I'm in for a 2day carbine. I watched the trailer to their new vid, very nice.

I have about 500 rounds of FMJ through mine and 100 rounds of +p defense loads without one single malfunction. This gun is awesome and I would buy another in a heartbeat. As a matter of fact, I think I may just go do that.....

Is joining a survival group a good idea or bad idea
Climber replied to a topic in Survival and Preparedness
Not a good idea unless you are already tight with the members. Regardless, if it goes down in a good ole total SHTF/ TEOTWAWKI / zombies are everywhere scenario, how long will any of us last? It's a crapshoot. Prep as best you can and don't sweat the other stuff. Going it alone will not buy you a lot of time but signing up with a bad lot will end about the same. -
+1. I recently purchased my second AR and spent WAY too much time researching. I wanted a top quality AR with a top-notch barrel and ended up going with a Noveske. I had a Bushmaster and it works great but was looking for a mid-length upper and I could not be happier with my decision. My second on the list was a colt and was closely followed by the Smith M&P. I have heard nothing but good things about the Smith and their customer service on this rifle is supposed to be great. Reality check: In all likelihood, if you are not running your rifle hard, nearly any off the shelf mil-spec rifle will perform nicely. If price is a concern, you will probably be happy with either of your choices but I would opt for the Smith.

Prentice is not really that bad. I go there about once per week and usually have the entire place to myself. I've never seen any sketchy people or idiots out there. Although, I'm on the waiting list for CRC. Anyone want to sponsor me????

Thanks fellas! That is a great article!!!! I just got this puppy last night and I'm itching to get out to the range today. I have a few hundred rounds of Greek ammo so I can at least let the boomstick bark a few times.

Anybody got any tips for a new Garand owner? Powder type/loads, primers and bullets? I have heard (maybe incorrectly) to NOT use regular large rifle primers due to potential slam firing. Any truth to that? Thanks for the help!

My advice would be to hold on to the pistolas. They are good quality and will only appreciate with time. Furthermore, these were your pops so the sentimental value is worth a lot more than an extra few hundred bucks in the wallet. BUT, if you really need to sell, go check out gunbroker.com and see what they are fetching in the market. Good luck with your decision.

I have a Kahr Pm9 and it fits the mini-tuck (but barely). Doubt the XD would pull it off but who knows. The fully size supertuck is really not that much bigger so I don't think it will too much of an issue getting the full size. I always carry in appendix position and love it. It does not print at all and I can get a faster draw from that position. Experiment and find out what works best for you.

Looks like an old college gal I woke up next to after drinking too many bottles of Mad Dog.

They are an incredible value. Accuracy is top notch and they are a solid rifle. I have the heavy fluted barrel 112BVSS and it shoots Rem core-lokt 1/2MOA at 100yrds. I have not tried hand loads in it yet but I'm guessing it will shoot tighter than I'm capable of doing.

I have 50 rounds of .38 special brass + 34 rounds of .40 brass.

I had a similar thing happen to me yesterday Rightwinger. I was holding out for something with at least 20" beams. I had just let a decent 6 and 8 pointer walk when I hear something off to my right. I saw a nice buck about 80 yards away and he looked like a keeper without me putting my scope on him. I put the scope on him and thought I had a new state record. I steadied my savage .30-06 and squeezed off a round and dropped him in his tracks. When I walked up to him, his horns had miraculously shrunk but a good buck nonetheless. He had 18.5" beams and weighed 185lbs. Not bad for a 3 year old buck. He would have been a hoss in a few more years. Good luck everyone! My year is starting off good.

I'll take the 45 brass. Thanks!

I love my PM9 and it is my EDC. 500 rounds with zero issues. I also have the Nemesis holster which practically disappears in a pair of baggy jeans or khakis. If I'm wearing tighter fitting dress clothes, I wear a Crossbreed mini-tuck. The mini-tuck is a great IWB holster for this weapon!

I have been loosely following this unfold but had no idea of the impact signing the treaty would have on our constitution. Anyone else see this?

+1 If we are ever forced to go down the road of bartering, then I would be highly hesitant to trade anyone (other than family) for ammo. It could and probably will be used against you down the road. Better off to prep you and your family for the most likely situations and have enough preps to help out your family and close friends.
-
+1. It is easy for use to get sucked into the "I need more ammo and preps" but if it truly ever gets REALLY bad, we are all screwed and only a few will make it. I'm planning on being one of the few so buy it cheap and stack it deep.

Sta-bil is supposedly good for a year or two max. For longer term storage, you may want to look at Pri-G. +1 on the metal cans and don't forgot to rotate the stock.

Great post Ralph. Sounds like your pops was a great patriot.

Official "What are you carrying today?" Thread

Kahr PM9 in front pocket with Nemesis holster. Lovin' the 9mm goodness. -
Thanks for the info. I have a Kimber Pro-Carry that needs the ejector tweaked and I'm too much of a sissy to mess with it. No failures but out of a 50 rnd box I will have roughly 4 spent cases come back and whack me in the forehead. I'm not limp wristing and it happens with Wilson 47D and Kimber mags. By the way, just had Robar put a NP3 coat on her. It is friggin awesome. Needs little oil and shows almost no holster wear.

Agree 100%. Just bought a PM9 a few weeks ago and after several hundred rounds mine has been flawless. Fits nicely in a nemesis pocket holster. Couldn't be happier.

Thanks. Looks like I need to go for a visit to HG.

Anyone have a recommendation for a GOOD 1911 Smith in the Chatt area? I'm willing to drive a bit if needed. Thanks
