    Which 1911 and why?

Isn't that a bit like saying that if Henry Ford wanted other parts he would have invented the Model T that way? Technology changes things.
  2. Got to see a launch many years ago. It still rates as one of the top 5 most impressive things I have ever seen.
  3. I don't see the need to change my carry weapon with the weather. Summer, winter, spring or fall, I'm carrying either a Ruger SP101 or S&W M&P9c (both OWB) with a 442 in the pocket as a BUG. As soon as my K&D Thunderbird Defender gets here in July I will be carrying the M&P45c that I bought about 2 weeks ago year round. If you dress around the gun you shouldn't have to change what you carry because of the weather.

    New Summer Gun

Well done. The Kahr is the better choice of the two. If it were me though, I would move up to a 124 gr round.
  6. I have to believe that how you OC and how you dress also plays a part in how people respond. If you carry on the belt in a leather or kydex holster, dress halfway professionally, are relatively clean cut, and don't have mega tattoos showing, people would be less inclined to see you as a threat. If, however, you look like you have been in the woods for a month, unshaven, dirty, and wearing tactical gear with a drop holster, then you shouldn't be surprised if someone calls the po-po.
  7. Even though I have yet to see anyone OCing in TN, I hear stories like this all the time, with either no one noticing, or no one being concerned. It seems that this is the typical reaction over the speculation that the cops are going to be called, people running for cover, etc.
  8. Cool! Just curious though, can you share with the rest of us how is it you are able to conceal what many consider a full size handgun (What type of holster are you using and what style of clothing are you wearing?) There may be some who are convinced that it's not possible.
  9. Well, we all have a tendency to praise those who are able to put succinctly into words what we are thinking. I do the same thing.
  10. Danny Kaye was a true American treasure.
  11. This can happen to any diabetic regardless of how well you maintain your glucose levels. My son is Type 1 and has infrequent episodes of low sugar.
  12. That makes me wish I still had my Fireball XL5 lunch box.
  13. I love my 2-1/4" SP101 and carry it frequently in a Simply Rugged Silver Dollar Pancake holster.
  14. Let's see, $100 vs. $5,000? I'd say that's a pretty big mistake, or the person doing the training was lying.
  15. That is incorrect. I have the document on my door that states no more than $500 fine for not turning in the form at all; no more than $100 for an incomplete form.
  16. Man, I sure hate to see you drill holes in that beautiful holster, but, if you must, you must. Just curious, what handgun does that holster fit?
  17. Not a single person here has said that their objective is to shoot to wound. You are reading something into the thread that simply is not there, sir. And you are simply wrong in your assertion that "every" instructor teaches to shoot to kill. Clint Smith of Thunder Ranch is one who does not. He advocates stopping the threat, not "shooting to kill", as does every instructor who truly understands self-defense. Just as in martial arts, all you should be concerned with is disabling the attacker. As has been said before, if the attacker dies as a result, then he dies.
  18. I was in the Ooltewah/Collegedale Walmart a week and a half ago, and it looked like they had removed all handgun ammo. It used to be in a locked case behind the sales counter, but it's gone. All I saw on a nearby shelf was shotgun ammo.
  19. If it's a nice holster, don't screw with it. Just buy a Comp-Tac if that is what you want.
  20. Anyone here knowledgeable about health care insurance for an unemployed 21-yr old with Type 1 diabetes, or do you know anyone who is knowledgeable? His coverage under my wife's plan will end June 1 because he has elected not to return to school in the fall. Just trying to figure out what his options are. Thanks.
  21. I would love to open carry on my property, and I often do inside the house. But I have neighbors who would call the police and say I was brandishing and threatening them, so it's best for me not to when I'm outside. Monkeylizard, so sorry your house flooded. I hope that things are back to normal for you as soon as is possible.
  22. Mexifornia can't slide into the ocean fast enough for me.
  23. Gives me chest pains just lookin' at it...
  24. No regrets here...
  25. Thanks for leaving me one! Maybe I can return the favor one day!
