  1. I hope that was the case as well. And I'm all for educating, but what I saw in the video is absolutely the wrong way to go about it. Clowning around with firearms is just plain stupid. Good for you and your wife. I wish I could get mine to see how important it is for her to be able to protect herself because I can't always be with her.
  2. What a couple of morons. Him for scaring her like that while she was holding what could have been a loaded weapon. Had she squeezed the trigger the round could have struck a neighbor or a neighbor's child. Her for not knowing what the hell she was doing. She had no business even touching the weapon. I didn't find the video funny at all.
  3. I did not say I was the only one who knew what to do. Neither did I say "everyone" was talking tough. Fact is, there are SOME here who ARE just talking tough and simply don't have a clue about how shooting someone will affect them. When someone says they will empty three mags of 10mm into the guy because he banged on his window, that's simply empty talk. And if someone is that trigger happy, they have NO business carrying a deadly weapon. You know it and I know it. SOME is not the same as EVERYONE. Please don't put words in my mouth that I didn't say.
  4. Of the two, I would personally go for the Springer, just because I don't have one.
  5. Not sure how you arrived at that conclusion because that's not what I said at all. Neither did I say that "everyone" here is full of tough talk. Did you just read into my comments what you wanted to? And your last statement is exactly the point I was making. Congratulations, chief.
  6. Yeah, lots of tough talk. It's usually different when you're faced with it.

No, they are not the same. My CCW remains on my hip when I am home, but it's only there to give me time to get to my shotgun.
  8. Frankly, there are some here who talk like BA rednecks and I don't get the impression that they have the foggiest notion of the responsibility that comes with the carry permit and the weapon. When you have nothing between you and him, no door, no glass, and there's no room to escape, and you GENUINELY FEAR FOR YOUR LIFE, then it's justified. Not just because he messed up your car. Last time I checked, you can't drop someone just because they are destroying your property. If you kill him and the police or the jury determines that you were not in imminent danger of losing your life, then get ready to say hello to Bubba in your new jail cell.

I am so amused at the thought that people actually think that under the stress of a self-defense situation, that they will remain cool, calm and collected. The truth is that your adrenaline kicks in and you LOSE your fine motor skills. All those targets you destroyed at the range in a no-stress environment? Won't happen when SHTF. So you can talk about shot placement all you want, but it's just not realistic when it's happening to you. Your accuracy is reduced dramatically. It's just insane to rely on an ineffective, weak caliber when there are so many superior choices. But it is because I don't really know how my body will react to the stress that I will NOT engage unless it is the only way to save my life. I will run or do just about anything else to avoid a deadly confrontation. Shooting is and should be the very LAST resort and I don't take it lightly.
  10. Lots of real tough talk on here. Have those of you who say you would blast the guy even thought about the aftermath and the legal implications? If you haven't, you better.
  11. This is why you don't ever let yourself get trapped at a traffic light. You ALWAYS have an escape route. If that means not being in the middle lane, then that's what you have to do. EVERY TIME. Situational awareness is not optional. Until the thug gained access to the interior of the vehicle, the driver's life was not in imminent danger. Leaving an escape route and using it would have been the most prudent course of action. I think any of you who would shoot through the window just might find yourself up on a murder charge. Never underestimate the stupidity or ignorance of the 12 who will judge you.
  12. Glad to hear it!

Yes, I will argue it till I take my last breath. The reasons not to carry a .380 far outnumber the reasons to carry it. It's just simply a weak SD round, no two ways about it. PF9 accomplishes the same thing. Just as thin, so there really isn't any reason to settle for the weak .380 round. Besides, ANY handgun can be concealed, you just have to know how to dress around it. I don't know about you, but I really don't want to be that close to the attacker. You want to get sprayed with HIV positive blood? Not me.
  14. Holsters are like anything else; you get what you pay for. Expect to pay $50 at least for a good IWB holster.

Why do you have to carry a larger weapon? There are service caliber weapons available in pocket size. The illogic of carrying a .380 totally escapes me.

    Bingo.
  17. I had one and sold it when I learned that .380 sucks as a defensive round. I also had a catastrophic failure when I was breaking it in at the range. Sent it back to the factory but could never trust it again after that. Get a PF9 instead. Not much bigger and a much more effective weapon for about the same price. Plus, women seem to have a harder time chambering a round with the P3AT. My wife never could do it.

Sorry, I still don't get it...
  19. Is your objective to kill or to stop the fight?
  20. Is that the same thing as "pulling rank"?
  21. Very nice weapon; it will serve you well. Congratulations!
  22. We all need to put our big boy pants on now...
  23. .380 was referenced in another post. Just don't want to see anyone make a decision that they may regret.
  24. Ruger SP101 in .357 is my outdoor weapon of choice.
  25. Go with a 9mm or a .45. Don't waste your time or money on the .380.
