I finally quit for good about 10 years ago. Haven't touched one since. During the 25 years I did smoke I quit temporarily on several occasions for weeks, months, and even years, only to take it back up out of stupidity. The time I quit for nearly 3 years I bought some smoke alarms for the house. After putting them up I wanted to test them (see where this is going?). My neightbor, who smoked, was standing in his yard so I asked him for a cigarette to test my alarms. I came in the house, lit up, took a puff, blew into the alarm, it went off and I did too! Man did that taste good! I went straight to the store and bought a pack - just to smoke a couple for old times sake. Within a week I was back to a pack a day. Lesson learned - Don't play with them. Don't ever take that one puff for whatever reason you may think is a good one at the time. After I quit the last time, I dove into exercise as never before. And within a short time I lowered my blood pressure, decreased my bad cholesterol, raised my good cholesterol, and had more money in my pocket. So good luck on your staying off the smokes. It is one of the things in life that if you are successful in doing will give you a great feeling of accomplishment and a story of inspiration for others when they need some encouragement.

I watched all of that game. After the Ladies got out to about a 10 point lead I kept waiting for Stanford to come back. They never did. I was amazed at how the LV played defense. But when all is said and done, nothing can compare with that game the other night against LSU. Man, that was a nailbiter.

I'm glad it worked out for you. It sounds like he got the gun part right. But I'm somewhat surprized by this: Does a Camero indicate some type of concern for Law Enforcement? Just wondering.

While you may not be charged or prosecuted, could you still lose your Handgun Carry Permit?

My daughter and two ladies I work with went to ETSU and got their Handgun Permits. They all loved the class. At the time I didn't even know ETSU had a range on campus. It came as a total shock to me. I wonder how many other State Colleges have shooting ranges.

If you go to Naifeh's page on the Legislature website http://www.legislature.state.tn.us/ you will see a Summary of Constituent Survey . I don't know how this survey was conducted but you will see that according to Naifeh, over 80% of respondents do not approve of allowing guns in restaurants that serve alcohol. So at least for his district he seems to be voting the way his folks want him to. And if you look at all the organizations he belongs to and boards he serves on it seems to me he is as entrenched as that district's representative as he could possibly be. I think it would be easier to unseat Ted Kennedy than it would be to unseat Naifeh. I agree that Plan "B" seems the way to go.

I called the number in the announcement and the guy told me Ron Ramsey will be speaking on State 2nd Amendment issues and David Davis will be speaking on Federal issues. They are trying to line up some other speakers as well.

Personally I was shocked to find this video and to hear the strong pro 2nd Amendment stand that Harold Ford has taken. Unfortunately, I also read a statement on his website that says he will do everything he can to elect a Democrat for President regardless of who the nominee is. I was not involved with guns much when Tennessee first passed legislation to issue Handgun Carry Permits. They were already being issued for six months before I heard about them. So I was not privy to the battle to get the legislation passed. How was it accomplished? Was it a hard fought battle? Did Naifeh have anything to do with it, either for or against? Anyone remember the details?

I called everyone on the sub-committee today. From what I can tell there are four definite votes for passage. Briley and Sontany are probably against but I called them anyway. If they pass next week my understanding is they go before the Judiciary Committee. If they can pass through there without any amendments they can be sent to the floor for a vote. If they are amended, they have to go to another committee to see what the amendments would cost the state to implement if anything. If they pass through that one then they're off to the floor for a vote by the full house. Briley killed the Carry in Parks Bill last session by adding that stupid sign amendment. I hope we can avoid anything like that this time.

mdmoseley, you are correct with Sontany's reply. I just checked the schedule for next week and there are three bills to be acted on next Wednesday the 19th. HB0702 Allows person who has permit to carry a handgun to carry gun in place where alcohol is served for consumption on premises if person is not consuming alcohol or is not otherwise prohibited by posting provisions. HB3667 Allows any resident, who has a valid handgun carry permit, to possess his or her handgun while within the boundaries of any state park. HB3014 Authorizes full-time faculty and staff at public schools, colleges, and universities in Tennessee to carry handguns if not otherwise prohibited by law.
