  1. But.... I've had three Charters and I wouldn't have given them to my worst enemy. Timing was off after less than 50 rounds on two of them and the third locked up and I couldn't even swing out the cylinder.
  2. I've had S&W, Rugers and Taurus 357's. (I have a revolver problem.) I honestly could not tell the difference between function in any of them. In fact the Taurus locked up tighter when the hammer was back than any of them. Probably had at least 300 or 400 rounds down each. And I had always been a S&W only guy and just bought the Taurus as an after thought.
  3. Yeah I just spilled 3/4 of a bottle of Hoppes #9 on my tile floor. I've got the fan running venting the room but is there anything that I can use to clean the floor? It's slick as snot and getting in the grout.
  4. I'm placing my order tonight. I'll post a review when I get to mess with them
  5. I don't know. Any coyote worth his salt can get hold of a gun. Whether it be a straw purchase from a sympathetic human or a back alley deal on the streets, they'll find them. Plus they run in packs the like the crips and bloods and are constantly practicing tactics. Never know when you'll be surrounded by a bunch of gun-toting 'yotes. Nothing to take lightly.
  6. That's where it's always five o'clock!
  7. Did a little checking on that and it looks like quality stuff. I specifically want this for unarmed defense that I can practice at home. I plan on taking the CIS advanced concealed carry class this spring if I can for armed encounters. Has any actually used the Jim Grover combative series? I'd like to hear a 1st hand report
  8. China: U.S. arms sales to Taiwan hurt national security - Yahoo! News What is everyone's take on this? I'm fairly conflicted and have been trying to get a better understanding. On one hand I want to say that the Taiwan-China rift is none our business and that by promising support if they are ever invaded has locked us into something that we don't want. Why would we go to war over Taiwan? On the other hand I see it as the leverage tool that I think our govt does. China has been backing our enemies with weapons for years and is the main reason we can't level harsher sanctions and actions against N. Korea and Iran. By supplying Taiwan with more it ups the ante in China not making a move. Same as the Russians did to us in Cuba and as we did to them in Afghanistan. Now they are threatening sanctions against the private companies involved in the transactions and have suspended military talks. Have we shot ourselves in the foot or have we made a smart tactical move? Also why is there not more coverage of this?
  9. You should take a short video of the process next time. That's pretty cool
  10. I open carry daily with my two 45LC SA's on the hip and usually have two bandoliers of extra ammo making an X across my chest.
  11. I spend way to much time there when I start looking. Now I have to look again. Thanks. I'm supposed to be writing a paper.
  12. Very true. My wife teaches high school lit and taught her students that one. I ended up reading it and really enjoyed it.
  13. This one is great.
  14. Been reading up on him and it sounds like crap. But.. is there anything out there along these lines that does work decently?
  15. Has anyone ever tried this or anything like it? Captain Chris Close Combat Training - Self Defense & Mixed Martial Arts Techniques & Moves, Black Belt & Military Army Training, Street Fighting Tips, Books & DVD. It's on sale for $59 right now. I've never had any training and right now because of school and finances I can't take any real classes. If not this one does anyone have any recommendations? I just want to learn some real basics for both me and my wife that we can learn at home.
  16. My first handgun was a Hi-Point 9mm and it never let me down. I'd bet I had 5000 rounds through mine before I sold it. And with the lifetime warranty that's hard to beat. If you're looking for a one to be used and abused thats a good choice for an auto. If I was in your shoes I would get a good snub nose 357 or 38. Rat shot in those would take care of the snakes and the 357 would make a good backup gun for the hogs or home defense. You can find used Taurus or Rossi snubs for $250 to $300. Hard to beat the reliability of a good revolver.
  17. I ordered one today for my PT145 after hearing the hype. I've had several Supertucks and love them. This is a much better price and way more adjustable. I can't wait to get it in.
  18. hahaha It's electrified for theft prevention.
  19. Now I'll post
  20. That's pretty interesting. You are right and usually the cordite stuff is more reliable. Also noticed that I had less residue in the barrel when it was time to clean. I think what I had was Pakistani manufacture.
  21. That's what I needed to hear. I'll call my local shop and see if they can get me one in.
  22. I've got a few from Sportsman's guide over the years and they've done real well for me. They're very nice for the price. That's whats on my varmint upper
  23. Yeah I wasn't too excited about the battery life or ouput of the X2. I checked out Streamlight and saw the TLR-3. Would that still fit on a subcompact like my PT145?
  24. Seriously? I grew up watching Andy Griffith just like my Dad did and my kids will. That show is timeless
