1. I'm one of those people who can't stand the car buying experience. I'd rather drive one till the wheels fall off than deal with some of those people. I have bought three vehicles at Carmax and had a great experience every time. The last three have been bought from family members who wanted to trade for new vehicles although their old ones had plenty of life left in them and were in excellent shape. Plus they took the hit on the first year depreciation, not me.
 2. Last week I went to the range to get some trigger time with my M&P45c and 9c just to make sure that everything works the way it's supposed to. When I got home, I loaded up the 45 with SD ammo, but I couldn't top two of the mags off. They hold 8 rounds, but I simply couldn't get that last one in. They weren't a problem before I went to the range, and I had no problem getting them loaded to capacity while I was shooting. The other two 45 mags were no problem. Just wondering what the problem might be.
 3.
Wouldn't a Felony conviction prevent him from ever owning/handling a firearm again? In opinion, the guy doesn't ever need to own another one. He has already proven without any doubt that he cannot safely handle a firearm. Dave S
Yes, because we all know that laws preventing irresponsible people from doing something actually work. Oh, wait....
 4. I can't imagine having to live with something like this for the rest of my life.
 5.
Very sad. My prayers go out to the boy's family. I too would like to see more details released. Just to help prevent this kind of thing from happening again.
I wish it were possible, but the sad truth is that this will keep happening. The only way to prevent this kind of thing is for everyone to observe the rules of gun safety. Unfortunately, some people are just undisciplined in everything that they do, which carries over into how they handle a firearm, and this is the kind of tragedy that results from it.
 6. I don't know this guy, or know his qualifications, but I thought this was a good video and the information is presented well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=sC3u9TZnSEc
 7. Leave it on the desk of an anti-gun coworker. Mucho entertainment will follow.
 8. Yeah, there's no shortage of self-appointed instructors on YouTube who have absolutely no qualification to be instructing anyone about anything, much less how to defend yourself against an intruder.
 9. Wasn't someone talking about being a Monday morning quarterback over in another thread?
 10. Don't let Gail Kerr find out that you have guns AND alcohol.
 11.
If they really wanna fire me for speaking my mind then I'm not sure I wanna work for them anyways.
That's your choice. However, I'm not sure you'll find a company that will tolerate its employees stating beliefs that are contrary to its core principles.
 12.
Sure I've read stories and stories are pretty much like assholes. Statistics are facts derived form large, scientifically conducted studies using mathematical tools and principles. Stories can make good fodder for internet forums I suppose but they make a lousy basis for substantive discussion.
Robert, please try and follow me on this - I'm not talking about statistics. I'm talking about what I have heard with my own ears and read with my own eyes. The media has a bias against those of us with permits and takes every opportunity to paint us in a bad light. So, when they find out that someone committed a crime with a handgun and that person had a valid permit, they make it a point to tell their viewers that, contrary to the conclusion earlier that no one cares whether someone who commits a crime has a permit or not. Other than that, I'm not really sure how I can make it any plainer. You and I are obviously talking about two completely unrelated things.
 13.
You said "Not true. The media is quick to point out if someone who committed a crime with a gun has a permit" I'm asking if you have stats rather than vague references to "media stories"...apparently you don't. Thanks for your concern for my happiness but it's unnecessary.
Sorry, man, but I really don't get what you're trying to say. I find it hard to believe that you haven't read one of the many stories or heard any of the many news reports on TV where it was stated that the person charged with a crime had a permit. Maybe you're just not paying attention. Have a nice day.
 14.
So you know the stats? Do you have real sources or just media stories? Can you tell us how many cases of a permit holder inappropriately shooting someone, or more specifically, a LEO at a traffic stop there has been in the U.S. in the past month? In the past year? In the past two years? In the past ten years? "Stories" that appear in news sources and/or on websites are not statistics; they're just stories....stories that may be factual or not...may be complete or not...stories that once read are probably not even remembered correctly after a short amount of time. I don't often back up DaveTN ; but I don't know of any competent or easily accessed statistics on such issues - if you know of any, I think many of us here would appreciate knowing what they are/where to find them.
