Looks like MGM is digitally altering the movie.... changing the Chinese to North Korean. LINK Kinda pisses me off. Should have figured as much though. Don't want to offend our Chinese Overlords.

I did that with my old cell phone, called it and it didn't ring... pulled it out and it started ringing. Did the same "trick" with my new phone to show a friend... it rang inside the microwave. Weird.

The most important thing to learn from the Japan disaster
creeky replied to Glenn's topic in Survival and Preparedness
What has gotten me thinking is the need for a good Plan "B". Seems everyone plans on "Bugging in" for the most part. Which is perfectly reasonable if the situation calls for it. But what happens if say Oak ridge goes into meltdown, or a train with highly toxic chemicals derails close to your home and they call for evacuations. What else besides a BOB would you be grabbing? Especially if you only had about 30 minutes to do it. (Every minute longer... the traffic with everyone else trying to get out of Dodge will be getting longer.) You can't take it all. Where are you going to go? You may have family that lives south... but what if the "accident" happens between you and them... do you have another place to head to? Since I am playing the "What If" game... what if you are at work, wife and kids at home? Would they know what to start grabbing while you try and get home? (Medicines, important papers, etc.) Or better yet will you and your family meet up somewhere? Stuff to think about I guess. -
The down turn in the economy and my son getting diagnosed with Type I put a major squeeze on the "Creeky Home Front". Up until then I had been getting everything in place for an 10.5" SBR'd AR-15. This year I am getting in much better shape. We're finally about to see some light toward the end (Lord willing) of the end of the summer. If all goes well... and no set backs... I hope to finally have a 7.3" SBR'd AR in 9mm. (CMMG Flavor) Then... if all continues to go well a suppressor for it the following year. At least that's the plan.

You'll really enjoy the .357 sig once you get the barrel. I have had my USPc since 2000 and it is great. I've been debating on getting a .40 cal barrel or start hand loading for the .357sig because of the expense. On the trigger, I have gotten great compliments on my trigger as well. Most that have shot it too have been surprised. I would like to get a USPc in 9mm so I could shoot cheaper. Money just is too tight right now. ;( Congrats on a great gun!!

As was explained to me that model Tracker was not made every month, or every 3 months. They didn't have any and the next batch to be made was Stainless... They offered: • To replace his blued for stainless (no Charge) • Shipping was on them. • He didn't argue or anything, they offered the stainless upgrade to get it in his hands quicker. They could have told him to go pound sand!(And rightly should have!) Those reloads he was shooting were CRAP! He got them in a ziplock bag with the gun at a gun show. The previous year at our church's congregational shoot he had problems with those same reloads. How bad?? The crimp wasn't tight and the cylinder wouldn't even turn because two of them lost crimp and slide out from the recoil. I was the RSO on that line and had to clear it. I told him then and there to ditch those reloads, that they were unsafe and not to use them on the line any more that day. He was cool with it. He shot the rest of teh day a new box he had. Fast forward a year... he's back on the line and I joke with him about having any reloads with him. He assures me he doesn't, laughs, and then BOOM! Looking at it after wards those two shells in the picture had different head stamps. And what did I see when we went over to his range bag?!? YUP! That same old ziplock bag of reloads. I thought for sure they would take a look at those two reloads in the cylinder and tell hm they wouldn't cover the warranty. So all things considered... I think he got EXCELLENT customer service. It's all relative.

A good friend of mine had one blow up on him at the range. An Older .44 tracker. I was standing behind and to the right and a piece of the cylinder tapped my safety glasses. He wasn't hurt, had bought the gun used, 3rd owner and they replaced it with no argument what so ever. (Gun still had 2 reloads lodged in the bottom half of the cylinder). I thought for sure they would give him a hard time... specially with the reloads in there. They called him a month later and said because of the way the production runs are they asked if he would mind a stainless model instead of another blued one at no extra charge so they could get it to him quicker... needless to say he said "YEAH!" Six months later he had his new gun. Some times I think maybe we just don't hear about all the times they provide good service. (YMMV)

The .357/9mm convertible was what I was looking for a long time ago. With the economy what it is... getting any Blackhawk is on the back burner right now. My Dad bought my lever at "Big K". A friend ran the sporting goods counter and called him and asked if he wanted to buy it. A guy had it on layaway and hadn't made a payment in about 6 months. All Dad had to pay was what was left on the bill. I think he said it was like $200 bucks or something. They even special ordered it for the guy and everything.

