  1. That's awesome....
  2. My biggest take away was you explaining how your dad pulled you over and evacuated your reaction, basically a mini AAR. My kids and I talk about issues as soon as it's reported, then visit it weeks later to see how our views remained the same or changed. I believe like the huge gap of haves and have nots, there is a gap of kids with adult guidance and those without......
  3. I agree with all stated above, the formulas are different - one thing that pisses me off is the fact that because the ARMY needs a certain number of Soldiers to get allotted a certain amount of funding, Drill Instructors are pressured to keep Soldiers even though they should be kicked out.
  4. Now that I've gotten more information, I don't think our vehicle situation is that alike - except for the sentimental attachment part. My truck is a work truck in a sense and I plan on keeping her mechanically sound but will not restore her. Good luck on the decision process.
  5. I got an 86 Toyota truck my parents bought new. When my mom passed away and my sister was thinking of getting rid of it, I shipped it from California to Nashville because of the sintemental attachment. I have people leave me notes all the time about wanting to buy it and even though I don't use it enough, she's not going anywhere unless it will help someone out. Keep it.
  6. When I was there locals weren't allowed to gamble so talk with the taxi drivers and they'll take you to the "local" dives. I met a lot of retired people there from every part of the world it seems.
  7. If your a foodie then take a taxi to where the fishermen dock, buy off the boat, walk 50 to 75 meters to where the food stalls are and have them cook it for you. Conch salad, conch fritters (they'll teach you how to remove the conch if you ask them) and the freshest cooked fish/shellfish you will ever have. Man I'm hungry.........
  8. Wasn't till I was 8yrs old before Coming to the US so eating fish heads is something I enjoy. They say the cheek is the prime meat for fish. Take the high road and just ban them for life. I've accidentally broke the rules before and my fellow TGO's looked out for me. We help/police each other and that's what makes this forum an enjoyable, positive experience. With pre-teen to older daughters, I have plenty of drama already.
  9. You have me thinking about one real bad, I'd probably set it up the same way. I keep flip flopping between one like yours or a nice .44 wheel gun.
  10. This has been shared on my units FB page - hopefully I'm in town and can make it.
  11. That is beautiful and I've been admiring your work for a while now.
  12. Google waterfalls around Nashville and you'll see there are 12+ within and hour or so drive.
  13. Cummins Falls is one of the swimming holes I visit several times a year. If you go early enough, the pictures you can take are awesome.
  14. Piney Canoe and camp fit most of your wants or Floating Mills on Center Hill lake.
  15. ^^^^ nice write up, hopefully I'll be able to participate on the next one.
  16. I've googled and read up on the pocket carry threads on here, but I would like to hear actual hands on opinions on my particular carry options: 1. I have the chance of getting a .45 xdm that has already been sent to the factory for the safety upgrade at a great price. I've shot it and can handle it with no issues. Will be needing to get a grip tape of some sort, after 200rnds palm started chaffing. Reliability - no issues with mix loads. 2. I was thinking of waiting for the G43, I know it's a 9mm, but I'm familiar with Glocks and thought that would be my summer/pocket carry pistol. Can't find any ranges that have any for rent. 3. Stick with a G-26. Normally I would enjoy figuring it out on my own by renting and shooting them side by side, unfortunantly with my empending furlough, I would rather hear from people that have handled them or can speak of the ergonomics. I've done good with help from this sight on my questions in the past. I've had Khar PM9's, a Rorbaugh 9 and currently carry a G-26 so for those that have played around with those guns, what say you?
  17. Awesome and stay safe.
  18. NAPA sells a generic kit that worked on my Toyota and Honda, $15 but it came with a lot of extras. They let me take it out to my car and compare that it would work.
  19. ^^^ +1, last time someone got aggressive with me I dialed 911 and headed to the closest police station.
  20. Been saving my money for a Sig 938, guess I'll hold out to see how G43 is rated/does. That's awesome you were invited for a sneak peek.
  21. In all fairness, if your son was responsible and the one that went out of his way to help; be there for you and the wife then your plan sounds good. Would your son help out his sisters if they fell on hard times? If he's the one that's gonna look out for his siblings and is very financially responsible? I've seen my parents friends want to be fair and not hurt any of their kids feelings only to see the money lost to vices or stupid financial decisions. Lastly, even though you are well off, would your son care for you if for some reason you needed care or put you in a care home? If a care home, save your money so you can get home care at your small house. My kids know I'm there to help them through college and any emergencies. Otherwise I'm spending my cash on travel, food and my dog.
  22. I wanted that style HD when I got back from my last deployment but alas, my situation at the time only allowed me the Streetbob. Those type tires is more conducive to my riding style than the ones I got. Congrats.......
  23. I have an 86 Toyota truck my mom bought new shipped from Ca to TN when my she passed away. Still running great and would be my daily driver except the A/C sucks. Seeing what they were doing to that truck irked me but was fun to watch none the less.
  24. That Jackson Hole, WY.?
  25. Quality of life and work. Hard to get a perfect balance, but my family/mental/emotional well being comes first. Had to work two jobs to make ends meet financially before, but at least I had a good environment and when the opportunity for me to get the job I currently have now was available - I jumped on it and hope this blessing lasts. If it doesn't get better then on to the next one.
