  1. Bike wrecks are pretty bad. Glad you are okay. I have two friends have bad crashes. One was in the hospital two days, the other 3 weeks and almost died. The doctors said he was very lucky. (It was suspected he was hit from behind on a rural road. It was invested but with no witnesses it went no where.) Really glad your okay though. Hang in there.
  2. I like the movie to. It's based off (loosely) the book"Crow Killer: The Saga of Liver Eating Johnson" Link A very good book, way different than the movie. The movie is very... uh... "Disney" compared to the book. He was a tough guy. It's a really good read. I never new he was an actual person.
  3. I handled a 9mm SBR flat-top with a can that Frank built custom for a guy at a gun show a few months back. Not only did it look ten shades of awesome, it just "felt" right. If that makes any sense. Balance and weight and all. No doubt Frank knows his stuff!
  4. Hey Rabbi... I also like the way it seems that your avatar is looking at the picture! LOL!!
  5. Yeah... I think your right. The more I think about it... it makes more sense to go ahead and build up what I want, and not try to slop it together. I got a working "AR", so I can take my time and get parts I want. It's not that much more to do it right the first time. I just don't want a lot of problems. I want the thing to just run. Besides "Utarch" anyone else running AR SBRs? If so what barrel lengths, and how do you like them? Anything you would do different if you were to build another?
  6. Thanks... Took your advice and did a little googling. It does seems that people have had problems with them. At least in the past. But my receiver falls into roughly the time frame right before I got mine. One horror story was that a guy had one completely out of spec. He went to change uppers and the mag well was located so far out of spec it wouldn't chamber into the upper. Scarry! (Plus they wouldn't do anything about it saying it worked with the upper it shipped with.) Mine was a complete build from the old days. My upper wasn't bought complete but assembled on the spot. I've never had a problem with it as is. But I'm afraid if I SBR'd it now, and wanted to sell it later... one look at the "Oly" on the reciever and people might be scared of it. Soooooo... since lowers are running around $100-110. I guess I ought to just invest in a completely new build for the SBR, and keep the "Oly" as my regular shooter. Any other ideas or suggestion guys? I'm open to them.
  7. (*Dear Admins... Since we have members with SBRs, Vendors selling Suppressors, and AOW's... it would be nice if we had a common "NFA Weapons" section. Just a thought.) I had planned to use my existing AR to convert over to an SBR. I have been researching this stuff fro a while and have gegun to confuse myself. (Which is easy.) I have an Olympic Arms Lower. Had it for years, since about '94-ish. I have roughly 2-3k rounds through it. No problems. But I read this thread on another board... which said... "3. Buy a quality lower preferably from a company that will service it after it has been SBRed. Olympic Arms doesn't count and neither does any cast 1980s crap." Should I really be concerned about this? The only thing I have ever noticed about my receiver is it will only "drop free" Colt magazines. Everything else I pull out. (I assumed this was normal.)
  8. That is HILARIOUS!!! Not only did I LOL... I printed the sucker off!!! BWahahahaaha!!!!!
  9. I also noticed the "Mark all threads as read" button is gone when you view "Today's Posts". And not to be all negative... The upgrades look great! Just going to take me a little time to figure everything out.
  10. ... and chicks dig guys that shoot it, over guys that shoot .38 super. (but that is a given... )
  11. *Cough*... *Cough*... Mac... *Cough*
  12. Also there is the bottle neck design which helps in feeding.
  13. None for HK's listed... Figures... if they did it would cost $69.99, you could only get it from HK, and you'd have to wait a month before you could get it. LOL!
  14. It would be nice if HK would start producing Semis here in the US. I had read they are opening a plant here... but I think only the HK45, and HK45 compact are scheduled to be produced there. (for now) *I could be wrong though...
  15. I don't think it hurts a business the least to add to the label if it has been "cloned", or "signifigantly genetically altered". I'm in printing... when the nutrition labels became norm we didn't see the cost past down to the buyer because there was almost no cost. Labels are printed every hour in America. [sarcasm] If anything it "spured" the economy by having labels redesigned to make room for the nutritional facts. [/sarcasm] If you leave it up to big business (who hold no loyality to any nation, or people for that matter) and are looking to increase the profit anyway they can... then yeah... I think government regulation is the way to go. Some will argue that a company has nothing to gain by putting food out there that is harmful because it cuts into their profits in the long run. While that sounds logical on the surface, ethics are the first casualty in the race to be competative and profitable. The truth is (IMHO) that the consumer's voice is easily silenced by huge multi-national corporations that have the money and the influence to manipulate policies. While I agree that consumers should express their concerns at the cash register... food is not a commodity that you can just "research" before you buy. It's a necessity for life. You shouldn't have to make a list of what you want to buy and spend a couple of hours online to see if it is "cloned" meat. Simply because Tyson doesn't want to add a 1"x1" square on the packaging, and has the money to lobby against it. If I don't like where a hammer is made, or how it is made I can simply not buy it... food, I believe, is a different thing all together. Why are the large corporations against it? Because if two packs of chicken were presented to you... and one has a sticker saying "Genetically altered" or "Cloned"... more people will buy the one without the sticker. Without stickers... the consumer will not see a price difference and will not know of the difference. The large companies will pocket any money saved in cloning and use it to add to their profits. I'm sure Tyson has a stack of scientific papers stating no harmful effects from "cloned" meat. The same way big tobacco had stacks of scientific papers stating nicotine wasn't harmful or addictive back in the 50's. (Again IMHO) They want cloning because they see a cost savings and more profits.... but they see "stickers" as a way of "tainting" (pun intended) there product causing them to have to reduce the prices top make them more attactive to consumers and better able to compete against non-altered meat. Anyhoo... just my two cents... Sorry this went on so long. (I also reserve the right to completely change my opinion on this subject at anytime, in the opposite direction. )
  16. I've hunted Catoosa (Genesis Section) with my Brother-in-law about five years ago. I think I hunted it for about 4-5 times on quota hunts. Saw plenty of signs. But they always stayed ahead of me. Jumped a few deer, but always does though. They are there though.
  17. I've always wanted to be able to stroll up to someone and casually say... "Hi. I'm Mike... I fly jets." I think it would be more dashing than "Hi. I'm Mike... I working in printing... are you going to eat the rest of that?"
  18. I've thought of getting a 9mm plicker myspelf. Usually the idea creeps in everytime I buy a box of .357 sig.
  19. Ahhhhhh... perrrrfect. Soon everyone will own pistols in .357 sig. And then... then... ammo prices will drop! I hope, I hope, I hope!
  20. I work in the Printing Industry, in premedia (formally called pre-press) hearding cats.
  21. Drawing, Backpacking, Reading, Macs... and hanging out with the family.
  22. I shot two mags through a Glock 33 (Sub Compact) a while back, and had heard that the recoil was something to figure in... but for it was fine. Very manageable, and controlable. Since I have given a lot of thought about it, and the 32. Love my USPc in .357, just a little blocky. (*Take into account that I am a small framed whimpy guy... who likes ABBA. )
  23. Gald you beat it Frank. (& Sagebrushjim!) We need more people able to beat that stuff. Lost my Mom and Dad to the "C".
  24. Dmark... that is awesome!
