  1. Forgive me for saying so, but your ballistic knowledge is just as poor as your knowledge of carrying for self-defense. Mouseguns are ineffective as self-defense weapons where stopping the threat is concerned. I don't have time for the bad guy to bleed out if he's intent on shooting back at me. I intend to preserve my own life if I am ever in a SD shooting. I never said my intent was to preserve the attacker's. How you arrive at that conclusion is beyond my comprehension. The concept of shooting to stop the threat vs. shooting to kill really isn't difficult. If you'd get your emotions out of the way and your blinders off you'd see that. Nothing personal.
  2. If I shoot, the intent is to stop the threat. It is NOT synonymous with taking someone's life. Period. What training have you had? I want to avoid it at all costs.
  3. It happens all the time. If a judge is willing to hear the case, then it will go to court.
  4. I vote for the M&P9c. I love mine so much I bought a 45c and am chomping at the bit to get it to the range.
  5. Absolutely, unequivocally incorrect. You should not be carrying a weapon.
  6. Deadly force is justified in a real life self defense situation (where you fear for your life). But someone who thinks that they MUST kill the attacker to survive needs to re-evaluate their reasons for carrying. If the attacker flees when I draw my weapon, then I have stopped the threat. If he continues his attack, and I fire and put him down, then I have neutralized the threat regardless of whether he lives or not. But if one keeps shooting after the threat has been stopped, then that's murder, plain and simple.
  7. What's stupid about it? How is the question not legitimate? And, if your primary objective is to shoot to kill, then you really don't need to be carrying.
  8. I was going on two points you made. You said that guns were designed to kill. You also said that your objective was to kill in a self-defense situation. Not really sure how I could take that out of context.
  9. I didn't word this to backfire in anyone's face. What's different about this thread, and someone's comment in another thread that his objective is to kill?
  10. My objective is to stop the threat, not to kill. If the attacker dies as a result, that's unfortunate, but it is not my intent. I intend to make it home. If he surrenders without firing, then I have accomplished my objective of stopping the threat, and I didn't kill to do it. The reason I started this thread is because I have heard some disturbing things regarding people's willingness to kill someone. I agree that you have to do whatever is necessary, but for the objective to be "to kill" leaves little room for anything else.
  11. No, they are not. If your intent is to kill, then what if the BG gives up? Are you still going to shoot to kill? Doesn't his surrender qualify as stopping the threat?
  12. That's understood. I'm talking about your immediate objective that involves your life.
  13. There's a difference in disregarding whether or not the person lives and shooting with the intent to kill. Big difference.
  14. Sorry, but I take serious issue with your statement. Guns are designed to SAVE LIVES. And your objective in a self-defense shooting should be to STOP THE THREAT, not to kill. Maybe in military combat, but not in a civilian defense shooting. No freakin' way. A jury finds out that your objective was to kill, and you're going to be getting to know your cell mate Bubba really well.
  15. I'm going to start growing my own food and producing my own goods and services. Problem solved...

  19. There will always be folks who don't give a ****. They don't matter. What matters is that we have a President who takes every opportunity to wipe his ass with the Constitution.

    Small carry Handgun

I put a minimum of 200 rounds through every weapon I buy and I won't carry it till I do. I want to be sure it will do the job when and if I ever need it to.
