  1. I'm with you. We've come a long way from what our founders envisioned for us, and it ain't good.
  2. So, what's the problem with discussing something not gun related in the OFF TOPIC sub-forum? Jeez.
  3. C'mon, expound on that profundity.
  4. Hmmmm. Looks like the problem is actually tailgating, not texting: Why the Proposed Car Cellphone Ban Is Wrong - Popular Mechanics
  5. Don't know anything about the Ruger or the Taurus, but I do have experience with the Kel Tec, and I share this guy's opinion on it: A Short Rant About A Small Gun: Eric on The Kel-Tec P3AT | The Truth About Guns
  6. If Laughner had not been able to buy a handgun legally, he would simply have gotten it by other means. I agree; this is just another attempt at a meaningless law that will do nothing except make the crybabies feel better.
  7. I remember Santa coming to visit in our church as a kid (late '50's - early 60's) and handing out candy. I remember being fairly impressed that Santa was a Christian, too.
  8. I dunno, but I wouldn't expect people living in other countries to hold 9/11 in the front of their minds the way we Americans do.
  9. Not disputing your facts, but the fact remains that people text and drive even though there are laws against texting and driving. There are some pretty hefty fines against speeding in construction zones, but people do it anyway. I guess I'm just not convinced that higher fines will make much of a dent.
  10. Why don't they just outlaw being distracted while driving? That would encompass a lot of things, like changing the station on your radio, eating, putting on makeup, etc. Seems to me that the issue is not so much texting, but being distracted.
  11. More dangerous in what way?
  12. I just bought the HTC Rezound, and one of the upgrades coming in early 2012 is the ability to dictate text and emails, similar to what Siri does on the Iphone.
  13. It does not deter undesirable behavior in some people. Law-abiding people will obey the laws; but the criminal element and the irresponsible will not. Texting and driving is already against the law in Tennessee. I fail to see what additional laws will do that the current ones will not.
  14. I don't believe I said that anywhere in any of my posts. Did the texting and driving law prevent the girl from texting and driving?
  15. But you're proving my point. The law didn't make any difference in the girl's behavior who almost hit you. The law would have done you little good had she succeeded in hitting you head on. I'm not saying texting and driving is a good thing, I'm just saying that the law doesn't prevent people from doing it any more than a "gunbuster" sign prevents people from entering the establishment packing heat.
  16. I sympathize with the families of the 9/11 victims, but aren't people just a tad hypersensitive about things nowadays?
  17. A great example of a law that had no effect on the behavior.
  18. I guess my point is this: Do laws do anything to deter the behavior?
  19. Case pushes my buttons with their timeless and classic pocket knife designs. I have an old 6231 1/2 that my dad gave me, and it's my absolute favorite carry blade over my Spydercos and Kershaws.
  20. We don't believe that more gun laws will reduce violent crime, so why is it that we believe a ban on texting while driving will somehow reduce highway accidents? Aren't there already laws against it?
  21. Can't trust that website. The ones I have driven to personally do NOT have ethanol-free fuel.
  22. My sister, brother and I all believed in Santa when we were kids. When we found out that Mom and Dad were putting the gifts out, it didn't scar us for life. We are all very normal and well adjusted. My wife and I also did the Santa thing with our son. He is not permanently scarred from the experience either. While I don't believe banning Santa will cause psychological damage in a child, I would be mildly concerned with how that would affect his/her relationships with friends who do believe in Santa.
  23. Maybe if it's not all black it wouldn't be considered "evil" by the hoplophobes.
