He did a lot of USO tours, always made time for Soldiers to talk, pics and whatnot. I think his golf explanation is what really turned me on to him. I feel for his family, but it's so hard for me to feel sorry for someone who took the easy way out, specially since financially everything is at his disposal to overcome. Up to 20+ Soldiers take their life through drugs/alcohol/suicide/mental breakdown every day and the media hype was minimal. Not all those Soldiers got help due to VA and red tape...... This is just sad all around. I do appreciate him for the laughter he has shared and happiness he has given to countless people.

I disagree, although I would like to have as much of all you listed, time is what usually prevents it.....

^^^^ This, I had my AR for years (M&P 15T) and was happy, then my kids and nephew/nieces started shooting it and it has symbolically become theirs. I just traded some handguns for a totally different AR because, we'll, seemed like the right time and as LNG as there grades were good they could shoot "their" AR. Once you find the balance of family, time and money as stated above, you'll know.

To misquote Bill Gates "Every job is an opportunity" - glad you are able to provide for the family. Since moving to TN I've met many people that retired from or used Nissan as a stepping stone to other things. Either way, happy for you.....

+1 It's my favorite range to take my kids and nephews/nieces to. Safety factor is stressed throughout the firing line. -
Spend a few tours in the sandbox and you'll welcome every season. Not enough rain this year yet if you ask me.

Great information all, appreciate it....

Great insights so far, I will be stocking this with grass fed - grain finished cow/pork and wild caught fish and basically edibles that are healthier for the family. Maybe I watch too much documentaries about processing and food handling but cancer runs in the wife and I families so we are trying to be proactive in health and I think investing in good food and a way to store it will be well served. Researching the best way to get a cow and processing places also, deer I do myself and enjoy it since I hunt, and gut(eat the heart, liver fry the intestines).

If everything is on time I should be moving to my new house come Sep. or Oct. and I would like to see the brand and size freezer ya'll use or think I need for 3 to 4 rockfish, as many crappie I can catch and 1/3 of a 1200lb cow. The wife and I plan on eating the food throughout the year. I also have been lucky enough to bag a deer or so per season. Did the usual google-fu and talked to Home Depot/Lowes about this with mixed advice so I figured the end user could steer me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

That was a good soundtrack and skill to hit a moving target on an unstable platform. Meats donated to be eaten, population control - that's my kind of party.

Just got mine, late but that was my fault. All in all great knife as expected by what everyone was saying and based on what I read about these knives. One of the gems to me is the way willis68 executed the whole transaction, never met the guy, but businesses could learn from the way he handled everything and making me feel at ease buying a knife of this caliber/price. My most expensive knife is an Emerson I've had for years that one of my Soldiers gave me as a goodbye gift. This knife will be my 2nd go-to blade, I plan putting it through the phases. Once again, thanks willis68.

This pretty much ruined the tail end of Fathers Day for me. Got three kids and have an American Pittbull Terrier, hopefully KFC does the right thing. If it happened as stated, the employee that asked the family to leave needs a knuckle sandwich, also anyone that was part of the decision process. This is why I stick with Chick-fil-a and Firemans Sub, they seem to stress customer service and the employees seem genuinely happy. I have many cop friends and aquinteces but that sheriff is an idiot for the support of breed specific ban.

Remembering those who gave it all on Memorial Day.

I work at the Nasville airport and have seen too many processions take the left turn to Donelson on the way to the Warriors final resting place. Being Quartermaster, I've only had one Soldier, SGT Harris, that I knew personally be a casualty of war. The others Soldiers I may have done missions with or help train that paid the ultimate price also hit me, but when you know your battle-buddies family, short/mid and long term goals then through out the year the sting hits when you reminisce. I feel your pain, my one friend feels heavy on my soul. SGT Harris's memorial ride is a must do every year - my wife knows that weather is not a factor and sometimes she is ale to be there and othe times Mother Nature decides otherwise. To the fallen Warriors and their family........ -
Just got off work, was gonna eat some oatmeal and lay down but ended cooking bacon and eggs split between me and four legged buddy. Good thing the mom had a great dog in the family.

If they are good people and I feel that with good conversation and some scenarios they might see the reasoning; I'll take my time and chi-chat. I have met soo many people just really have been sheltered or indifferent but curious. Then there are like the one you wrote about and I usually say something in the line of "I don't answer stupid questions or talk to idiots so we shouldn't be speaking." I'm at a point now that I try hard to brush off anything that takes me away from my happy place.

Jumping off Mt Everest in a wing suit, live May 11 on Discovery

Unless you're a Sherpa that's been retained by the more higher end guide companies, you really don't make that much money. This tragedy sucks but maybe it will cause the money to be trickled a little more and make it to the worker bees. -

Jumping off Mt Everest in a wing suit, live May 11 on Discovery

There seems to be 2 thoughts on climbing Everest, 1. Traditional people feel the 3 months climb, getting acclimated and experiencing with minimal "technology" is the way to do it. Using oxygen on the down climb, dealing with the traffic going up and whatnot. 2. There are now people who do boutique climbs and charge as such who do it about half the time using every technology available and doing the prepping at the customers home by sleeping in special chambers. It said that the option 2 cost 89 grand. -
Jumping off Mt Everest in a wing suit, live May 11 on Discovery
ncomarc replied to Sam1's topic in General Chat
I read up on this in Outdoors magazine, he'll be using technology to climb up, jump with aerodynamic wings which he will detach sometime down the mountain then use the wingsuit to finish off. He won't be climbing in the traditional way, oxygen mask up and down plus just better gear. There should be 11 2man camera teams plus and Discovery has about 300 people in this project making it the biggest so far that they've done. -
Somewhat like yourself I've always been active in sports, wrestling, grappling and BJJ. In my younger years I thought I would always stand my ground and threw knuckles. After awhile you realize the jack-off that's probably drunk in front of you is really no threat and not fair to fight because of my training. That and situational awareness has kept me from any situation for many years. Then I got my carry permit, someone was having a special for Soldiers, it was cheap so why not. I usually carry when I'm with my family, and in that instance the opposing individual will dictate whether he has a bad day or not. I've been lucky, but god forgive me if I have to ensure my families safety cause all bets are off. If I'm by myself and they don't have a gun, they better be able to run faster than a 7minute mile for a few miles or they'll just see my backside. I have no interest of the drama involved in using my sidearm. I guess my main point is - if you have to unholster your gun, they've already given you no choice. Strictly my opinion........

Good copy, so the serial # will be a surprise for me then.
