A pirate walked into a bar, and the bartender said, "Hey, I haven't seen you in awhile. What happened? You look terrible. "What do you mean?" said the pirate, "I feel fine." "What about the wooden leg? You didn't have that before." "Well," said the pirate, "We were in a battle, and I got hit with a cannon ball, but I'm fine now." The bartender replied, "Well, OK, but what about that hook? What happened to your hand?" The pirate explained, "We were in another battle. I boarded a ship and got into a sword fight. My hand was cut off. I got fitted with a hook but I'm fine, really." "What about that eye patch?" "Oh," said the pirate, "One day we were at sea, and a flock of birds flew over. I looked up, and one of them s**t in my eye." "You're kidding," said the bartender. "You couldn't lose an eye just from bird s**t." "It was my first day with the hook."

I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk? ---- Harry Callahan

This website has more information on craft beer than any I have found from the beers and the bars and pubs to buy them: http://beeradvocate.com/

I was just introduced to craft beer a year or so ago and it opened up a whole new world to me that I didn't know existed. Until then, I would have a beer now and then but I was never overwhelmed by any of the usual grocery store fare. Then a friend and I went to Asheville, NC after a hike in the North Carolina mountains and we had dinner at "Jack of the Wood" Irish Pub. He suggested I try a local brew called "Green Man ESB" and I thought that was the best tasting liquid ever to pass my palate.....and my journey into craft beer had begun. Since then I have tried as many of the craft beers as I could and have found some outstanding beers with flavor that I did not know could be infused into the drink we love so well. A short list of my favorites: Sierra Nevada - Torpedo Legend - Brown Ale New Belgium - Tripplel Young's - Double Chocolate Stout Bell's - 2 heart IPA So yeah, I guess I'm a snob....and I love it!

An elderly couple had dinner at another couple's house, and after eating, the wives left the table and went into the kitchen. The two gentlemen were talking, and one said, 'Last night we went out to a new restaurant and it was really great. I would recommend it very highly.' The other man said, 'What is the name of the restaurant?' The first man thought and thought and finally said, 'What is the name of that flower you give to someone you love? You know.... The one that's red and has thorns.' 'Do you mean a rose?' 'Yes, that's the one,' replied the man. He then turned towards the kitchen and yelled, 'Hey Rose, what's the name of that restaurant we went to last night?

Maybe this is turning into the official "Joke Thread." Some good ones so far. Here is another one I got last week: She was standing in the kitchen, preparing our usual Soft-boiled eggs and toast for breakfast, Wearing only The 'T' shirt that she normally slept in. As I walked in, almost awake, she turned to me and said softly, "You've got to make love to me this very moment!" My eyes lit up and I thought, "I am either still dreaming or This is going to be my lucky day!" Not wanting to lose the moment, I embraced her and then Gave it my all; right there on the kitchen table. Afterwards she said, "Thanks," and returned to the stove, Her T-shirt still around her neck. Happy, but a little puzzled, I asked, "What was that all about?" She explained, "The egg timer's broken."

John was on his deathbed and gasped pitifully. "Struggling to speak he said, "give me one last request." "Of course, John," his wife said softly. "Six months after I die," he said, "I want you to marry Bob." "But I thought you hated Bob," she said. With his last breath John said, "I do!"

A farmer went to the local bank to borrow money for a new bull. The loan was made and Banker Bill , who lent the money, came by a week later to see how the bull was doing. The farmer complained that the bull just ate grass and wouldn't even look at a cow.The Banker suggested that he have a veterinarian take a look at the bull. Next week,The Banker returned to see if the vet had helped. The farmer looked very pleased. "The bull has serviced all of my cows! He broke through the fence, and bred all my neighbor's cows! He's been breeding just about everything in sight. He's like a machine!" "Wow," said The Banker , "what did the vet do to that bull?" "Just gave him some pills," replied the farmer. "What kind of pills?" asked The Banker "I don't know, but they got a peppermint taste."