For years I have wanted to get a Ruger Blackhawk to go with it. Still haven't gotten one though.

I ran .38 wad cutters through mine a loooog time ago. I think I had to work the lever a little slower. Also, I try not load .357 or .38's FMJs in the tube. I'm a little worried about the recoil causing a bullet to smack the primer in front of it a little too hard. I could just be paranoid though. Never heard of it happening... just hate to think about it.

I have one. It's about 28 years old... I've never had any problems out of it... only FUN! Really love it. I have a thumb extension (came with it) on the hammer which is really great. About twenty years ago I bought a williams peep sight for it. Like it as well too. What is nice is you can unscrew the aperture out and have a ghost ring type site. Shoots well, .357's tend to heat the barrel up quick though. I have a padded nylon sling that holds about 12 pistol rounds. I have shot some self loaded shot shells through it. (Nothing to really right home about there, sub par at best.) It will shoot through 1/4" steel at about 25-30 ft with 158 grain jacketed hollow points (.357's). Surprised me quite a bit. Made a hole about the size of a .44 cal. .38's are fun to shoot bowling pins with and .357's will give ya' about 10" of flame at night. Really pretty. Hahaha! Recoil isn't really nothing either. I like a short fast handling carbine myself. I like mine for a few reasons... Very easy to hit with, two options for ammo, balances well, has a little weight but still light to carry in the woods and... my Dad bought it for me for Christmas when I was 14. It was a "Here son... enjoy." moment. He grew up shooting a borrowed 32-20 lever he really liked but could never afford. Saw this... and just new his boy had to have it. Hahahaha! Means the world to me. So yeah... go get one. You'll have a lot of fun with it!

Woah: Merscorp Lacks Right to Transfer Mortgages, Judge Says
creeky replied to G27's topic in General Chat
I would venture to guess then any large cities (LA, NY, Chicago, Atlanta, Memphis, etc.) down to certain areas of mid to small cities would become very unfriendly places. Just guessing. I've read FerFal's blog some about what happened in Argentina... it's it's not real rosy. If things go south I just hopes it's two years from now. Too close to paying my house off!!! -

Not to sound like a complete idiot... just a functioning one ... the "Crashing Down" scenario. Would an example of that be close to... say... what Argentina went through? Hyper-inflation, riots, sudden extreme jump in crime, shortages of food and basic necessities, etc. Sort of a 30's type depression... on steroids? -
THANKS! I think you nailed it! Looks like it was made out of Michigan. Awesome work!

Seems like she bought it new. Something about it being a new company and they were just getting started. But that was a long time ago. She later sold it and got a wave runner instead. I drove it a couple of times, but it gave me the creeps. I sat so low in the water that I felt real vulnerable in it.
-
The trolling motor on it was just on it there. These pictures are some the dealer gave her while she tried to decide if she wanted it or not. It then came with an 18hp motor. She passed 10 years ago, and I don't have much more to go on. A guy at work really liked the hull and thought it would make a really neat hobby boat to scoot around in if they could still be found sitting around places.

My mom owned one of these around 95'-96' I think. Here is what I know about it... "Foxy Deluxe" 10.5' x 50" 18hp Motor Carpet AM/FM Cassette Radio Running Lights It was quick, sat really low in the water and turned really sharp. Me and a guy at work are trying to figure out who made them. Can't find anything on the web. This was purchased around Paris Landing... maybe. (She sold the boat after maybe a year.) Anyone ever seen one, heard of them, etc? Don't think they were made very long at all.

Request for examples of "Open carry victim is targeted first"
creeky replied to DRM's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I mean no offense... you did ask for just one case. One source. It has been provided. Weather or not he was "targeted" specifically... he was still open carrying and was robbed. I have heard many people argue the point that simply open carrying deters crime. In this case it seems it did not. This (to me) is a moot argument. No one's opinion will be changed, the pros and cons have been exhausted on many gun forums. People should do what they feel is best for themselves and what is comfortable for them. Telling someone they shouldn't open carry on a gun forum makes about as much sense to me as telling someone they should open carry only. In the end... I do not think anyone's opinions will change, the thread will just disintegrate into name calling. Then again I could be wrong. -

Talk about thread derails... this went from talking about Franklin Gun Shop's hours to "My county can beat up your county... but it wouldn't".
