Not really sure what you consider "CCW Badge bashing", but why does anyone think that a badge would make the slightest bit of difference to someone who is scared at the sight of a weapon? A CCW badge carries no authority or credentials of any kind and there is no way I would ever waste my money on one. It means nothing. Someone came up with the idea because they knew people who will spend money on anything would buy one.

I think the new Kias are very handsome. I have been looking for a replacement vehicle for my wife's minivan, and am considering the Optima.

For home defense, .357 over the 9mm any day of the week.

This is where torture would be justified. -
EXTREMELY disappointing encounter with someone with a badge

I can't stand cops who think everyone should bow down to their "AUTHORITAH", just because they have a badge. -
I feel yer pain, brother. I have seven of them next door (sausage dogs) who bark constantly, and the owners will do nothing about them. I have considered nefarious solutions, but can't bring myself to do any of them.

According to their own statement, the Census Bureau cannot fine you more than $100 if you refuse to answer any of the questions on the form. And seeing as how I only answered the first one and the one about gender, I think I will take my chances. None of the other information is any of their business, never mind that Uncle Sam has it anyway. They can look it up; I'm not doing their work for them. I have also printed the Bureau's own statement about it so I can read it to any worker that shows up at my door (I seriously doubt that they will be familiar with it), but I doubt that I will be getting a visit.

That's a beautiful 1911 and I would take that over a pocket gun any day of the week. With the right clothing and holster you can conceal that just as well as ANY pocket gun.

Where does the stereotype come from?

I'm not nearly as interested in whether or not someone likes guns as I am in whether or not they support the Second Amendment. Ask Harry Reid if he's in favor of open carry. His answer will tell you if he's really a Second Amendment supporter. If someone says he "supports the Second Amendment, but....." then he doesn't. -
I know several people who pocket carry the PPS and/or sub compact Glocks with no problems.

As a former Scout leader, I have done my fair share of researching camping and backpacking gear (and even using it sometimes!). Before buying any tent, I would make sure that it has taped seams and a full fly, and even then I would apply some extra sealer after I bought it. Otherwise it will be flooded if you get caught in a rainstorm.

But then, if I felt like I needed to carry a gun when I went out I would just stay home.

Well, poultry IS better for you than beef. Just sayin'....

Where does the stereotype come from?
daddyo replied to -boatman-'s topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The moonbats on the left are simply too intellectually lazy to engage in mature, thoughtful debate. They would much rather launch personal attacks because it requires no thought and it makes them feel superior. They think it is funny, but their extreme anti-social behavior is indicative of some latent unresolved emotional issues, manifesting itself as hoplophobia. But it doesn't come entirely from the left. There are wolves in sheep's clothing in the middle and on the right who pretend to support the Second Amendment and gun ownership, but give themselves away when they begin their position with "I support the Second Amendment, but....". -
First LEO encounter while carrying

You mean you've seen it?? -
Too much ammo is ALWAYS better than not enough.

The SW9VE is DAO. It is not a SA firearm.

Three things: 1. Get over yourself 2. Lose the self-righteous 'tude 3. Grow a thicker skin Oh, and don't let the door hit ya on the way out...

I have some New York transplants next door to me. The husband is ex LEO (or so he claims) and is now in the home inspection business. They had two pre-teen sons and a teenage daughter at the time they bought the house. The first time I met him there was just something about him I didn't like. Couldn't put my finger on it, just knew I didn't like him. But I tried to be neighborly and just keep my distance. They think that dogs are people, and they have had several German Shepherds in the 16 or so years that they have been next door. The problems started with the dogs and just went downhill from there. When the sons entered their last two years of high school, all hell broke loose. They started having parties about once a month that gradually turned into every weekend. Loud music, cars coming in and out, even driving through my yard, people standing outside and talking loudly, even yelling and screaming until 3 am, with as many as 50-60 kids there. The parents were home all this time. I would call them and ask them to turn it down and they would send the two idiot sons down to "apologize" but then they would be right back at it the next weekend. The morning after I would find beer bottles and cans, liquor bottles, and cigarette butts all in my yard. Mind you, I am their closest neighbor, so I got the full effect of their clattering. Their defense was that I was "the only one complaining". It finally got so bad I started calling the sheriff. They would come out, talk to them, basically do nothing, and leave. It would usually break up the party, however, because they were all underage. I have no idea if there were ever any arrests made. Well, they didn't like me calling the law. The youngest punk son would come down and ring my doorbell at 2am and want to talk to me. I tried reasoning with him one time, and the next time he did it I told him that from then on he was trespassing and I would have him arrested. Luckily for him, I was not carrying at the time, nor did I have any loaded weapons in the house. Otherwise he would have been looking down the barrel of a 12 gauge. He never came onto my property again, and the father left a message on my answering machine wanting to know why I was "harassing" him. Unbelievable. When Comcast came out to install my cable service, he had to go up in their yard to access the utility pole, and both the father and the idiot son came out and started threatening him. The father spit on him, and I couldn't convince the technician to press charges, so he got away with it. The father is certifiable, and I am armed every time I go outside. I hope he has enough sense to never come onto my property. The noise has stopped, but we are obviously not on speaking terms. I have always tried to get along with my neighbors, but he and his family of morons have made it impossible to do that. I don't like being at odds with my neighbors, but sometimes it's unavoidable.

I believe someone needs to take his own advice... I mean, really, dude.

My thoughts exactly. I don't buy "her" story for a minute. And how did "she" know about Gunbroker?
-
No one here is a member of AAA? I'm calling them to bring me some gas while I stay with her and the kids. No way I would leave her there, gun or no.
-
Sounds like you're not going to change her mind, so why even bother with it? Is it about making someone else look like a fool, or are we as responsible gun owners going to rise above the pettiness and educate the uneducated and prove to them that we are not the bad guys?

Why some people shouldn't be police officers
daddyo replied to saintsfanbrian's topic in General Chat
Giving someone the finger only escalates the situation. Had it turned into a physical altercation, I'm betting that you would have been held partially responsible. It just simply isn't worth it. Far too many people don't check their side and rear view mirrors and have no clue what's going on around them. When I see one of these morons bearing down on me, I simply get over and let him go around. I'd much rather have him in front of me than behind me.
