Police Given Direct Line To Cell Phone Searches
daddyo replied to daddyo's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Yeah, I read that part. Sorry, but that's not enough reason to circumvent the 4th Amendment. My phone is my property. Is it OK with you for them to search your home or your car without a warrant? -

Unbelievable. Welcome to Amerika. http://dfw.cbslocal.com/2012/03/06/police-given-direct-line-to-cell-phone-searches/?fb_ref=.T1d1qjQ7Uoo.like&fb_source=home_oneline -
Didn't bring anything for lunch today, so I may head up to The Sub Stop on Broadway to get one of their Italian Meatball subs.

And it's black, so it must be tactical!!

I seriously considered not voting, but I stopped on the way home and did my duty. I wish I had some confidence that it matters.

Gail Kerr: Guns-at-work proposal is a disaster in waiting
daddyo replied to daddyo's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I emailed her and said this: Gail, Please stop with the sensationalizing. Above all, please stop spouting off about that which you obviously have no clue. Just like the "guns-in-bars" bill, which you were DEAD WRONG on, but refuse to own up to and admit that you were wrong, you are wrong about this. Every time you write one of your hit pieces on gun owners, you sink in credibility, but that's your choice. It's fine to have an opinion about something, but unless it's grounded in fact, then as my dad used to say, it's about as useful as teats on a male pig. Please stop lying about gun owners. Here is the reply that I got: Thanks for reading me, and sending your feedback. GK She's right about one thing: I read her - like a book. -
I'm truly sorry that you are taking all this so personally. Maybe it would do you good to just step back and take a deep breath. I have never been in a self-defense situation nor do I want to be. I hope that makes you happy. It's been my experience that those who are the most adamant that mouseguns will get the job done are the same ones who like to ignore the ballistic evidence to the contrary. So, ballistics do play a major role in your odds of survival, like it or not.
-
As a blanket statement, no, I would not say that. Just as there are varying odds in gambling, there are varying odds of survival. If everything else is equal, then I will maintain that my odds of survival are greater with one of my chosen service caliber weapons. Is that a guarantee of survival? Of course not. What if your attacker is carrying a .45 or a .40 and knows how to use it? Is your .22 going to get the job done?
-
I'm not trying to put words in your mouth, unlike some other forum members. You DID say that the chances of having to use a firearm in self-defense is slim, did you not? And I would never try to take someone's right away to carry any weapon, underpowered or not. I am not arguing the .22's effectiveness in this case. What I am arguing is its CONSISTENT effectiveness as opposed to other choices. That's all. However, some folks are resistant to the idea of having the best odds of survival for some unknown reason.
-
Bingo. It's all about having the best possible chance to survive. I don't want a jellyfish thrown on my face either, but that doesn't make it a good defensive choice. All the "it's better than nothing" arguments are ridiculous from the viewpoint that it's not "either/or". No one HAS to choose something that isn't proven to be CONSISTENTLY effective.
-
No ridicule, just observation. I didn't say anything about anyone else not knowing what they were talking about, and yes, you seem to be all butt hurt because someone is challenging your assertion about the wisdom of depending on a .22 for self defense. Show me where I said YOU didn't understand. Go ahead. Let's see some proof about consistency of sub-service calibers. Go ahead. You have the floor.
-
My experiences don't change anything, and neither do yours. Facts are facts. Do the research for yourself. And if you want to shoot to kill, instead of stopping the threat, by all means, carry a .22. Have at it. Show me the proof that sub-service calibers CONSISTENTLY perform as well as service calibers, and I'll consider adding a mousegun to my arsenal. Go ahead. I'll wait.
