  1. Or as my dad says, when you're 87 years old, there's no such thing as an ugly girl.
  2. I emailed the nitwit who wrote the article, asking if he thought the question accurately represented the issue, and here is what he replied: "I think the pollsters were trying to word the question so that it was fair and succinct. I have no problem with the question, and none of the respondents that I interviewed was unaware of the points you raised (those points being no mention of someone with an HCP not being able to drink while carrying, and that the owner has the choice to ban firearms from his place of business by posting a sign). After two years of discussion over this issue, I think people are pretty well informed on the law." He ended with "Sometimes it's easier to change the facts than people's opinions.", referring to my comment that "apparently facts don't count anymore, just hysteria and irrational fears" What a tool.
  3. I'm one of those weirdos who actually likes the matte finish on my UC9. It has a certain "used but effective" look to it. The changes introduced with the Pro model were: Loaded chamber indicator Picatinny rail Polygonal rifling (which improved accuracy)
  4. My mistake; I just read it wrong.
  5. I'm confused; did you shoot the 9mm or the .45?
  6. Agreed... I find it just as easy to carry concealed OWB as I do IWB and generally more comfortable.
  7. Yes, thank you. I forgot to mention that and I found out the hard way on my HiPoint 995. Some of the internals are coated with black paint and the brake cleaner immediately stripped them of the paint. But on non-painted polymer and metal, it's good stuff.
  8. Whatever works for you. Personally, I use dechlorinated brake cleaner to clean and Mobil 1 synthetic to lube. Works like a charm for me.
  9. Yep. Gotta be careful. There's always someone somewhere who will take things the wrong way and try to punish you.
  10. Last time I bought .45 ammo was at Walmart in Cool Springs - 250 round pack for $85.
  11. Absolutely not. That will get you in a whole heap 'o trouble that you don't want. You should do anything and everything to avoid a confrontation. He would have to press it to the point of threatening you so that you were actually in fear of your life. You NEVER draw your weapon unless you intend to use it.
  12. Guess you don't have a problem with a car dealer selling a previously titled automobile as new?
  13. Even if they told him that his guns were only worth $10, it was his responsibility to know what they were worth before he ever set foot in the store. No, they should NOT take advantage of him, but the ultimate responsibility rests with the SELLER.
  14. Let's cast blame where it's due. The gun shop didn't force the man to come in and sell his guns. He should have done his homework if he wanted a fair price for them. If he and whoever he was dealing with agreed on a price, then it is a legitimate business deal. If he didn't feel like he was getting a decent deal, he had the freedom to just walk away. I don't see the problem here.
  15. It was either this one or Salt yesterday afternoon. After reading some great reviews, Inception won out and it turned out to be the right decision. The wife and I both thoroughly enjoyed it. GREAT story line and edge-of-your-seat action, especially the second half. VERY intense film. Saw Shutter Island not too long ago. DiCaprio is quickly becoming one of my favorites.
  16. Bad guy points a gun at someone, I assume he is going to use it. Deadly force justified. That said, if my family is with me and I can get them out, I'm getting out. If it's just me, and I have a clear shot, I'm taking the guy out.

Jeff Quinn never met a gun he didn't like!!
  18. Well, lookit - we're all ignorant about something. I couldn't carry on an intelligent conversation about jet propulsion if I tried. If the guy is open to learning, then teach him.
  19. Not to be combative, but I am suspicious of anyone who promotes a firearm when they are being paid by the manufacturer to do so. It's why I generally don't believe what I hear in gun shops unless I know and trust the person behind the counter. I'm perfectly capable of doing my own research and making my own decisions based on that research, which is what I believe everyone should do before they decide to put their trust in ANY weapon.

  21. Did you mean to say that there are no semi-autos chambered in .45 Long Colt?

    Ruger LCR - .357!!

Yes, you can shoot .38 Special ammo in any .357 Magnum revolver. In fact, I carry .38 +P JHPs in my Ruger SP101 .357 for reduced recoil.
  25. A guy traveling through Mexico on vacation lost his wallet and all of his identification. Cutting his trip short, he attempted to make his way home but was stopped by the U.S. Customs Agent at the border. "May I see your identification, please?" asked the agent. "I'm sorry, but I lost my wallet," replied the guy.. "Sure buddy, I hear that every day. No ID, no entry," said the agent. "But I can prove I'm an American!" he exclaimed. "I have a picture of Ronald Reagan tattooed on one side of my butt and George Bush on the other." "This I gotta see," replied the agent. With that, the guy dropped his pants and showed the agent his behind. "By golly, you're right!" exclaimed the agent. "Have a safe trip back to Chicago ." "Thanks!" he said. "But how did you know I was from Chicago ?" The agent replied, "I recognized Obama in the the middle.
