1.
I lived in Chicago for 4 years and managed to survive that time without being attacked. I had friends who were mugged and the one thing they all had in common was a lack of situational awareness. Walk with a purpose and give the appearance that you are a hard target. pay attention to where you are and who is around you. Keep your head up and eyes moving. I'm a little guy but I walk like I'm 7' tall. Seems to work. There are plenty of appethetic, emo hipsters in Chicago that are ripe for robbing. Don't be like them and you'll be fine. Off topic: Have you considered Portland Oregon? Coolest city I've lived in and the state is gun friendly.
Excuse me, but the "it's never happened to me before" argument is bogus. Maybe it never will, but just because it hasn't yet doesn't mean it's not possible. This is the irrational thinking that the antis use to justify their fear of guns. "I've never needed one (and by extension I never will)". It means nothing. SA is well and good, and is a necessary element in one's overall personal safety, but just because someone practices it does not immunize them from deadly threats. I've never needed my gun before, but does that mean I never will? No.
2. He also co-starred with Sylvester Stallone in "Cliffhanger". Good film.
3.
Hey man, that's BHO's town. He's yer man, so he'll protect you and all, eh? - OS
And buy yer gas, too!!
4. Why in blazes does Civil Constructors send their entire fleet of dump trucks out on the interstate during rush hour traffic? Geeeeezzzzz!!
5. What is it with people who can't drive at a steady speed or judge the speed of the person in front of them? I get so tired of goobers who make bad traffic worse by tailgating and then having to slam on the brakes, causing a chain reaction because the person following them is also too close, which disrupts the flow of traffic. And what is up with people who speed up when you are passing them??
6. I hope they both lose their permits and their right to own a gun. Asshats!!
7. He was within his constitutional rights to protect himself in his own home. He crossed the line when he went from self-defense to murder.
8. I think Daryl can take them all with one hand tied behind his back. He's that good.
9.
There is no greater gift than Brut and a pocketknife...
I personally prefer Hai Karate myself.
10. I read an article not long ago from a credible source that warned tourists to stay away from Chicago. Even some on the Chicago police force were issuing warnings. People were being robbed and beaten in areas once thought to be safe, like the Magnificent Mile and Navy Pier. My MIL wanted to go back in the spring, but we ended up going to New England instead. Didn't hurt my feelings one bit.
11. I sure wish I knew what in the heck you guys are talking about...
12. I've been carrying C1 for years. Never had a ND. Wonder what I'm doing wrong?
13.
I with DaveTN. I would like to hear the whole story. You're not gonna get that from EyeMissedIt news.
What do you think really happened? I mean, it sounds pretty cut and dried to me. Sure, there were vehicles being urinated on, but did he really think the 3 year old was doing it?
14. Here we go with the "faster is better" argument, with no consideration to weight, unless someone has found a way to negate the laws of physics.
15.
A revolver doesn't have enough rounds for me to consider carrying one. It would use fine motor skills to chamber a revolver. I carry an XD as well. It cracks me up that so many 1911 guys believe in having it cocked with the safety on while looking down on an XD in condition 3. In a defensive situation, I'll have mine ready to fire before the 1911 guy will.
Keep telling yourself that....
16. “He is disappointed with the city because he put his life on the line for the city every day,” attorney Jarrod Leaman said. Sorry, but this is no justification for being stupid.
17. At the end of the day, these types of threads only lead to one thing.
18. I've been carrying C1 every day for a long time now. M&P45c with no external safety. Wonder why I've never had a ND?
19. For a long time, I had myself fooled into believing that C3 carry was safer. Since we just had Thanksgiving, I'm adding to my list that I'm thankful for people who cared enough about me to show me why I was wrong. Every time, without fail, that I have asked a qualified instructor how to carry a firearm, 100% have said, "Condition 1". BTW, can't help but notice that ole Daryl carries that crossbow in C1.....
20. If it's safe for you to carry around other people without fear of a ND, I don't know why carrying around children would be any different. I have sister who is opposed to concealed/open carry, and for some strange reason she is even more opposed when it comes to her grandchildren. I've never been able to understand why. So, I just carry concealed when I'm around them. No one knows I have it on me. So far my weapon has not gone insane, unholstered itself and gone on any murderous shooting sprees.
21. How about we compare people on welfare in red and blue states?
22. Glad to hear this. Although I am on the other side of Franklin, it sounds as though it will be worth the short drive to check this out. And it's not a bad thing that he'll give 'ol Tom over at Lock, Stock and Barrel some competition.
