Id try different ammo and see. With the rush to load more and more ammo weak stuff gets out the door. Get with a few guys you shoot with who chrono their ammo and try some of their reloads.  Try 2 or 3 different factory loads and see. If I remember right (might not) WWB is one of the weakest if not the weakest commercial loads out there.

  I'm about an hour from the Range as well. Im on the other end of Roane county and it's well worth the trip.  Cleveland also have IDPA on the 3rd Saturday but that would be about 2 hours for ya.

I read where Botach was under new management and was "better" now, but I think they are still a  YMMV company at best.

  You need to go back and look at some of the ISPC guns from the 70s and 80s. They are basically what your talking about. You'd love to look at em. I think they got a thread with pics somewhere on Benos.com.    I remember the 45 single stacks with comps in Ernie Hill leather race holsters.  If you saw Scott Glen's rid in Silverado how it was a gunfighter rig, same concept.

There is no reason to get 10 round mags, unless your shooting a 1911!    When you jinx yourself and get stuck with a 10 round mag for carry (non 1911) don't say you weren't warned!

  The 80s called.....they want their "race gun" back!  :rofl:  :rofl:  :rofl:   Are you going to do the work yourself or get someone else to build it?   I don't see a beaver tail grip safety on the list. Does the GI have the spur hammer and tang safety or does it come with a beaver tail already?

I think it's been more of a "this is what we know and this is what we teach". I know I have seen Suarez grow over the last 2 years that i have been hanging out over there. I know that I see more and more people trying to break into the field and with the MagPul videos that were out and popular that was the IT THING!   It's the same with IDPA, they focus on the carry permit crowd and since the training junkies can't sustain income levels in this slumped economy they have taken to seeing what is really needed by people. The more "real world for the rest of us" training that gets offered the better.
