Sorry Hyaloid, I didn't stop to think what I was doing.

I don't know how many on this board ever go to the NRA website but I find it very difficult to find what I'm looking for on it. But with a little practice it does get easier. If you want to see the whole speech by Fred with good sound here is how to get to it: Go to http://nra.org About middle ways down on the right you will see "Archived Materials" To the right of that you will see "browse archives", Click on that. The column heading will say "Celebration of America" written in yellow. Just below that you will see again "Celebration of America" written in white, Click on that. You will now see pictures of John McCain, Mike Huckabee and Fred Thompson. Click on the picture of the speaker you want to see give their speech. All three are rather lengthy but very worthwhile to hear.

Here is a link to a review from a "Women's" Publication raking Jodie Foster over the coals for her latest movie "The Brave One". I think it is very illustrative of the anti-gun mindset and shows how difficult it will be to ever get our point over to these people. Woe unto us if like minded people gain the majority of our government in the next election. http://www.womensenews.org/article.cfm/dyn/aid/3319/context/archive

John R. Lott Jr. on the DC Gun Ban
waynesan replied to TGO David's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Very good report. -
A couple of years ago I somewhat sheepishly agreed, at the urging of some skeet shooters at Cherokee Rod and Gun Club, to try my hand at skeet. I had been shooting using a manual thrower. Best move I ever made. It made shotgunning a hobby that I have had a blast participating in. Last year a friend I met through skeet encouraged me to try my hand at IDPA. Well I did, and I can honestly say its the most fun I've ever had with a gun. I divide my time according to my work schedule between Kettlefoot Rod and Gun in Bristol and TAC 2 in Greeneville. I agree with "gunsablazin". You can't beat shooting sports for the competitive urge in us all, and from my experience, you can't beat the people you develop friendships with.

If this law is signed by the governator you can be sure more assinine legislation will soon follow. They cannot ban guns outright so they are pursuing the course of "death by a thousand cuts". Put up so many insane and worthless restrictions that eventually they have effectively killed gun ownership. I predict if this gets signed in as law, it won't be long before all guns will be required to have a video camera attached, pointed at the shooter, transmitting data to the police so they can have a recording of who pulled the trigger. Never mind the criminal can wear a disguise or shoot from the hip and prevent his image from being transmitted, if it just helps solve one crime it will be worth it. ( I hope I didn't just give some anti idiot an idea he hadn't thought of).

Yes he was.

Here is a link to a company called Avurt. They have a new type of self defense "gun" that shoots a pepper projectile out to 40 feet. Whatch y'all think? http://www.avurt.com/default.aspx?skinid=1

After watching this I would like to sign up. Would they take a 55 year old man? Great recruiting tool. What say ye? [ame] [/ame]

Did you buy this new or used? If new, would you care to divulge what you had to pay? I've been thinking very seriously about getting something like this. But the prices I've seen online have been pretty high (they usually are). I think it would be a perfect fit for what I want the gun for.
-
If that was me, that video would have been destroyed, the kid would have a $100 bill in his pocket to keep his mouth shut, and the gun would be locked up until I took a class on gun safety. I don't see how anyone who had done something so stupid could allow the thing to be posted on the internet.

And they say it only happens in the south

Its not been that long ago when only the defenseless little sheep had to worry about such stuff. Now it seems none of the four legged critters are safe. Oh for the good ol' days. Just how cute does a goat have to be to even consider doing something like this? I bet when the facts are known she probably led him on--dark red lipstick, painted hooves etc... -
300 spoof- I laughed so hard my sides split

TOO FUNNY!!! -
I posted a link in the Concealed Carry forum about the pitiful state of affairs in Maryland. Yesterday the Boston Globe published a story praising the 25% drop in legal gunowners in Massachusetts. Here is the link: http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2007/08/12/gun_permits_drop_25_in_bay_state/ It is really sad to read the comments by law enforcement officials on their glee that the 2nd Amendment is slowly being destroyed in Mass.( not the way they said it but it is what they mean ). They even went so far as to deny a 70 year old man a renewal for his permit just to own a gun because they found out when he was 9 years old he stole a chicken.

Here is a link to a Carrol County Newspaper in Maryland detailing the difficulty to obtain a CCW Permit. As aggravated as I get with some of the problems with Tenn. Handgun Permit rules, I sure am glad we live here after reading this. Click on the link for the whole story. (Not too long) http://www.carrollcountytimes.com/articles/2007/08/05/news/local_news/newstory1.txt Reason to carryBy Heather Cobun, Times Staff Writer Sunday, August 05, 2007Ken Koons/Staff Photo Sara Duley, who works in Mount Airy, has had her handgun-carrying permit for about a year. In some states, the right to carry a firearm is guaranteed; in Maryland, you need to establish a reason. Maryland law requires a “good and substantial reason†for residents to be given a handgun permit, or what other states call a concealed weapons permit, that allows them to wear, carry or transport a handgun outside their property.

