  1. What's hilarious to me are the ones who take what you say so personally that they want to meet you somewhere to "discuss it". Now, I'm not a genius, but I ain't stupid, neither.
  2. Warning shots are a myth. A determined attacker is not afraid of your gun. They are, however afraid of someone who they believe will kill them. The seasoned criminals can tell the difference.
  3. SAA is NOT a 1911. What you are talking about is an extremely dangerous way to carry a SA semi-auto. Cocked and locked or leave it at home.
  4. Are you asking this with the assumption that there is one in the chamber either way? If so: One in the pipe; safety off - NOTHING good will come of this. One in the pipe; safety on - the ONLY way to carry a 1911.
  5. So how does showing ID to pay with cash protect the proprietor? Do they write your name on the receipt along with your home address and telephone number? If not, then there's no point to asking for ID.
  6. I apologize to those who took offense at my earlier remarks. But let me reiterate to those who think carrying extra ammo and a BUG or two is somehow indicative of paranoia or some sort of "Rambo" complex - those who would deny you your right to carry make the same arguments against you for carrying a weapon at all (much less owning one). If you criticize someone for carrying a BUG or extra ammo, what differentiates your attitude from that of the anti-gunners? I've been criticized for stating that carrying a spare mag or two and a BUG should be common practice and that carrying only what you "think" you'll need is unwise. But that's fine. I'm a big boy and I have a pretty thick skin, and it doesn't make me feel the least bit stupid or guilty for carrying more than I will probably need. I like being prepared and it is my nature to overdo it just a bit in everything, which is why I don't make such a great backpacker, because I tend to take to much gear.
  7. You might want to take a look at the Hi Point carbines in 9mm and .40. I have a 9mm that is mucho fun to shoot.
  8. Awww, go ahead and say it - we're compensating for the size of our manhood, right? Or how about this one: we're just a bunch of "Rambos". You do realize that anti-gunners make the same argument about you for carrying a gun at all, don't you?
  9. Whatever you say.... Oh, and your story about taking the instructor's weapon from him and emptying it? BS on that one. If it really happened, and he had any cajones at all, you would have been looking up at the sky.
  10. No, just gave my opinion. Wasn't trying to convince anyone of anything. Usually though, people have that attitude when they don't like what you're saying. And yes, I stand by my statement that not carrying extra ammo is foolish. But that's just my opinion. Don't get in a huff about it.
  11. Guy, carry however you wish. You have your opinion and I have mine; let's just leave it at that. You won't change my mind and I won't change yours.
  12. Still doesn't make sense. The onus is on the proprietor to be able to spot counterfeit currency. Like Mike, I would have flatly refused to show my ID. That's absurd.
  13. Yeah, right. And you can only carry the weapon you qualified with. What a bunch of BS.
  14. Keep dreamin', guys.
  15. I have a '66 T Series that my dad gave me long ago. I used it to qualify for my HCP in '98. It had never been fired. I have never had any work done to it, but would like for a gunsmith to work it over a little so that it will reliably feed JHPs. I would really like to add it to my carry rotation.
  16. So... if your odds of being in a gunfight are really that small, which they are, why carry at all then?
  17. You guys make me laugh.
  18. Where do you go that you feel you DO need to be armed, then?
  19. Maybe your gun is one out of a million that is 100% reliable (Glocks have been known to have failures), but mags are notorious for failing when you need them. I'll stick with my primary and BUG, and two reloads for each. Testing the law of averages is foolhardy at best.
  20. I don't own a Glock, but from what I have read and heard from others, that's one of the main reasons for having a G23. Can't you also convert it to .357 SIG?
  21. Well, two come to mind: 1) apologizing to other nations and saying that America has been arrogant and 2) his refusal to salute the American Flag when the National Anthem is being played. Never mind that he is working as hard as he can to turn the U.S. into Europe.
  22. One of my favorite films and I watch it every time it's on cable and I'm at home. My favorite line: "I'm OK..... he's not."
  23. I don't live a lifestyle that requires carrying a weapon at all. That said, I never heard anyone who was ever in a gunfight say that they wish they had brought less ammo. Two is one, one is none. You can have "good enough". I'll take tactical redundancy.
  24. I waited two months for my Thunderbird Defender from K&D. Quality takes time. This will teach you patience, my son.
  25. LOL. I know, I remember being impressed with his reflexes when that story first made news.
