  1. It's the same logic as firing a "warning shot". It's pointless and if you're counting on it scaring the BG away, you don't understand just how desperate and determined some criminals are. If someone breaks in while I'm home, they get no warning - only 00 buck to the chest. Cocked and locked. If they don't know the sound of a shotgun safety being disengaged, they're out of luck.

    Looking for advice

As owner of an SW9VE, I can vouch for its reliability, accuracy, and concealability. What else matters? I have since bought a couple of M&Ps, and while they are my EDCs, and have given the 9VE to my son for his first weapon, but I would feel adequately protected with the Sigma and some good 147 gr JHP ammo.
  3. Omelette in a bag: Boil water in a large pot, put a little dishwashing liquid in the water. Put two or three raw eggs (or egg beaters) in a heavy duty zip lock bag, along with whatever you like in your omelette - ham, cheese, bacon, green peppers, etc. Close the bag, then mix it all up by gently squeezing the bag, then drop it in the boiling water. Boil till eggs are done. Have some tongs handy to fish it out of the water. You can eat it out of the bag if you wish. I like to put mine on a biscuit.
  4. I've never understood why someone would think they need an external safety on a DAO weapon. Maybe I'm just stupid...
  5. Welcome to TGO. We are grateful for your service to our country!
  6. My sincere condolences.
  7. You may have to go online to find what you need. I found several for my SW9VE when I was carrying it. The only thing, and you may already be fully aware of it, is that ordering online sometimes involves a significant lead time. Just last week I received my Thunderbird Defender for my SA Loaded Champion from K&D Holsters and I ordered it before Christmas. Some others that come to mind are: Don Hume Leathergoods, manufactures high quality leather and nylon goods. K&D Holsters | Custom Gun Leather and Shooting Accessories High Noon Holsters Simply Rugged Holsters And here's a page of holster links. It will keep you busy for days: Defensive Carry Holster Links Also check with a local gun shop. They can put you in touch with someone who can get you set up.
  8. Here you go: Raging Against Self Defense: A Psychiatrist Examines The Anti-Gun Mentality, By Sarah Thompson, M.D.
  9. Isn't it fun to have stupid people as relatives? In my case, it's a liberal sister and her liberal daughter. Sister told me last Christmas she didn't want me carrying in her house. I said that's fine; she won't have to worry about me setting foot in her house ever again, because I wasn't disarming. She also said she didn't want me carrying in my parents house around her grandchildren. However, it's not her house, and Dad says it's OK, so..... TOUGH TOENAILS, SIS!!!!!
  10. I've only been to the Gatlinburg Aquarium once, and I was personally unimpressed with it. The one in Chattanooga is much better.
  11. Took my wife there last fall, and carried everywhere I went. Didn't see a sign anywhere.
  12. If I want my child to have the best education possible, I will send him/her to a good private school. Public education is the bare minimum, and if you want the best, public schools aren't really an option. I don't see that changing in my lifetime or my son's.
  13. So, like any other career, it looks like it is possible to move up the ladder. One does not have to remain a teacher in the public education system if he/she does not wish to. If he/she wishes to, then their salary is a choice.
  14. But this is not ten years ago. Just looking for facts here. Besides, where is the line between underpaid and fair pay?
  15. But you said they were underpaid. Wouldn't you have to know what they make in order to make that assessment?
  16. So, what does the average teacher make in TN?
  17. I agree, but the intent of the thread was to make it look like President Reagan would have supported collective bargaining for public sector unions when there was no evidence to support that notion.
  18. No, they are not posted. I took the family there last summer after the carry bill passed (for the second time) and there were no signs. If you do a restaurant search for it on Gun Free Dining Tennessee |, you will see that they have been contacted by that organization and have decided to allow firearms.
  19. Andrew Klavan says it so much better than I ever could...
  20. Mine took every day of three months back in '96 or whenever it was, so a month is nothing.
  21. Absolutely. My experience is that those who want to carry a full size weapon have made the commitment to carry, which is what it takes.
  22. Always a good choice to move up to a service caliber.
  23. I don't believe Reagan was referring to public sector unions that feed off the taxpayers.
  24. Never had a problem with Bud's. I've called them when they were extremely busy, and just had to keep trying. Always got through to someone eventually.
  25. There's one of these in every class. I had one in mine, and when my son took his HCP class last year, there was a dude who thought he could teach the class better than the instructors. I still don't understand why they didn't just ask him to leave. As for the neon green holster, that's one of the funniest things I've seen in a while. But congrats on taking your class! We need more good guys!!
