter-pat without them, however your life may not be as pleasant. Your chair is not who you are, but merely how you go about your bussiness in the most comfortable manner you know. Guns, likewise, are tools, as you described. Tools which our forefathers felt were so necessary for ones liberty and safety that the codified it in the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution of the United States and tried to reinforce through the 14th Amendment to prevent newly freed slaves from being denied that same right. These men felt that being weaponless was very unpleasant and the consequences to our liberty where dire. Carrying a handgun is how I go about my business in the most comfortable way I know. We can all argue about what the courts and the legislative processes have done to our Constitution and it's original intent (I disagree with most of the rulings made with regard of my right to keep and bear arms). But what we can't do is say that a right that is not explicit trumps rights that are. The personal property rights which are being expoused exist even less than our right to keep and bear arms. Think about it, I even have to get permission to re-wire my home, build a fence, open a business and choose to discriminate against anyone I feel like for whatever reason I feel is necessary. I do not have the right to deny access to my property to the mail carrier, meter reader, codes enforcement officer or even the guy who wants to repossess my car, all of which may against my will as an owner of my property. Do I believe that I should have those rights as a property owner? Absolutely!!! Do I have a legal basis or grounds to make such an assertion? Hell no!!!
  11. Every auction I've ever been to that had guns, were insane. The prices always go for more than a brand new firearm. But when you see the people who end up winning the bids you realize they're either under-educated or probably couldn't pass the TICS background check. Kinda scary, actually. This, of course, doesn't count rare and premium firearms. That's a whole other crowd.
  12. I was buying my wife a brand new Acura RL. We were at Gary Force Acura in Cool Springs (a very fancy show room), when the salesperson asked me "Is there anything I can do to make you happier with your purchase?" I looked at him an said "Find a gun rack that will work in it". I thought my wife was gonna kill me!!!
  13. Ticket scalping is how I worked my way through college. At that time, you could just camp out and be the first in line (I used to go to the Castner-Knot's downtown Nashville and spend the night). Made a lot of money with little work that allowed me to study. Also lost my arse a few times, but that is risk vs rewards. Just a little caveat from knowing the scalping game, never go to a concert or a game with a ticket. Wait until right before show time and the scalpers will practically be begging for you to take their tickets usually for less than face value. After the lights go on, they have nothing but useless pieces of cardboard. The key to scalping is sell early because the closer you get to the event, the lower the prices.
  14. Anybody remember "The Rodeo Song". Probably get banned if I post a link to that one but it was probably the most popular song in the 80's with the true cowboy crowd.
  15. These are some very intricate answers, but there is a far simpler one. One of the basic tenets of biology is that only life can begat life. Life does not miraculously appear out of thin air or, in this case, the vaccum of space. Therefore, in order for this one "universe eating cell" to exist, it must have been the offspring of another "universe eating cell". So you would already be too late by the time you tried to keep this one from reproducing.
  16. Was this course actully taught by Ayoob or ws it just his course plan?
  17. I know, don't cross the 38th parallel. See how stopping an all out war gets you in a stale mate. Stale mate was not what the Europeans were looking for. Remember, they were being attacked.
  18. Did you actually read any of the passages that were quoted? Because none of them say what that author "paraphrases" them as saying. Once again, read in its entirety, then judge. I have read the Quran more than once, Therefore I have some insight.
  19. One last thing, Daniel, and please don't take this as a personal attack, because it's not. If you're going to fight against something as hard as you do like religion, please take the time to read the sacred texts of them so you can understand them more. And I mean cover to cover, not snippets taken out of context. I do not expect you to take my word for any of it, but will offer to give you a copy of the Holy Bible and the Quran for you to be better prepared in your arguements against religion. PM me with your address and I will have a copy of both in your mail ASAP.
  20. And the answer to this point is, although there have indeed been some horrific things done in the name of Christianity such as the Spanish Inquisition (I do not count the Crusades because it was done in self defense), there is no scriptural justification for it in the Bible in any way, shape, or form. Self defense is the only justification for violence under the Christian scriptures. However, in the Quran, violence is at the very heart of the text. The spread of Islam, by force, is it's central theme. Killing and murder are not only condoned, but promoted and not merely as a self defense mechanism. That is a huge difference that even a self proclaimed "atheist" should understand.
  21. I love the lack of historical accuracy that pervades our culture, not. What has somehow been lost in the 20th/21st Centuries, but was understood for 1000 years before, was that the Crusades were a direct response to the Moorish invasion of Western Europe. The only thing that is preventing us from all being under Sharia Law currently is the victory of Charles "The Hammer" Martel over Tariq ibn-Zayad in 732 AD at the Battle of Tours. The Moors, or Muslims as we now call them, had conquered all of Hispania and Gaul and were rapidly taking over the entirety of Europe. But somehow, that has been completely forgotten. I guess the Europeans were supposed to have gladly accepted the Moors with open arms and given up, then and only then would they have not been guilty of the horrible atrocity of fighting back. The Islamists are just pissed that they did not succeed and but have since succeeded in re-writing history, and Americans are buying it.
  22. Starting Thursday, this'll be me for the next week. Haven't had a vacation in nearly 3 years so I'm gonna do it right. Unfortunately, I'll be sans 'puter. Will probably go into DT's from TGO (or I'll spend all my time at the Kinkos in Destin).
  23. I haven't even found it by the case, but the average price of a 20 round box has been around $60.00. 1000/20x60=3000. But I just found that if you order direct from SBR you can get 200 rds for $400 which would make a case a paltry $2000.
  24. I'm actually considering an upper purchase. Buying that case of ammo has a rather steap price, though. $3000.00 as case makes me want to hurl.
  25. 1000 rounds does have a special ring to it, doesn't it. Unfortunately, or fortunately for that matter, I get the "sweats" when I see the price of all the add ons and end up backing off when it's time to press the "check out" button on my online orders.