Fantastic video!!! Thanks Tower.

Here is an editorial from a Connecticut Newspaper concerning the Doctor's family that was murdered last week. The have apparently made an about-face on the need for armed self defense. Very interesting. They finally "get it". http://www.journalinquirer.com/site/index.cfm?newsid=18660461&BRD=985&PAG=461&dept_id=569380&rfi=8 "That is why one old question is worth asking again. It is this: What if the Second Amendment is for real? Is it possible that it should it be revered, just like the First Amendment? "

Ladies and Gentlemen - GUNS ARE NOT TOYS (of any type)
waynesan replied to saintsfanbrian's topic in General Chat
"White and Grosset were engaged in consensual sexual behavior involving a firearm when the firearm was discharged, resulting in his death." I guess I've lived a sheltered life. I can't figure out what they were doing or how they were doing it. Would someone enlighten me?....... on second thought.......don't. -
This one's been around awhile but I still like watching it. He hits the nail on the head.

Those of you who have seen the Penn and Teller gun control video know how funny and entertaining these guys can be. I ran across this one today. They sent someone to an environmental rally to collect signitures to ban Dihydrogen Monoxide ( the chemical name for water ). Its only about 4 minutes long but shows how easily people ( including us ) can be manipulated into doing/believing something before we stop to think it through. [ame] [/ame]

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Aug. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --- Smith & Wesson Holding Corporation (Nasdaq: SWHC - News), parent company of Smith & Wesson Corp., the legendary 155-year old company in the global business of safety, security, protection and sport, announced today that it has received an order for the company's M&P45 pistol from the Hartford, Connecticut Police Department (PD). The order calls for a total of 500 M&P45 pistols chambered in .45 ACP. An M&P45 will be issued to each officer in the department to replace early-model Smith & Wesson pistols that previously served as Hartford PD's primary duty firearm. ADVERTISEMENT Officials at the Hartford PD indicated that they selected the M&P45 because of its unique features including enhanced ergonomics, ambidextrous controls and consistent reliability. Daryl K. Roberts, Chief of the Hartford PD, said, "In our selection process we tested a number of firearms from various manufacturers. The M&P45 provided us with the best combination of features that are important to our officers in the line of duty. Among the most notable were the external thumb safety and the magazine disconnect safety. These options, combined with the pistol's shootability, interchangeable grip sizes, accuracy, and standard design features, made our final selection easy." While among the first agencies to place an order for the M&P45, Hartford Police Department joins a growing list of police agencies that have selected firearms from the M&P Series for duty use. Recent additions include the Iowa State Patrol; Harris County Sheriff's Office in Texas; Charles County Police Department in Maryland; New Castle Police Department in Delaware; Berkeley Police Department in California; Kenner Police Department in Louisiana; Rocky Mount Police Department in North Carolina; Brookline Police Department in Massachusetts; Hampden County Sheriff's Office in Massachusetts; and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office in Wisconsin. "We are pleased to add the Hartford PD to our growing list of law enforcement agencies that have purchased the M&P Series of polymer pistols for their duty firearms," said Leland Nichols, President and Chief Operating Officer of Smith & Wesson Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Smith & Wesson Holding Corporation. "We commenced shipping the newest model, the .45 caliber M&P45 just two months ago, and with its addition to the M&P Series we now provide a broad portfolio of high-performance, polymer pistols to military organizations, law enforcement agencies, sports shooters and consumers desiring personal protection. Today, the M&P Series is used or approved for carry in a total of 223 law enforcement agencies, which represent more than 60,000 officers across the United States. We are honored to be supporting these men and women in the line of duty." The M&P45 is manufactured with a traditional black or dark earth brown frame and is available with or without a frame-mounted ambidextrous thumb safety. With an empty weight of 29.6 ounces, the polymer pistol features a 4.5-inch barrel with an overall length of 8.05 inches. Providing one of the smallest grip sizes available on any .45 ACP pistol, the M&P45 comes standard with three interchangeable grips, allowing the user to customize the pistol to their preferred hand size. The M&P45 utilizes a steel dovetail mount front sight and a steel Novak® Lo-Mount carry rear sight. Tritium sights are available for low light conditions and a universal Picatinny-style equipment rail allows for tactical lights and lasers. The new frame-mounted ambidextrous thumb safety acts as a passive safety device allowing the slide to be pulled toward the rear, clearing the firearm without disengaging the safety. Another feature available on the M&P45 is the specially designed lanyard attachment.
