  1. While I usually always carry IWB, I have to agree that OWB is more comfortable. But with the right clothing, I can conceal OWB just as well as I can IWB. I just have to change the way I dress a little.
  2. Sorry, I couldn't decide between the two...
  3. Practice concealed carry with your weapon of choice until you reach a comfort level that you like. At that point, it will be just like tying your shoes - no big deal.
  4. First of all, I wasn't trying to indicate that I had more training than anyone else. Every instructor I have had encourages carrying two weapons. One even encouraged carrying three if you could manage it. Secondly, I carry a primary and a backup. But I've gotten so good at concealing them, I can guarantee you that you'd never know I was carrying at all. I don't say that to brag. My point is that if I can do it, anyone can do it. All it takes is being committed to carry and to self-defense. I'm amazed at the number of folks who throw a .25 in their pocket and somehow think that they are prepared for anything. Dumbfounding to say the least. I'm done.
  5. Hey, you qualified with a caliber and gun you weren't familiar with. I'd say that's pretty darn good.
  6. Just wondering how many of the ones who frown at carrying a BUG have any SD training?
  7. Haven't been to Crockett, but used to camp at Horton quite a bit when the son and I were in scouts. They have a nice primitive camping area with facilities within walking distance. I've heard that the lodge restaurant serves a good breakfast buffet.
  8. EXACTLY.
  9. What a laugh. The same guys who criticize others for carrying a BUG don't understand when they're criticized for carrying at all. 2 guns is one; one is NONE. Q: What's the definition of paranoid? A:Someone who's more prepared than you.
  10. Man, I always miss the good stuff!!
  11. Thought this was going to be a serious thread.
  12. Thanks for your thoughtful and respectful reply, Jonnin.
  13. I'm not willing to give the attacker time fight back as he bleeds out. I am concerned about removing his will to fight, not killing him. Not a hard concept.
  14. I agree with this, based on my own reading and research. Question is, if one knows that .380 has been proven inferior to the 9mm as a defensive load, why would he want to trust his life to it? I have really tried to understand this, and for the life of me, I'm just unable to.
  15. Depending on which weapon you'll be using, and if you haven't already done so, you might want to check and see if there are any weapons they do NOT allow for the range qualification.
  16. M&P 9c. Just about the perfect CCW.
  17. OK, "Internet tough guy"..... ROFL
  18. And not just ANY donuts, mind you - Dunkin' Donuts.
  19. Just because a big rig is bigger than a bike doesn't make the bike invisible. I have never failed to see a motorcycle because I pay attention.
  20. Bovine Scat. Anyone who is aware and paying attention (and not playing with their webphone) knows what is in front of them, to either side, and behind them. The "bikes are hard to see" crap doesn't work. BTW, they don't have to run over a bike to be a moron. I see them every day from the driver's seat of my car.
  21. "Perfect pair" is different for everyone. For me, it's a S&W M&P45c and a 442.
  22. I only know that it is not an offense to discharge a firearm in Williamson County OUTSIDE city limits. I shoot varmints and targets on my property and have never had anyone call about it.
  23. Man, that was painful to watch. When I lived in Orlando in the mid-seventies, I was hit head-on by a drunk driver on a two lane road. We were both moving about 35 MPH. He veered over into my lane, and I had no warning and no time to react. I flew all the way over his car and landed on the pavement on the other side. Completely missed hitting his car. I remember realizing in mid-air where I was and rolling up into a ball only seconds before I hit pavement. Knocked the wind out of me and I thought my chest had been crushed. Spent three days in the hospital with a shattered left wrist (which is still deformed), a compression fracture in my spine, a puncture wound in my leg, and numerous contusions. I was lucky. The ER physician said he had seen people killed or paralyzed for life in far less serious bike accidents. The deputy in charge of the scene brought me my helmet, which had the first two layers completely sheared off from contact with the road surface. That would have been my head had I not been wearing it. No, I'll never ride again because there are too many morons on the road.
  24. +1 on the NEF Pardner Protector. I have one sitting in the corner between the wall and my dresser, and it goes boom every time. And, I don't have a lot of money tied up in it.