The Supreme Court issue for me is the most important consideration in this election. I have to believe that Romney will make a better pick for Supreme Court Justices than Obama. And it is pretty sure that the next President will make more than one pick for the Supreme Court. And since the 2nd Amendment was upheld by only a 5-4 majority, the person who appoints the next Supreme Court Justices will be crucial to our 2nd Amendment rights.
-
All I can say is that the Republican Platform is much better than the Democratic Platform as I see it. As far as the two candidates; Obama and Romney; One of them will probably appoint two or more Supreme Court Justices in the next Presidential term. After the two that Obama appointed this term (Sotomayor and Kagan) I can't possibly believe that he would do anything other than appoint like minded judges in the future and put our 2nd Amendment rights in jeapardy. Just because the current Supreme Court upheld the 2nd Amendment as we see it, never forget that "what the Supreme Court giveth, the Supreme Court can taketh away." It's happend before and it can happen again. Since we only have the two choices, I will play the odds and vote for the one most likely to do what I want done on this issue. It's for sure that Obama is not on our side and will use any opportunity he can find to restrict gun rights when he gets the chance in his lame duck second term.

JonC, what a great website the discovenet is! Just spent over an hour reading through some of the articles and no doubt will be spending many more. Thanks for linking to them here. -
I did search and did not see this posted. In my opinion this is a video that is 15 minutes well spent.

I thought the funny parts were hilarious. But the other parts....I cringed. He got lost in his speech several times. But he made a few very valid points admirably....."When somebody does not do the job, we gotta let 'em go."

I was flying out a couple of years ago and everything was going fine as usual when flying with a gun. Then a couple of TSA agents called me to come to the counter and said there was a problem with my gun case. They took me behind the wall behind the counter and picked up my gun case and showed me how even though it was padlocked (through the carry handle), they could still flip the latches and pull the top away from the bottom and gain access to the gun. It looked like I was going to have to miss my flight or call a relative to come and get the gun before the plane took off, neither of which was going to be easy or good. Then one of the TSA agents told the other one, "I believe I can fix that." She took the case somewhere and came back a few minutes later and said she had fixed it so the top could not be seperated from the bottom and everything was OK.....Deep sigh of relief! I don't know what she did to it because when I got to Phoenix and got my suitcase and checked the gun case, it just looked like it did when I packed it to start with. They were very nice agents and I didn't give them any attitude when they told me of the problem so maybe they just let it go. But I was very gratefull I didn't miss my flight. So be sure and check for that potential problem and solve it before you get to the airport.

What's the rule on city festivals?
waynesan replied to waynesan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I'm with you TMF! -
What is the rule when a city has a festival of some sort and cordons off a section of town and has a no weapons policy inside the festival area? I have been attending a festival for several years and always had my pocket pistol as I never saw any signs or notations on the ticket. Today while looking at their website I noticed a stern declaration that no weapons are allowed. Any other time, it is perfectly legal to carry in the area of the festival but because of the event it is now "no weapons allowed." Just wondering about the legal process of temporarily restricting weapons in a several block area of a town.

Earlier this week it was announced that Bass Pro would be coming to Bristol Tennessee and that dominated the local news for several days. Yesterday it was announced that Cabela's would be coming to Bristol Virginia (just 5 miles from where the new Bass Pro is going to build). I enjoy going to the Bass Pro in Sevierville and the Cabela's in Billings Montana that I visited 3 years ago blew me away. I loved that store. I just can't see this area being able to support both stores being that close together. I guess we'll see.

Great video showing how 44 mag expands in water. These people really know how to make a video. Be sure and watch it all the way through. All instructional videos should be made like this.

what is on your adult beverage menu for the evening?
waynesan replied to Mike.357's topic in General Chat
New Belgium Tripple is now my favorite craft beer. Flavored with Coriander, this is the best tasting beer I have had in a long time. Unfortunatly, at 7.8% ABV it cannot be sold in TN except in liquor stores. But if you get a chance to try it, you won't be sorry. -
"Carrying concealed may save your life, or at the very least help you subdue your assailant. That’s the conclusion that Wrigleyville, Illinois resident Michael Schmidt has come to after his weekend close encounter with death." http://www.infowars....oncealed-carry/ This guy is very lucky to be alive....but, it's Illinois, so what do ya do?