I think you need to go back and read my post again in reference to what Dave was saying about no one caring whether or not someone who committed murder with a gun has a permit or not. Your post above has absolutely nothing to do with that. Read and comprehend, and stop reacting emotionally. You'll be much happier.
 15.
I think George Zimmerman may well be a racist and predatory villain, and I didn’t hear the edited version. Either this clown doesn’t listen to his attorneys, or he has the dumbest attorney’s in history.
For all we know, you may be one too. See how stupid that is?
 16. Bravo to this deputy for knowing and defending a citizen's constitutional right against a bureaucrat. https://www.youtube....&feature=g-hist Disclaimer: I am not a fan of Alex Jones and I don't listen to his radio program.
 17.
It’s easy to ask for statistics on something you know doesn’t exist. Of course there aren’t statistics on permit holders that shoot cops. When you murder a cop or anyone else, no one generally cares if you had a permit or not. I really don’t want anyone adding that to a reporting form either. I don’t want to see it abused by the press the way it would be. I don’t pretend to be living at the foot of the cross and having a permit doesn’t make it so.
Not true. The media is quick to point out if someone who committed a crime with a gun has a permit.
If Jefferson or Franklin were out here dealing with what our cops deal with, they would be disarming people when they saw the need also.
There's really no way for you to know this.
 18.
You and many people jump to assumptions about this situation. None of us where there except the OP and none of us know what the circumstances where in this interaction at all that is a fact. The Monday morning quarterback comment is for people who want to tell others how do their job after the fact. If you can do it better then get hired and do it. Just having a HCP doesn't make you a saint or even a good person believe me I've seen some people who should be in prison and gang members with a HCP. While at the same time I've known several good people and even family members that are HCP holders. I even have one myself. If you are disarmed and don't believe there was a justification then complain. But don't jump to conclusions about someone else's situation unless you where there. Now in my experience I have never disarmed a legally armed HCP holder. I give them credit due to my experience and interactions with the many I have encoutered. I don't want to disarm them just like I wouldn't want to be disarmed. But if in a situation I have articulable facts to explain I may have been in reasonable fear to disarm the person during our encounter it will be done. Hopefully that never has to happen but if it does I will do what I am legally allowed to do to ensure the safety of myself and the other person and conduct the business at hand. Now I don't assume automatically HCP holders are threats due to that fact alone they are treated like anyone else I encounter and will continue to do so unless they make the situation change.
Thanks for the explanation.
 19. My cheese omelettes wouldn't stand a chance against one of those!
 20.
The joy of Monday morning quarterbacks.
Then, as an LEO, please explain how someone who is armed and has a valid carry permit who has given you NO indication that he intends to do you harm is a threat. Have you been trained to think that all citizens are suspicious unless proven otherwise?
 21. Don't know the dimensions of the H&K USP Compact, but I have carried my M&P9c on my ankle in a Desantis Apache rig. Not the most comfortable, but doable. I don't recommend ankle carry as primary because of the increased difficulty in getting to the weapon. For back up it will do.
 22.
Anybody can assert anything they want but unfounded assertions on the internet aren't worth the electrons it takes to make them. But hey; you are entitled to your opinion...I would suggest, however, that if at some point in the future you need help because thugs are beating you up or trying to break into your home, don't bother to call for a cop since all they care about is "power and control" and have no desire to actually help people.
Now, Robert, you're being silly as usual. I didn't say that all cops care about is power and control. I was referring only to the ones who like asserting their power over the peasantry for no good reason. And don't worry about my safety if someone wants to attack me or break into my home.... I'm responsible for my safety; not the police. They won't be there in time to help me anyway.
 23.
Saying it over and over doesn't make it true.
Denying it doesn't make it false.
